    Learning split cueing is SO important especially if you are playing big venues and large events. Learned this the hard way.

    I did not know people weren’t using this. I have no choice but to use it because of a hearing impairment. It makes mixing easier for me and I like being able to clearly hear both the cue and house mix.

    Pro tip: If you want to save your hearing before it's gone then everyone should be using split cue (toggle between split cue and master) + isolating iem's.

      Yeah, in Laidback Luke's vlogs he has mentioned this same reason as well. He said using isolating iem's with split cue allows him to work at "living room volume" and save his hearing

      but how does using split cue preserve hearing more than stereo cue/master ? Is it not the same volume coming out of each ear cup?

    • @anmasked

      If you use in ear headphones isolating the outside noise and just hearing the cue (James Hype does this)

    More often than not, I prefer using the stereo setting, with the master cue engaged. If I'm at a venue with louder booth monitors, I'll occasionally turn the master cue off, and just use one ear cup with the stereo cue. It essentially provides the same effect that split cue provides.

    I like to hear the master on both headphones and switch on the mixer the queue often on by turning the knob listening to my queue and then going back to master listening to what is being heard but I’m both headphones however I found on some controllers when the knob is turned to master you can’t hear master at all is there a reason why love the videos by the way sorry for the lengthy question

    Well, both channels left n right have the swivel on them n You can tighten the otherside. The red wire labeled "R" is for right channel btw on those HD25's. ;)

    With the right headphones, also helps with sound protection, as you control the volume to your ears at all time, plus muting the "outside" loud music.

    I find split cue helps when beat matching doesn’t sound on point from the house system

    My DJM400 doesn’t have split cue but if you keep the master headphone button *ON* then just use the buttons for channels 1&2 you’ll get the same function 👍

    I have learned to mix with split cue, because my kids are sleeping so cant make noise too much 😁

    I always mix with headphone but never use split que. I use stereo and turn on /off the cues I need to listen to.

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Me neither! I learnt to mix in headphones without it and now it just throws me off

  • @itsamedjmario
    @itsamedjmario 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I use split cue sometimes to verify my mix is on beat... I recently bought a small monitor to bring with me when I do mobile events, especially for bigger parties, when I have the speakers to far away and I can’t hear the master.. my ears are so damaged, from getting blown up in Iraq in 2005, so a big part of my mixing comes from wave lengths.
    Every party I’ve ever djayed, I’ve had someone come up to the booth, and ask me to turn it down, bc it’s too loud 😂😂😂
