I JUST had an argument with the wife telling her about her shitty behaviour. She immediately double down and said there is nothing wrong with her behaviour. I called her out “says who? You? Your single friends?” Suffice to say the convo didn’t go well and she’s been sleeping in the kids room for 2 days now. I never listen to her when she tells me to sleep on the couch. “Im not stopping you if you want to be away from me. The couch is great for angry women.”

I knew a gal who was very attractive and married to an old friend of mine. I hired her to work in my office (against my better judgment, I know) as a favor to him, as he was disabled and money was tight. She only lasted a few weeks, as she had apparently never taken orders before and felt perfectly entitled to conduct personal business on company time. She took it as a personal affront every time she heard the word “no”. She was so used to getting her way that she had a meltdown whenever she didn’t.
Later she divorced my friend and he died not long after that. A sad epilogue

They put value on how you think they think about themselves. They don’t judge things objectively, they like confident men because they trust the confident men’s judgment of himself. They view it as “If I said I was a 5, you would think I think I have low or mid value on myself” They put value on how you view them because they put value on how you view yourself, so they assume or instinctively do the same. That is a really good point. There have been some very insightful behavioural studies of men and women that show things like men are more honest and accurate when describing their dating / potential partner preferences than women - hence the BS that women place less value on appearance than men - actually they're about equal but women lie about it. Interestingly, when women were asked about the preferences of OTHER women, they were far more accurate and truthful.

I have to remind my wife regularly that corrections and criticisms are not negative. She completely shuts down any time I critique her in any way and we have to reset and talk about it and come back to it days later. It's the most frustrating thing ever when she's making mistakes that are glaring to me but she won't just listen and correct it instead of being absolutely captivated by her feelings in the moment, and she's a Doctor. Women just need to learn to talk to men and stop shutting down.

  • @ApatheticGod0
    @ApatheticGod0 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +64

I had something similar. I won’t go into personal details but a female member of my family was in the middle of making a huge mistake, which would have seriously affected our family had it have been allowed to continue. She did this out of fear, which lead to anger at her helplessness ( cause she had to rely on someone else with greater knowledge of the situation to solve the problem) which lead to hatred of innocent parties.
Her husband is a wet sock who can’t fight back against her and her female friends are too exhausted by her to fight back, so I did it.
I tried to find her logic and she walked away, so I followed her. She locked the door behind me, so I found a key and unlocked it and spoke to her. I never raised my voice, and never swore at her, even though she did to me. It took around half hour and I admit I ended up treating her like a child at times despite her being well into her 50th year.
It wasn’t until I point blank refused to help her, then prevented her from continuing her mistake, then stubbornly stood in her metaphorical way until she slowly let slip her fear. Once u grasped at those, she u ravelled and within 5 minutes I had her happy, relieved and perfectly compliant. The mistake was averted and the overalll issue was solved the next day,
For me, this is why women can’t take criticism: a lot of their logic is based on emotion, be it fear leading to rage, or elation blinding them from facts, I find that it is simply a fact that most women I have ever met quote-unquote “run on emotion”. That doesn’t mean they’re illogical, just that their logic derives FROM their emotions.
It wasn’t “I can’t do anything, but this person can. I’ll stand back and let them deal with it” it was “I can’t do anything. I feel trapped. I feel helpless. I need to do something.” Often this comes from women trying to talk over masculine roles. I said that her husband was a wet sock and that’s the issue: if he had control of the situation it would’ve been “I’ll deal with it honey”, “thanks dear” but instead she felt the burden and when women feel the burden, they often crack because their not taught to be logical from an early age. They’re taught emotions; they’re taught that what matters is how they feel and what they think. Boys are taught “you’re fat, get in shape. You’re weak, get stronger. You don’t know this. Learn it or no woman will want you”. Girls by comparison are moddycoddled, because of simple logic, they start from emotion almost all the time (at least from my experience).
That’s why women can’t accept criticism, and why no one corrects them: because no one corrects girls. They let them believe whatever they want and incorrect thoughts are gently nudged by their friend group. Sometimes, you don’t have time to spend weeks slowly turning a ship from a cliff. Sometimes you need to full astern, which often relies on someone saying “I’m not helping you; I’m stopping you before you screw this up for everyone”. I would wager very very few girls ever experience such a harsh denial, phrased in that way.
So, girls who don’t face direct criticism, only back handed compliments and two-faced greetings, grow to women who can’t take criticism and see two faced back-handed insults from everywhere.
It comes from how we)re raised and our biology.

    • @robhulson
      @robhulson 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

A lot of wisdom, here. I would add an addendum to improve your overall point.
It’s not that “no one corrects women.” Men try. And they fail usually because they are either too aggressive, or too weak.
A man can be too aggressive physically, or acts out of his anger with shouting, ridicule, or outright malevolence. Or, he acts hurt when she lashes out, shrinks back, or runs away.
She is like a bunch of static electricity looking for a grounding. And the more a man tries to answer the question, “How can I be a rocksteady grounding for this woman?” the more he will become a man that women genuinely love and respect.

Imagine the shock to a hot woman's ego if they accepted that their status is based on looks and not their looks. That would require a whole rethink of their model of the world and essentially obliterate their ego. We're starting to see this happening in older millennial women, and they're miserable and hopeless.

And when you do call them out, they are master manipulators.
I feel bad for the women that do a good job and can take constructive criticism, although rare.
As a man, can you imagine trying to "explain away" your poor decisions, actions, behavior?

Testosterone has already be halved. 75% of IVF is for girls. Men are now wanting robots. Totally leaving real women alone while waiting to install a much stronger robot doll that can be controlled by remote. All the while men thinking they're the smart ones......lol!! :) @@Darth_Bateman

Calling it constructive criticism is kind of a copout. It sounds better than "you need to change" and that sounds better than not meeting a standard and correcting with incentives and punishment. That's what it is.
In the big picture, Western society has been taking this apart for a long time, because we just see it as aggression against the defenseless and oppression, and I guarantee any woman watching this is going to translate constructive criticism into oppression. They aren't wrong. The problem with that is, most punishment in the past has been geared towards modifying personal behavior to make it to where other people don't have to take care of you all the time or fix your mistakes. It's not all sociopathy or dehumanization: people are held to a standard because we need it, because without it, shit doesn't work right.
And you can't hold a standard, you can't enforce expectations, unless you have some actual authority. We need to be careful about how we talk about this, but the bare fact is that men have no leverage. This is a power game, and it always has been.

no body likes criticism of any kind even if they claim otherwise. that includes both men and women. some people don't like any type of criticism and go crazy even if you do it very gently because it is their personality to begin with. some people will take certain amount of criticism but if they are criticized all the time they will eventually get angry and that is normal. my guess is you are the type of guy who can smile through everything because you don't care about anyone's opinion. now that can be a good trait because one needs to stay true to oneself. but someone who thinks he is always right and is very confident of their opinions even if they make no sense is usually stupid. and someone smart will more often question ones own choices or opinions. now that type of person will generally take constructive criticism pretty well at first. but if he is criticized all the time he is more likely to get defensive because in back of his mind he will be wondering if all of it could be true even if it is not or mostly not true. also what one person calls constructive criticism other will not it depends on the individual and individual case. if someone criticized me because I question their idea of christian values or on the other side someone criticized me because despite that I do believe that there is more to life than just what we see I would be annoyed by that and think they are idiots and neither of them would be giving me constructive criticism. just being stupid. similarly if someone would criticism me because I believe in global warming and believe that killing sharks for their fins to make fin sup is something that should be highly illegal I would also think they are idiots and the more they would criticize me the more I would criticize them.

thee are few people who are both secure but don't have that big of an ego and will take criticism pretty well. but only constructive criticism. absolutely no one likes to be criticized just because. and someone who seems to be ok with it does it because they are either afraid or they have something to gain so they take it until they have to and then once they get what they want the simply remove themselves from the situation.

@@bartangel4867 Thnx, of course women can be godawful. What I am addressing is walking home in the evening ~ or even the daylight, I keep seeing daytime murders of men jumping out of bushes and murdering people, women and elderly men - in public places. We have that with joggers here, jogging is damn dangerous, men cruise around bus stops, jogging areas, rest areas, there are predatory men all over, shopping mall parking lots, they will slow down if you are out walking the dog, etc. men have to be careful in a relationship. Women have to be careful the minute they leave the house. You can never let your guard down. Men, not addressing this issue, where women cannot walk the streets they pay for with taxes, at any city or town in this nation at night, or even during the day because, men. They are ready to throw us onto subway tracks, rape us at knife point, break into our homes, some even become famous, Bundy, BTK, Jack the Ripper, Hillside Strangler, some even go after boys. It is hell living as a woman in such a world. It is being in a prison or being the victim of a male perpetrated crime. There are certain things you can do which will get through to people, even many tough cases.
The first thing to know how to do, that anyone who wants to influence others positively should know how to do, is tell a story. An exemplary story is preferable, but a cautionary tale is also useful. When you tell a story, you don't have to tell someone directly how to think or what to do. You give them a space to interpret the story for themselves, perhaps even thinking about it from different angles, or letting it sink into their subconscious
In fact, they don't even have to understand what the point of the story is, for it to have an effect on them.
One book I highly recommend on the subject is "My Voice Will Go With You: The teaching tales of Dr. Milton Erickson" by Sidney Rosen. It's a beautiful book, and just about anyone will gain something from it
The other thing I'll mention, which can be a kind of last resort, is "naming the dynamic". This is mentioned in "Difficult Conversations: How to talk about what matters most" by Stone, Patton and Heen. In the book it describes telling someone what normally happens when you try to confront them about their behaviour, or about how your interact together, thus, hopefully, making it conscious so it can be discussed.
However, I also like to not just name the dynamic, but "name the game". For example, I'm asking someone a question, and I've phrased it in two ways. They say to me "I just don't understand the question..." I might say "Okay, so here the game is that you pretend to not understand me, and that way you think you'll be excused from answering the question, or you won't even have to think about it."
Sometimes people will cycle through several games as you do this, and if you're astute you can name every one. After about the fifth one, they might relent and decide it's time to be honest in some form. If it takes more than five, it might be time to consider how much energy you want to spend on this person.
However, as Dr. Erickson said, there's no such thing as a resistant patient, only an inflexible therapist. If you want to get through to a person, it's important to adapt your approach and see what will get through.

Talk about women not being able to take criticism but you’ve been made to look silly by making a dumb comment and you are doubling down and flinging mud at a massive group of people just because you feel a bit embarrassed. Yikes
