    15:05 its good practice to pour some oil into the filter to prevent it running dry on start-up. That's also what i've seen factory mechanics do with ktm 450 rally bikes.

    • @yngvehannevig3471
      @yngvehannevig3471 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really necessary on motorcycles and small cars. Maybe on some diesel engines its a good idea, theres already enough residual oil on the bearings and such, as long as you dont instantly redline it at startup, your bike will be fine. And also, since the filter is mounted sideways, it will just be a mess

    Doing your own seat!? SO yesterday chopsy! 😜 You did a far better job than when I attempted a gel insert on the old FZS600! Looks the business mate! Your lucky, lucky botty! Tasty Tekmo Tunes too. I miss that thwarpy, blarrty noise since I binned off the twin. Damn you Euro4!!

    Great job Chopsy, and praise must also go to you’re amazing assistant who seems to bear an uncanny resemblance to Susan Boyle when all glammed up!! From my experience, it always turns out to be less than hoped, so I’ll have a guess at 5.85KG. Regardless.......very entertaining, great personality and the humour is spot on mate. Keep it up!!!

    Lovely looking machine!!.... did you ever consider an aftermarket display with gear indicator ect more like the Duke 890 dash. Only asking because it’s a road I might go down if there recommend as there’s not much information about.

    Hi Chops,
    Great Build! I notice when you built your 701 you used the R&G frame bungs, but you don't appear to have used them on the KTM 690 SMCR. I'm tracking mine and bought a pair but on looking at the mount for them I wasn't 100% that they wont damage the frame mount in a slide, what are your thoughts?

  • @LeonPritchard
    @LeonPritchard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    How's the Gel Insert? I have a new 701 and importing a SC is crazy expensive but I'll do it if its the best option but if I can get away with the gel insert & new cover then all the better (is it too soft?)

    When changing the oil, on my EXC, KTM recommend that you fill the new oil filters with oil prior to installing them in the engine. This helps the oil flow on the initial start up after the oil change is completed. Not sure if it is the same for a 690 but probably something to consider in the future.

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I remember from my exc days, they don't say to do this on the 690. Probably due to being a bit more oil in the engine 🤷‍♂️
