Maya now has the greatest video resume for being a producer, musician, narrator, and creator while Aladino now has the greatest video resume as a boat builder! You both are absolute professionals in your respective skills. I'm beyond happy for you.
Well said! Such well deserved praise! Although rewarding in the end, such a tough journey and you both have handled it admirably. So glad y’all got to enjoy the boat this summer. Hope this next chapter is much more manageable. Take good care of yourselves, first and foremost, always ❤️
I _never_ watch recap videos... when I've been following a project religiously I usually just want to see the new stuff. But I breathlessly watched _this_ entire recap in the middle of my work day. Maya, your inspired musical choices, your narration, your careful editing... the pure storytelling at work here made me feel like I was right back immersed in the drama again. One of your best videos. Awesome work.
Aladino, what a man with such a strong character. You have built a fantastic boat and carried your wife through the tough times with always a wry smile and jokey comment. What an achievement.
Cried several times. Go to bed safe in the knowledge that you have positively impacted a life, I suspect many, many others. Thank you and congratulations.
Congratulations! I can’t remember if I have ever been so spellbound watching a video on TH-cam. You took us from the depths of dispare to the highs of what you two have achieved. I feel happy and relieved with you. What a journey!
Aladino has proved himself as a master craftsman and you, Maya, also have transcended the realm of excellence into mastery. This summary/celebration video rivals the boat work in its professionalism. 🎉 bravo to you both and to all the contributors. Now, Ever Onward! ❤
I wish you could really get a sense of how thrilled your audience is for you - what a journey! Congratulations, well done, happy for you, just doesn’t come close to express our appreciation for what you have accomplished. Cant wait for splash down and future chapters.
I only cried twice during this video once when you got her out of the workshop in the United States and the second was when you were going to put her in the water! Oh wait, maybe there was a third you guys are so beautiful and very accomplished in your very own ways. It was good to see your smiles.
I completely agree with Scott, this video really ought to receive an award. Only problem is that this same year Sailing Yaba launched their boat after their rebuild. I know that their rebuild was done mostly by hired professional boatbuilders but still. Your work was definitely in that same top class.
@@SailingMagicCarpet International Cruisers Awards awarded by the Young Cruisers Association! And I agree with Scott. This should go up for best episode for the 2025 awards.
This is a Masterpiece Review/Overview Episode! There is no boat in the world with such a soul as Magic Carpet II ! From neglected hulk to Classic Stunning Beauty; what a metamorphosis!!
WOW! Maya, you have told an amazing story, recapping the last 4 years or so into 47 minutes. Both Magic Carpet II and this video are a masterpiece. Congrats to both Aladino and yourself Maya for your vision and persistence to accomplish your goals. You both should be very proud of what you have accomplished. It's just amazing. As well, both of you are very talented, skilled individuals, and compliment each other so well. I had hoped to see Magic Carpet II splash this week, but alas that will be for another episode. Your elegant and eloquent storytelling is very captivating. So much so that you made this old Army Sergeant shed a few tears... a rare event. The one thing that was missing though, was your violin. I hope we hear more of it in the near future. Your musical talent is what drew me to the channel in the first place. Anyhow, BRAVO ZULU, and may Magic Carpet have fair winds and following seas. Stay safe, and keep well.
What a beautiful comment, thank you so much for writing to us. I'm so happy that the story was emotional for you -- it certainly was for us. More violin coming soon, thank you for asking after it! :)
This video is exactly why I follow your channel! The storytelling, the shots, the music, the boat building and last but certainly not the least you two🙏 thank you for taking us along on this ride of yours in this excellent way, thank you and "behouden vaart"🍾
Four years. You took a derelict, rotting boat, and turned her into the most beautiful cruiser in the world. A boat I’d choose over any newly designed boat. One that has stood the test of time. It was daunting the amount of work and aladino a craftsman and perfectionist. I’d want nothing less for my boat. And now, now the adventure if life begins with the world open. Play your violin, sleep to the sound of gently rain and the lullaby of ocean rocking. Now a new life begins. Congratulations mayo and aladino.
Wow, I knew it was a comprehensive and detailed refit, but I'd forgotten JUST how comprehensive and detailed it was. Congrats Maya and Alidino. Well done!
The difference between theory and practice is greater in practice than it is in theory. But the two of you sharing in your human adventure is greater in a completely different way. Watching you grow together, while you work and play together has been a lesson in good living and real marriage. What a thing of beauty you are creating with your lives. Oh, and the boat too, i almost forgot.
Thank you so, so much for this comment. I agree that I really wanted this video to be about a lot more than just boatbuilding -- it has been a massive emotional undertaking over the past few years.
It was the ship that needed some minor repairs and some paint - but ended up being a total renovation. The whole ship had to be dismantled in pieces - a huge project and Maya was close to giving up, but not Aladino, he fought bravely on. You are both skilled craftsmen and now the ship appears as brand new - it is mega nicely done by both of you - many greetings from Denmark, I have followed you all the way and am deeply impressed ...
I cried watching this--I’ve refit a wooden boat and made it to the launch too. Nothing prepares you for the blood sweat and tears but it’s all worth it!!!! Congrats Auguri!!! You did it!
Well done. I have been following your story since Europe....how far you both have come. What a journey ... and so so much more ahead. But at least some fun can now really begin. Back on the water! A long time coming! Congratulations!
To hell and back but you’re in heaven now. What an amazing journey and you survived. Love conquers all! This accomplishment will nourish you for years to come…
What a beautiful boat! I especially love the glossy wood returned to it's natural color! Thank-you Maya for staying the course and not giving up on this project! You have both done a wonderful job and have a boat to truly be proud of!
I imagine that saving the final edit of this video was a cathartic moment of resolution with the promise of a more abundant life to come. May all your dust from here out be rosin and not cellulose.
You two are phenomenal and it is so very special that you have had such support from family and friends. She's a spectacular beauty. Thank you for not giving up the project!
You two have truly earned this reward. Congrats, and smooth sailing in the years to come. Please take us with you, or at least send back some photos. ;)
Maya's Music and Aladino's craftsmanship. Incredible pairing. What a fortunate happening for this poor broken little vessel. Im pleased for all of you!
I'm looking forward to watching sailing videos again. I've certainly learned a lot about boat building over the past four years but really enjoy your sailing videos.
And what a journey its been, i'm so proud of you both for sticking in there when times got tough. And take a look at what youve created 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻🍾🥂🎻🙏🏴
The vulnerability and struggle was very real…and I know it was only an overview of some really difficult moments. We experienced something very similar over the course of 3yrs in our refit, and took a very different turn ultimately, but there are some really interesting parallels in the struggles and circumstances that had us feeling ungrounded and without an finish line. We were in Mexico with similar insecurities around “visas”, feeling burnt out, 0 balance in our lives; and we also realized things had to change! Good on you for being honest with yourselves, and adapting, and succeeding! It gets better from here! You have a gift for story telling, this was one of the more authentic videos I’ve seen in this “genre”, excellent production, music selection…I’m feeling very optimistic for you, and I appreciate what you’ve come through to arrive at this point! Things got better for us too, so hold fast to your vision, your dreams, they may take unexpected turns, but you will realize a version of them that may even exceed whatever ideals you had. Thanks for the wonderful story 😊
Congratulations!!! Theseus's Paradox comes to mind after viewing your excellent video. Leo Goolden's rebuild of Tally Ho is the only sailboat project on TH-cam that I have seen where more of the original craft needed to be replaced. Like Leo's project, you only settled for the best components and the highest level of craftsmanship. She is a beauty! The trials and tribulations that you both overcame have made you stronger. No doubt, you now feel like you could conquer the world. You certainly have earned it. Stay the course.
You have embarked on a fabulous adventure and are showing tenacious courage to carry out this restoration. The result is beautiful. I've been following you since you went sailing in Holland. You make me relive my marine escapades in this beautiful country. Congratulations, continue and look forward to following you again and again.
I’m exhausted from watching the entire process all over again. I remember you when you bought your very first boat, before Aladino. It’s been an incredible journey. Can’t wait to see her sailing.
First video I ever watched was when Maya got her first boat for a dollar and have been following her and Aladino since. I have felt the ups and the downs as if I have been part of this adventure and loved every second of it. Cannot wait till the next episode and thank you for such a great video.
Now you guys are reborn! Congratulations MC2 is a work of art, only a few years of toil but a lifetime of pride and adventures! So few have accomplished what you both have done!
She's beautiful. All the old school details and sweet little turns. What a joy it will be to sail and live on her. Everywhere you look will give you joy. I know enough to know that you already know this. Fair winds.
Well I've followed you two for a long time and have to say that what you have accomplished is simply beyond belief. From your $1 boat to this gem is an incredible achievement and I hope your life continues fulfill your dreams. Congratulations to you both. Dale
I have watched your channel for years, including the rebuild of this Cape George . You might like to know we knew the previous owner of Kirsten Neuschaffer’s boat very well, and we’re honored to meet Kirsten herself here in Newfoundland. . As well we met the owners of that Cape George 36 in Port Townsend. Moving on, You have accomplished something wonderful! Nothing is impossible to diligence and skill! You can be justly proud.
And it seems obvious to me that the old style wooden bulwarks just would not work or stand up to a lifetime at sea. The stress at the 90 degree angles is all supported by the screws and bolts. Great work.
When you go sailing, many of those labor intense hours of work, will be forgotten..But so many hours of enjoyment will be fullfilled.Enjoy, you deserve, and worked, for it!!
Wow what a journey and what a result !!! I followed the whole refit and i must say, you made a masterpiece of her. Finally the big day has come, to put her back into the water. She will shine like a diamond. Congrats with what the both of you achieved true this last for years... 🙂
You have inspired so many people throughout your journey. You are both masters of your craft. You haven’t just restored a boat; you’ve created a masterpiece. Know that you are truly loved by all who have followed your journey.
It’s hard not to be emotional as I listen to this. I’m struggling to finish my 2nd boat refit. Winter is around the corner. I always admire your work and the quality of the production.
CONGRATULATIONS YOU TWO! Life's best moments doesn't come without pain and struggle. That being the case, the two of you have paid for more than a lifetime! ABSOLUTELY A BEAUTIFUL JOB THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU!!!
Aladino is not just a shipwright and boat builder, he is an artist. Like you Maya, but in a different way. I watched you two since early on and am very proud.
You are one of the channels I have always followed since you got your first boat before meeting Aldino. Appreciate how hard you both have worked to get to where you are now. Can't believe how time has flown. I retired at 61 the end of may this past summer in hopes to enjoy my passion of boats with my 24 power boat projects and 6 sailboat projects. I am still looking to get started but things got put on hold for maybe half a year after a motorcycle accident the beginning of September. You both keep me in good spirits that it will come. Thanks for all you have shared.
You and your friends and family have created a community of curious, then interested, then invested personally gathering of people across the globe. Yes, you have access to resources that not everyone can even imagine but your personality, persistence, talent, skills, and communicative excellence reflect hard, difficult work. Thanks for all you have shared with us.❤
Wow!! You guys certain did the work and deserve all the kudos from your many followers. I have followed you guys from the beginning and it is so refreshing to see such dedication, expert rebuilding, and well produced videos. Nothing good comes easy and you prove that. Fair winds to you both as you begin/continue your adventure. Dr. Steve
It feels like you have both discovered that a portion of the “payoff” is the journey itself. How else could have accomplished such incredible work over a huge sparse of time. So much to be proud of and such a great example for us…joy is in the journey not just the destination. Thanks for such beautiful content.
Not crying!!😭 ❤ ‘well done’ does not encompass the awe and happiness I have for you guys, complete strangers, that I’ve watched pour their hearts and souls into this rebuild!! I cannot wait to see you enjoying the fruits of all this labour!
As someone who has unfortunately had to make a lot of repairs (still in process) on my boat on all my days off the last 3 years... I just want to thank you for always giving me motivation to work on my own prOject. Congrats on the splash!!! Very excited for y'all and your beautiful boat.
I am following your path since you and your father were servicing your 1$ boat's engine. Unfortunately I don't' find those videos any more. I am very glad that destiny brings your paths together with Aladino. Both of you proved how love and strong pasion and will overcome all obstacles on the way to the realization of a common goal. Your strugless are so familiar to me since I was refurbishing boat with my wife during pandemic. I am with you every friday. All the best with my great respect to you both... and your wonderful father!!
Can't wait to see Magic Carpet under sail. You are both very talented and handy craftspeople and wonderful story tellers. May the wind be at your back.
I've been watching all along. From MC1 to today. It occurred to me watching this that if not for you two this boat likely would never have splashed again.
Many thanks to Maia who made a great job of return back in the past. We appreciated the huge work Done. Aladino as a professional made a fantastic work even we don’t know if he has some doubts or discouragements. For Maia it should has been very hard to have a boat totally dismantled . She worked a lot to the new boat especially for the varnish. Congrats both for the new chapter of your life.
Huge bravo from Geneva for this stunning refit of MC2, all this work, all these questions, solutions, doubts , surprises, pains and joys, associated feelings… You did it ! Well done ! Keep on and enjoy ! Father Nicolas and Daughter Eline who are following your adventures for years.
Maxium respect to you two. You can be more than proud of yourselves. It is so incredible what you have achieved together. There are very few people who would have seen such a project through to the end in many respects. And even then, the result would probably not look as good as yours. A dream of a boat. I wish you both an infinite number of unforgettable moments at sea with your boat. The world is waiting for you. 🎉😊🤗
The only thing I can add that hasn't been written is you guys, despite the many obstacles, never took a short-cut. I've been with you since first arrival in the shed over three years ago. I too have had my "when" moments which now have been all wrapped up so perfectly with this video.
We are all blown away with Maya's capturing this event, the cinematography, sound and editing has taken us all from Aladino's idea, which seems so long ago, to fact. Each episode, the viewer has been blessed with weekly updates, yet to actually see this massive accomplishment unfold in sequence of accomplishments was just mind blowing. Stripping the balsa core has given us just an indication, that this Cape George has been completely redone, the interior completely redesigned and rebuilt and now resembles those talents of the owners. We all are so thrilled, so very proud of Maya & Aladino and their family who should be applauded for their craftsmanship, daily turmoil in construction and architectural talents not seen on Utube in the past. We all are wishing you great success in the future and pleasant memories from the past, as we have as viewer's. Absolutely perfect Maya, thankyou so much for allowing us your access to life. You have captured beauty in the making, as you are yourself.
I had forgotten about the visa issues but remembered what a pain in the ass going back and forth was. It looks so good sitting in the cradle, heading for the water. I'm excited for you two.
Oh wow. I had tears and goosebumps while watching this. I'm so happy to see that you are finally back in the water. We can't wait to see what the next chapter is going to be for you both ❤
I cannot imagine making my way through a task of this magnitude even if I had sponsors, patrons, and a channel that although it provided some income, we know it takes more than a 9-5 to do and actually slows work while requiring a schedule of posts. You must be feeling great pride in this accomplishment-as well you should. Well done.
Wonderful to have a retrospective on the build. Aladino showed infinite patience on the build and made scarf joints and beam ends that would make any craftsman jealous. He would do well as a marine surveyor. Maya you started out as a wonderful musician and filmmaker, but listened to the tutelage and became a decent woodworker and a great finisher. Finishing well is half the work in woodworking and makes the difference between dime store furniture and furniture worth thousands of dollars. The journey may not have always been fun but it was amazing and it should give you all great pride for the rest of your sailing lives. It is always wonderful to live with a life you built yourselves when you finished it. You worked with her lovely curves and now she is ready to splash.
Maya - This video is a masterpiece and it brought me to tears. Extraordinarily well done, both the video and this gorgeous vessel you and Aladino have created.
Maya now has the greatest video resume for being a producer, musician, narrator, and creator while Aladino now has the greatest video resume as a boat builder! You both are absolute professionals in your respective skills. I'm beyond happy for you.
This comment made me so happy! Thank you so much for being here.
I have watched all your videos, and I believe you have 1 of the most beautiful Cape Gorge . It was a lot of work, but you did it

Probably the nicest Cape George on earth. Due to all the issues you uncovered, then repaired properly, you literally now have better than new.
We hope so! Thank you so much for the vote of confidence!

Well I've followed you two for a long time and have to say that what you have accomplished is simply beyond belief. From your $1 boat to this gem is an incredible achievement and I hope your life continues fulfill your dreams. Congratulations to you both. Dale
Thank you Dale!
Great work.
How cool! So wonderful that you found us here, thank you for commenting!
What a fantastic achievement , now you can start to enjoy your labours for years to come
You have inspired so many people throughout your journey. You are both masters of your craft. You haven’t just restored a boat; you’ve created a masterpiece. Know that you are truly loved by all who have followed your journey.
Wow, thank you so, so much.
Thank you very much Doug!
Aladino is not just a shipwright and boat builder, he is an artist. Like you Maya, but in a different way. I watched you two since early on and am very proud.
I have been watching from the beginning. I’m so happy for you both. Enjoy the world as you rediscover it from the deck of your boat!!!
What a beautiful boat - great work! John 5:24
Amazing. Im crying. Just absolutely gorgeous work, so happy for you!
An epic story, told by a pro. What a perfect way to tee up the launch.
Dr. Steve
Congratulations 🎉It’s your BIG DAY🎉🎉🎉 ITS AMAZING 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you!!
It feels like you have both discovered that a portion of the “payoff” is the journey itself. How else could have accomplished such incredible work over a huge sparse of time. So much to be proud of and such a great example for us…joy is in the journey not just the destination.
Thanks for such beautiful content.
4 years? Amazing. Inspiring. And totally insane.
Thank you very much!
I've been watching all along. From MC1 to today. It occurred to me watching this that if not for you two this boat likely would never have splashed again.
I got chills watching the Cape G on the trailer being delivered
Many thanks to Maia who made a great job of return back in the past. We appreciated the huge work Done. Aladino as a professional made a fantastic work even we don’t know if he has some doubts or discouragements. For Maia it should has been very hard to have a boat totally dismantled . She worked a lot to the new boat especially for the varnish. Congrats both for the new chapter of your life.
I was very emotional watching the video having followed you guys since you were sailing in the Mediterranean. Great job. 🎉
Thank you so much for being with us for so long!
Thank you so much Nicolas and Eline, I'm very grateful that you've been on this journey with us!
A Thoroughly Outstanding Achievement. Do not forget the best is yet to come. Prepare yourselves for enjoyment.
We can't wait :) Thank you for being here Robert!
May your boat be blessed as you are from your Love, and always protect you.
The only thing I can add that hasn't been written is you guys, despite the many obstacles, never took a short-cut. I've been with you since first arrival in the shed over three years ago. I too have had my "when" moments which now have been all wrapped up so perfectly with this video.
Thank you Sandy for being with us throughout this whole thing
What you have both achieved is truly amazing. To say "well done!" doesn't really go anywhere near enough! But well done!
David. What an absolutely wonderful comment. Thank you so, so much for being here. We are very grateful.
We can't wait to see what the next chapter is going to be for you both ❤
Wow what a journey. You two have achieved so much and I've loved every minute;)
Thank you so much for being here with us!
