    What’s with the thumbs down simpletons? That was brilliant, thank you. And so good to hear an English accent and a lady! I’m a 69yr old female who got into woodwork 3years ago. Just what I needed!

    Thank you for this simple and attractive design for the fan trellis. Your instructions were perfect, succinct and easy to follow. Shortly after viewing the video, I went to our local big box store and bought several treated 1x2s for the project. The pieces were stained and left to dry overnight. Next morning, I followed your instructions and within a brief period of time, viola! A finished fan trellis for our garage wall. Next step is to build a small planter box to accompany the trellis. You have great videos. Thanks. A fan in New Jersey, USA.

      Glad the simplicity of this helped! I ended up making this if it helps, but I did use up OSB & offcuts to save money, which will need treating well :) th-cam.com/video/m7ApVGzAwh8/w-d-xo.html

    Good work as usual. I did similar earlier in the summer. Nice easy job to do. Worked out about the same cost as buying one but I needed it a specific size hence making it myself.
    Being picky the only thing I did differently was to make it the other way round using a couple of spacers from scrap timber to give me the gaps. This ensured the nail heads were hidden on the back and I also carefully trimmed the overhang off with a panel saw.

    • @TheCarpentersDaughterUK
      @TheCarpentersDaughterUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the tips! I very nearly reversed the rectangular ones to hide the nails, but left it this way to match the fan one :)

    Hi, Just a couple of points, 1. I have voted for both sections. 2. you are holding your hammer wrong, your thumb should be on the side of the hammer this will make you hold the hammer a lot looser and will help hit the nail with more force and less strain on you. People think you have to grip the hammer when in fact you should have a loose grip and this will help. Good luck with the voting.

    A suggested improvement on design would be to build the trellis upside down and use woodscrews to attach the vertical and lateral battens - I've seen far too many trellises (is that the plural?!) fall apart due to pin nails.

    Reminds me when I was an 11 yr old kid; we had building going on up the road and in the evenings/weekends the site became our unofficial 'Adventure Playground'. Not only that, it had loads of great stuff strewn around just right for a budding 'Builder of anything' ..... battons, planks, floor-boards, nails, wire, etc, etc. ..... made an aviary with battons and chicken wire, a rabbit hutch, and a wooden 'bike' .... Yep! a wooden bike! .... All went well until I tried to ride it and the dang thing collapsed in a heap .... AARRGGHH!!!! ......... Keep up the good work :-)
    Nail guns EH?? :-(
    When I first read the title 'Fan Trellis' I thought you were doing the 'Wall-Of-Shame' thingy. A bit like #Yiannimize did when he got 1m subscribers....... (Then I twigged ;-)

    Very nice job. Just wondered why you started to use the metric numbers. We use inches for all the building trades, through most of the world, at least most English speaking countries. Even though most of us know the metric system and some of us use it in our jobs.

    • @TheCarpentersDaughterUK
      @TheCarpentersDaughterUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I started in inches when I got in to DIY (as does my Dad), but my husband prefers cm, so I keep going between the two lol

      @TheCarpentersDaughterUK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! And yes, time flies by when you're having fun 😂 I didn't treat the ends as it was already treated (or that was my excuse lol). Since this has come up 3 times now, I'll stop being lazy tomorrow and do it tomorrow 🤣
