True my truck no problem 52000 miles 2021 XLT 302a V8 I love my truck like I said only reason I like dan was F150 content crazy how he had problems I never had any
I have a 2021 Platinum Powerboost and have not experienced the problems you are having, but the recalls have been plentiful. I had a Ram 1500 limited and it spent so much of its life in the dealership. I had to let it go, it was just a nightmare. I wanted to love the Ram, but it just was possessed. The Ford has so much going for it but I know you become gun shy and worry what tomorrow will bring. The GM diesel has its own issues, but the gas mileage is hard to beat. I think as long as the warranty will cover the repairs, I would stick it out. All the mods you have done have made it a sharp truck and I am not sure you would get that money and labor back on a trade. I think I would wait a while before making the decision so it isn't an emotional one. Good luck.
@@kimle2796those are bad now too. Im overall boycotting automotove i think theyre all scam artists need to go banorupt jo taxpayer bailouts let people who actually care about what theyre doing gave a shot and not making junk to overcharge us for
I can't recommend a diesel unless you absolutely NEED it for heavy towing, the maintenance costs (emissions systems) are too high. Diesel used to be a great option for the "everyman" who needed a slow, reliable, cheap to operate workhorse. They're not that anymore. It's a roll of the dice until you get slapped with a $15k repair bill. Your fuel pump grenaded. Or your def system went haywire. Or your DPF needs cleaning or replaced. If you have a diesel and none of that has happened to you, you're extremely lucky.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I honestly feel bad because I commented on all your vids about how great my 21 3.5 Ecoboost has been. 37k trouble free miles so far. Other than my automatic up windows needed to be reset once. Personally, when I have a motor or transmission go out I usually move on to the next vehicle. However, with high interest rates and no deep incentives to purchase, I'd probably hold on to it a while longer. Good luck, whatever you decide, I'll be tuned in! Cheers!
Thanks I appreciate that, I think the high interest rates are what is keeping me set right now. I managed to get this truck at a good price and good rate literally a couple weeks before the market went haywire from covid. I am hoping to see some bigger discounts later this year possibly.
Dude I feel for you, I honestly started following your channel just because of your truck videos. I have a hour commute to work each way and have racked up 207,000 miles on my jeep. I was looking at buying a new truck so I’d have something reliable if I need it. I was thinking of a new f150 and that’s how I found your channel. Now after this video I’m having second thoughts. Good luck to you man and I’ll be waiting to see what decisions you make.
@MrSmurf459 give Toyota some time. It had pretty good reputation on it's truck. Ford has been King of recall forever. All cars are suffering but Toyota is still doing "relatively" well.
I love these videos on this truck specifically I remember you posting when you first got it and I have been following you ever since. I hate that you’re going through this STILL with this truck. It’s unbelievable. If you do get rid of it can you post the new truck if you do get a new one. Have a good day man!!
Hey dode, remember, once you upgrade to larger tires, you'll need to reprogram the gear box timing for adjusting the speedometer. Wishing you the best in finding your dream car. We really appreciate your incredible reviews
If ford built a transmission that can't cope with tires a couple of inches taller, then they built a bad transmission. You shouldn't need to adjust anything, unless you want your speedo to read correctly. The difference with oversized tires is usually less than 5mph at highway speeds and absolutely shouldn't cause a vehicle to shut off.
That's a tough one. You may have other issues down the road. Quite frankly, I think the quality of new cars in general has gone down, along with all the additional electronics they now have. I was scared when I bought my new 2018 6.2 Crew Cab z71 Sierra that I would have the 8 speed shudder or the dreaded "Chevy shake" fortunately, the truck has been awesome with zero issues.
Sorry to hear about the troubles you're experiencing with your 2021 F-150. I own a 2021 F-150 as well with 68K miles on it and so far it's been running great without any issues, except for a couple of recalls regarding a sensor and a windshield wiper motor. Since you got that new transmission, it might be worth putting another 10K miles on it to see if any additional issues come up. I hope everything work out well for you, whether you keep it or trade it for another truck.
Man, I really hear your frustration and honestly share your experience. My family loved our Powerboost when it was working, but it spent about 3 months at the dealership at repairs, too. We love roadtrips, and it basically came down not trusting the darned thing if it bricked on us. Didn’t matter if I provided video to the dealership, if they couldn’t recreate the problem nothing was done. Good luck on making the best decision for you and yours.
This video is 3 months old now. hopefully, you've been issue free since then and can make it to 50K. You got a great channel. Thanks for all your content.
I have a 2021 Platinum Powerboost, the best truck I've owned. It does everything well, including towing my 30’ speedboat in triple digit heat. It has been perfectly reliable without one issue at 41k miles.
I have a 2021 f-150 power boost 6” lift almost paid off 4 years old. No problems except recalls so far. Had to reset my radio a few times other then that still going strong for now.
Got my 2017 XLT 5.0 brand new back then as primary work truck. At 175k right now and have only had two things break with it, both times it was coolant lines. Just keep up with the maintenance and that truck still runs great. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned.
Just so you know, I've got a Chevy ZR2 with the Duramax in the shop now. It only has 2300 miles on it and started making a knocking sound. So far the dealer has only said oil has a lot of metal in it. They are pulling the motor apart to find the source and see what GM wants to do
Only 2300 miles on a vehicle that is a minimum of 2 years old is pretty crazy (2022 was the last year of the diesel in the Colorado). It's not great for vehicles to just sit for long periods of time, seals don't get lubricated and other issues arise.
My wife is a service advisor at a Ford dealer. The power boost trucks send to be problematic unlike the regular 3.5 and 5.0 trucks. If you have most of your stock parts maybe start over with a non power boost model or go GMC. I have a 23 Raptor and not a single problem in one year and 10k miles.
I’ve owned 3 Silverado’s (08, 15, and 17) and have been lucky enough to have not had any major issues. If I was you, I’d definitely get the GMC 1500 AT4. I love the look and they’ve made significant upgrades to the interior as you’ve already stated. My next truck will be a GMC HD. It’s a crap shoot either way with vehicles these days. Diehards will fall on a sword for their brand of choice and swear they are the best. All brands have issues.
My 2021 Powerboost just had its first issue at 66,000 miles. The main battery under the driver's side rear seat completely failed, with no warning. It was towed today to the dealership. The good news is that the power system has an 8-year, 80000-mile warranty on it. We'll see how long it takes to get back.
First year of powerboost, you are a beta tester. I beta tested 2017 gen 2 ecoboost 3.5 76,000 miles just did Cam phaser repair, not covered under warranty.
First off love your channel really enjoy watching your videos. Now I’ve been a Ford guy all my life I’ve had some great experiences and some bad ones. I am currently driving a 21 Limited and have had a few problems but nothing like you have had. I think you just got a lemon and that could happen with any vehicle. Trust me I’ve had trucks in the past that were in the shop more than in my driveway but that doesn’t make Ford a bad manufacturer, when you buy something it’s always a gamble I think anyway. Ford makes a great truck. If you’re dream vehicle is a Raptor then I would trade this one in and get your dream vehicle. You only live once. Another thing is I think the dealership you have dealt with isn’t doing you any favours I would go somewhere else. Keep up the great videos and hopefully it will all work out.
We are getting ready to buy a 2024 F150 hybrid. Not sure what the out come is as I just found your channel. Love your content. I have always been a Ram/Mopar, but after taking the ford for a test drive we fell in love with it. R
After watching your videos I went with a '22 PB and now just have over 50k with 0 issues that required a dealership. I came from a 21 Sierra AT4 that required lifters at 25k. Ive determined that unfortunately all manufacturers have issues and it's the luck of the draw. There is so much tech in these vehicles that some are bound to fail just based on statistics. I love the PB for the outlets and at 10k miles i realized even if craps out, ill fix it or buy another. Best of luck.
As a GM tech and Ford fanboy, I would move on. Unfortunately you did buy the first gen of the powerboost. Ive read and seen multiple issues with that powertrain. The powerboost adds alot of complexity which is prone to fail. GMs babymax is awesome. i would say that would serve you well with your needs. At my shop the most common problem the babymax comes in for is the engine coolant manifold failing internally. Other than that there hasnt been any real other issues with them. I wouldnt choose any other power train that GM offers. I personally own a 23 f150 with the 5.0 which I love. I would think a 3.5 ecoboost would fit you well. The current gen 3.5 seems to best generation so far. Ford will always be my choice but GM isnt a bad idea.
That is some great insight. Maybe I will reconsider a Raptor in the 3.5 and just give up on the Powerboost. That or the babymax AT4 and do a build on that platform. Really appreciate the info.
Sorry that you’re going through all that you have been with this truck. I haven’t had any such issues with mine yet. I hope you decide to keep it for a while as I have learned quite a bit on your channel. In terms of requests for further mods… I would love to see a high flow cat install on the Powerboost as no one has done this yet.
Part of me says to keep it if you overall like the truck but the other side says get the AT4. That would bring more content and maybe make you feel better/more secure with a more reliable transmission.
I’ve had my PB for 51k miles. Rock solid. I use the generator often. Can run the camper. Charge boat batteries. Even back the house up when power goes out. Such a good unit. I wouldn’t lift it though. Change’s geometry, etc,
Wow. I’m sorry that this had happened to you. Thank you for sharing your journey on this nightmare of a truck. My take on this is. I will definitely be purchasing an older model Ford F-150. I’m finding that the MORE government mandates crap, the worse these newer trucks have been getting.
Thanks for sharing your experience, this would help me to make an informed decision which truck to buy because I’m thinking about the power boost one. Hopefully the newer year wouldn’t have much problem 🤞
My truck is a 2020 F150 so slightly different. I bought it used in 2022 with 53k miles. I now have 110k miles on it. Issues: broken door latch $500, leaking sunroof (still leaks), coil spring snapped when the truck was parked it was an ordeal but in the end not the end of the world, and i got a new thermostat when I did a coolant flush and the truck runs warmer now. Other than that just lots of maintenance. I have a good relationship for with the service department for the most part.
Hey bud, keep your head up. Its terrible to have car problems and frustrating; maybe now your on the down slope and have figured out all of the issues. Hope you keep the truck.
Hopefully you read this, I would look at the new rams coming out with the hurricane engine. Rams use the ZF transmission which is way better than the Ford/GM 10 speed. My transmission in my Powerboost shifts terrible especially in fwd. I have been very disappointed in the truck since purchased in 2022.
What makes you think the hurricane engine is any good it's not proven yet and could be the biggest piece of crap out there. There is literally nothing worth buying out there. The norm these days is for endless recalls and quality control issues. It's all expensive junk.
I can fully sympathize with you. I had a 2022 Powerboost and after a 4 month wait for a heat exchanger and then a unknown wait for a starter at 37000 km (just under 23000 miles, I'm from Canada) I said screw it and swapped it for a 2023 5.0 I will miss the 7.2 KW generator for camping season, but so be it. 5.0 has run flawlessly so far. I think the Powerboost just nee a few more years to work out all the kinks.
My uncle had a 2020 Yukon he bought brand new, in 2 years and less than 10k miles, the transmission had to be replaced, and a full top end rebuild had to be done because of a lifter issue. He traded it in after that for a lexus SUV
This is concerning but i aloreciate the info! I currently have a 15 with 200,000+ miles and am looking to update to a PowerBoost and didnt know this was happening!
I purchased a 2016 GMC Canyon new and at 2.5 years 22,000 miles it had 3 major breakdowns. I traded it for a 2019 Nissan Frontier It's been trouble free and 6 months ago I purchased a 2nd 2019 Frontier. Since I don't like the currant midsize trucks not to mention the cost of a new truck. A friend just purchased a 2024 Tacoma for $50,000. My plan is to drive my Frontiers for the next dozen years or more.
I have a 22 power boost lariat and occasionally when I turn, the truck on the radio will not come on. Otherwise, the truck has been pretty flawless with almost 18 K on it. Have you thought about the new Toyota tundra. Not a big fan of the front end, but they seem to be pretty reliable.
The new Tundra is extremely unreliable. People are getting new engines in them at only $5k miles. I'd take my chances with this new powerboost than with a new tundra.
Looking at a new Powerboost F150 now. Your video helps. The tech scares the crap outta me so avoiding used in case of problems. I want the full warranty. I’m hoping your issues are with it being the 2021 first model year for the powerboost. Good luck. F150 is still my fave though. Really nice truck you have.
The BEST solution is often the SIMPLEST. The issue with almost all modern cars is how complicated they are. I found myself in the market for a new truck this past summer and honestly wasn’t super impressed with any of the offerings. I ended up with a new f150 with the 5.0 4x4. So far it’s been great. It’s comfortable and gets good gas mileage (just averaged a little over 24 mpg from Texas, up to Colorado and back). That all being said, I don’t really prefer Ford over GM over Toyota (but don’t care for Ram products outside of their diesel HD products) just whoever can get me a comfortable, SIMPLE truck.
@@khj697 my ram 1500 new body style has been wonderful. A couple small issues but never stalled out or anything crazy. 55k miles now and so far I still love it. Comfortable ,fast, sounds good. Great truck!
Thanks very much for the video.. This is sucvh a frustrating problem, man.. Ford should have addressed your case very differently.. Do keep us posted! PS your audio/video game is superb.. how you got the audio to work on the freeway is beyond me, and the video panning was excellent 👌
my 2023 whipple 5.0 and my lifted 18 5.0 had 0 issues compared to my 21 powerboost. my 21 PB had an abundance of issues, much like you. My 5.0 trucks have been perfect except for a bad driveshaft in my 18. The powerboosts are not a good representation of f150's as a general statement. All the fleets local to me that purchased the PB's are already replacing them with 5.0's.
@@Clamjammer lol, run the coyote hot to seat the rings and you won't have that problem. Baby it like a spy boy and it will burn oil because the rings don't seat. This is common knowledge.
@@stephenfrost545 yep I ran the truck hard since it was brand new. When I noticed it consuming oil fords first fix was to install a longer dipstick and reprogram the emc to not have so much vacuum under hard acceleration (so oil wouldn’t be pulled into pvc as much ). They did these “ repairs” and the truck continued to burn oil and got worse. The truck is in the shop now getting a new engine. Also, had a new transmission installed at 30k miles Nav screen died at 10k miles Rear differential sings a song at 50 mph and ford says it’s normal. Ford is shit now
@@Clamjammer sounds like you got a lemon. Claim it and move on. I've done nearly a million km since 2017 in 5.0 f150s and they've been flawless. I would recommend avoiding Chevy right now and I'm still not too sure about dodge and their hurricane straight 6. Toyota is also a no go..... It's sad times. COVID destroyed quality
Sorry you’re still having issues Dan. That truck should have been lemon lawed or something it seems. You’re a big reason I bought my ‘22 F150 Powerboost 502A Lariat. Two years and 50,000 kms later I’ve had no issues, but understand that can change at any moment with any vehicle. I love mine but feel kinda guilty for saying that. Good luck!
Personally have a 22 powerboost with 63k miles. Work pays for it but also have had coolant leak down due to a leaky heater and have had the transmission rebuilt. That was at 32k miles. So far though since been fine. If you want bomb proof buy a 2nd gen 5.7 tundra like a 20-21 year.
Dump it right before warranty expires. I had a 3.0 Duramax AT4 it was nothing but a problem. Spent 59 days in shop the first year. Problems started at 2k miles. Have a 5.0 f150 now couldn’t be happier.
I have worked in the auto manufacturing industry for 13 years. Ive owned alot of trucks between GM and Ford over that timeframe. I had a 2015 Silverado and got the same chevy shake you did at 100K. I traded in for a 22 Sierra 1500 Denali Duramax and I totally regretted it. 1. The Engine is amazing and have it on my yukon and that is honestly the only thing I liked in the truck. 2. The seats are so dang uncomfortable, especially anything over 300 miles in a day trip. It gave me back pain and im only 200lbs. 3. The interior real estate in the newer GM with the console shifter is awful. Losing that larger tray cargo area from a 15 felt like I went to a car. I couldnt even fit a mason jar in my cup holdersz 3. The radio and interferce is trash. Mine was replaced twice and kept having audio go full blast with no way to turn off unless went to bluetooth. Too many glitches. I went and built a 23 F250 and honestly aith the max recline seats, its been my favorite truck ive owned. Super comfortable interior. Quality feels a littler on the cheaper side from a feel perspective on the plastics in a Lariat. Especially compared to others, but the seats sold me and im happy with it. I also upgraded to a 60Gal diesel tank and its been awesome! Can get from MI to FL in one tank.
Great video. Sorry about all of the issues you have been having. I would keep the truck for now. I have a ‘22 Powerboost with just over 41k that I leveled with the Roush Fox kit and put in a Magnaflow exhaust. The only issues that I had was the Cats were replaced and the dreaded exhaust heat exchanger leaked and was replaced. Both were done early last year. No issues since. I have a dealer that has been very helpful. The truck has been great to me.
After dealing with all of that, you should keep it. Hell, you have a brand new transmission, keep it for a while and see what happens. Beautiful looking truck, and you have put so much into it as far as the mods it would be a shame to give it up. And you are right about the other manufacturers and you are right, all the other manufacturers have similar horror stories. Believe it or not there are many that are far worse than your situation, but I understand your frustration. Thanks for the video
Sorry brother. Always rooting for you and your build. My 2023 PB is at 28k and have had zero issues. But I do worry. I’m in the PHX metro area also. Hope to run into you one day and thank you in person. Good luck
I bought a brand new 2016 f 150 lariat crew cab. Within a month the brakes started squealing. They said it was dust on the calipers, it never stopped. The radio and my cell phone would totally disconnect so I would have to pair the system almost every two weeks. The wiper would sometimes just wipe on it's own. They changed the lever that controls that. It would happen again. I would get a warning that the passenger door was open. It was not. I would get a warning that my seat belt was not connected when it was. All of these issues were looked at by them with no resolve. The truck broke down on me on the way home from work. It got towed to the dealer where it sat for more than two weeks. When they finally gave me the truck back I drove straight to the Toyota dealer and traded it for a new tacoma. I had the f 150 close to two years. Worst vehicle I've ever had.
I have a 2022 PowerBoost and it has been trouble-free other than recently it was found that the four pin trailer plug was never hooked up. The reason I am posting is that I live in the South where lifting trucks is popular. I have heard many say do not lift a PowerBoost. There are several design factors that can cause major issues- the AC lines, the high voltage lines at the passenger side coiler, extra load on the trans and engine that may be misread by sensors, etc. etc. There are several posts as well online that people started having trouble AFTER leveling them or even having trouble getting it done. I just looked it up and one guy was going on and on about how he lifted his F150 with no issue posting several times making fun of the guy who said don't do it and then when the guy asked how did he not run into such issues and he said, "My '15 Lariat was no issue." So, right there he obviously had not lifted a PowerBoost by the model year. I dont know advice-wise what to tell you but I do know that the PowerBoost is a great truck but it may be too computerized for some mods.
I’ve got a 2022 powerboost that I’ve had some aggravating issues with. A pin module for the radio, transmission control module, Bluetooth receiver module, and still having issues with the infotainment screen. I’ve found a nice little workaround by holding the power button and skip forward button to reset the screen, kinda annoying but no real issues like a full transmission like yourself. So far I’ve really enjoyed the power and efficiency of the powerboost. Unfortunately the trade value on these trucks have crashed hard. Probably can’t get out of it for a few years because of the negative equity 😑
Just picked up a 21 despite some of the horror stories. 50k miles 900 hours. Alot of hwy. No repairs to speak of aside recalls. Hopefull getting one at 50k got me past any bugs it may have had
2021 Limited Powerboost, 52,000 miles. Noticed a leaking pinion seal on the front diff during the last oil change. Ford fixed it under the 5/50 powertrain warranty. No issues other than that. 3rd Powerboost (first hybrid) other 2 had minor issues (cam phasers on one and wheel related issue on the other) all fixed under warranty. Friends have Chevy’s (GMC’s) with rough shifting transmissions and major engine issues related to cylinder deactivation feature, and Dodges with engine issues (valve train related). Also hear about the new Tundra having engine issues. Best approach is to research the most current reliability numbers, find a good local dealer that stands by your truck (whatever brand), buy the extended warranty, change the oil regularly and do the recommended maintenance, and cross your fingers. They all have issues. Sometimes poor maintenance, aftermarket modifications, and abuse can compound the fact that all new trucks have flaws.
2023 power boost 15k miles cylinder 1 and 2 sensor went out. Took to dealership. Wire harness needed to be replaced. They rigged it to run in meantime. Back ordered for 3 months.
Well Dan, this IS a first model year of a totally brand new powertrain. The good news is that you have had things replaced that shouldn't have problems again. My '22 Powerboost is at 57,000 miles right now, I drive 82 miles each way for my commute and Ive had two issues in total so far... the dreaded exhaust heat exhanger and a leaky front transfer case seal. Stick with the truck for a bit more man and see if the issues have been worked out now that you have updated parts in the truck.
Thats kind of where I am right now, how many more things could possibly go wrong? I think it's just a mental thing now of losing confidence in the truck. It's quite possible I trade it in and the next owner has 100,000 trouble free miles.
@GearsGadgets my advice would be to get an extended warranty so that everything is covered just in case but these trucks really are pretty good once the kinks get worked out.... I've got a lot of seat time offroad with mine now.... rutted trails and mud are a good proving ground to find failure points. If nothing else, maybe trade up for a newer Powerboost that has had the first year (and second year) issues corrected.
Been following your F150 Powerboost adventure. I have burned through 2 Powerboost f150. Started with a 2021 then 2023 and both were condemned by transmission issues, the 2023 was worse than the first. Friends and colleagues told me to go to Toyota, but I decided to go with a 2023 F150 Tremor, it has been next to perfect and have not looked back. I use my truck as a tool for work and not being road worthy is not acceptable. My take, I am intrigued with the Powerboost, but I am not convinced it is truly ready for/as a working mans truck, around town and local commuting seems to be fine.
Honestly a point in your video that I feel should be touched on is dealership experience. Nobody wants to deal with the service department, however when you do it’s kind of a make or break for how you feel about a brand/vehicle. I went from an 18 Silverado 1500 to a 2022 ram 1500. Been mostly happy with it but some build quality issues here and there. Took it to the dealer because of front axle disconnect and some niche interior stuff, they fixed everything within 4 hours, had my interior looking cleaner then when I left it, no argument over warranty, and even fixed a taillight bulb they found out which honestly was more than likely my own fault (long story). Was a great experience, everything covered and no argument or issue, and had me happy with everything. If it wasn’t for the fact that ram ditched the hemi I’d recommend the truck especially with the zf tranny as imo it’s light years compared to any of the GM or ford transmissions I’ve dealt with before. Had I gone through the no contact issue you did it would’ve left a sour taste in my mouth. Just my two cents
My 21 Eco is at about 58k miles, no issues as of yet. Runs great. Definitely will be tuning the trans so it doesn’t double shift but besides that. Had a 2012 ecoboost f150 prior and ran it till 180k miles with 0 issues. Luck of the draw it seems.
Sounds like you've already made your mind up on letting it go, or you wouldn't have had this discussion with us and countless hours with yourself. Whatever you decide it will be great content. Safe travels and hope your choice is a happy one!
Thanks, appreciate the support. Honestly I haven't made up my mind. This was one of the first times as a "TH-camr" where I was genuinely curious to get feedback on what people think of the situation. I might be seeking confirmation bias to buy a new truck but I also think I might be capable of being convinced to keep it too.
I commented last time you were at the crossroads with this vehicle. Behind frustrating, because I know you love the truck. I think it’s time though. I would say start researching your next vehicle. Truck market is crashing so you should be able to get a good deal!
I also have a 2021 powerboost. Had some issues when first purchased. Its been perfect since then. Only down side for me is the low cargo carrying capacity. I suggest you try another dealer for service work.
Some people have all the luck. I specifically avoided the powerboost when buying my ‘23 F150 3.5 eco.. the added complexity didn’t seem worth the extra horsepower. 33400 miles so far, no problems.
I feel your pain. I had a 2018 lariat with the 5.0 that had a new engine put in due to excessive oil consumption, rebuilt transmission and rebuilt rear end done to It. To add insult to injury I had 37 other warranty repairs done to it. The truck only had 45000 miles on it. I ended up getting rid of it and purchased a 2022 lariat power boost which I’ve had for 17 months and 15000 miles on it. I have had 0 issues with it. It has only been at the dealership for oil changes. 🤞. It could be that you have gotten a lemon like I did with my 2018. I would not be to quick on giving up on ford trucks. I have 3 brothers with f 150s. A 2015,2016 and a 2017. So far other than minor issues they have had good luck with their trucks. One word of caution. Like any new vehicles on the market today when we start changing things around or changing specs it could have some domino effect with other components. Remember there are tons of sensors in today’s vehicles. Wishing you the best whichever way you decide to go.
What I don’t understand is that all these manufacturers Ford, GM, RAM have all been making trucks for decades now and it seems that over the last few years their reliability has just tanked. Cheep manufacturing and parts and the most expensive vehicles ever with constant issues. That shouldn’t be the case as they have all learned so much over the years. The new Toyota with v6 turbo already had recalls. The Ford with ecobost problems. The Ram has the Hemi tick. It’s just extremely frustrating for the consumer
I have been with you through all your ordeals. I purchased my 2021 Lauriat with no problems to date. I ordered in January 2021 but they did not do the build until July receiving it in August 2021. I have always had a ford from 2007 Ford Sport Track to 2014 F150 . With all your investment, I would stick with it. Just feel you got a lemon in a way.
I have a 22 power boost with 30k on it. I love the truck and hate it at the same time. It’s very quirky. It’s never left me stranded but I don’t feel like it’s something I should keep long term. I’ve had it to the dealer twice for transmission issues and they can’t figure it out. When it’s 30 degrees or colder I’ll fire it up and back up 20-30 feet and it locks up like it shifted into park. Other times it feels like the brakes lock up. First mile or so it feels like the transmission slips around 4th gear. There’s times when I’ll drive 5 minutes before the screen turns on. Bringing it in again next week too see if they can figure it out
I have had pickups from the major 4 (Chevy,Ford,Toyota and Ram. They all make good and bad. My last 3 have been Ram with the 5.7 hemi. The first 195,000 when traded off, second 165,000 when traded off and the current at 95,000. Never had any trouble with any of them. No money spent on them other than maintenance. Just my experience.
This is horrifying to me.I just bought A23I just have over 5000 miles on it and it's sitting in the front yard right now. With a dead battery and they've had it 3 times I mean Montana, it totally sucks.I can't just run to the dealership every other day.I don't live that close.I feel for you bro
I’ve noticed these PowerBoost trucks are beginning to show bad resale value. Try and sale I think is the best option. If the market does crash than your truck will really go down in resale. I want an F-150 bad. And the PowerBoost is the one that I wanted for MPG’s but now having to rethink it.
Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad experience. I’ve been watching your videos since before I got my 2021 F-150 Lariat 2.7L. I’ve had minor issues with mine: window switches not working, various recalls, a broken horn and a leaking transfer case, but nothing this bad. I’m around 40k with considerably less issues so it sounds like a powerboost-related issue, unfortunately. I’d keep it till 50k and then decide. You’d still be under the powertrain warranty at that point so you’re safe.
I had a 2021 PB, had the stereo problem, then really great, until at 83K the transmission threw some codes. They replaced a sensor three times - then rebuilt the transmission - then put a new transmission altogether. The dealer showed me the retail on the PB transmission - it is $12K for the new gear and labor. I arranged a good trade in and got a new '23 F150 ecoboost - no problems and have 50K miles today. The problem is the complete hybrid system - it is so complicated, eventually they will figure it out ... but I didn't like being the first model year, mistake on my part. So, if you think Ford is bad - do some more homework - they all have some really challenging problems too. The real issue with the F150 is the powerboost.
Ill be back in Arizona come September. If you plan to get rid of it I would be interested in taking it off tour hands. I plan to purchase a Powerboost when I get home anyways. Ive been following the build and have saved almost everything you have purchased for this truck to put on my own. Please keep me in mind if you do m. Thanks.
from the research I've seen on the internet a smart way to approach this problem is to dial in what (older) truck you want and then spend alot of time speaking with mechanics and such to find out what span of years are the best for that model. Then go and find the 1 owner guy who really loved his truck and buy from him. Let the man and the truck tell you the "story" of that particular vehicle and then make your decision to purchase that one or move on to the next. If you are looking for another F150 look at the 2016-2017 with the 5.0 motor. This has been the most reliable of the latest version of the 5.0. Brother, I've owned the powerstroke and if you only want to own it while it is still under warranty (any diesel) then the diesel is great but as soon as the warranty is gone, you are looking at MAJOR cost to repair all the different "systems" on those motors....def...exhaust...fuel sys..egr...etc... Or go with a new gas 7.3 f250... i don't know about the new chevy motor... I understand the frustration and unfortunately this problem is not going to go away for any manufacturer..
Former Ford tech here, get out of it while you can. I used to be a diehard Ford guy but after working on the new stuff it's very poorly engineered. Got a GMC personally, love my Sierra. Personally I'd Trade it for an Sierra with the AT4 or X31 package OR hold out for the new ZR2 Silverado that's coming.
Usually i cut loose the vehicles that give me issues. Call it bad luck etc. Only reason i would keep a problem vehicle is if it was a)under extended warranty and b) not my primary vehicle
This is only my opinion, I have always owned Chevrolet/GMC either one from Chevrolet pick ups to GMC. Denali always was very happy with them. It was time to part with the Denali many miles and it started nickel and me went to Toyota actually a sequoia .what a difference in the way, the doors closed , the tight fit ,the quietness of the cabin, I had also purchased a used Lexus SC 430 sports car, it was the same thing quiet very tight feel. Never really had that with any Chevrolet or GMC I owned. Maybe you want to think about Toyota, just saying. Good luck.
What I meant to say was product reliability and workmanship seems superior to Ford and Chevy. Toyota go for 200,000 miles. No problem if they’re well-maintained.
I had to go through the lemon law for my ram 1500. Bought it new. Was in the dealership 12 times. Through the lemon law process. I learned a lot. The law firm will have a master mechanic look at your car/truck. They found the problem. I fixed it on my own dime and continued with the lemon law process and won. I still have the truck and now the cash. It took nearly 8 months for the lemon law process. Was it worth it? I would have preferred to just get what I paid for. However, shit happens. If you have the patience to roll with it. It can do what it’s supposed to do, protect you the consumer. In the end you need to do what’s best for YOU. 2 tips. 1.)Don’t wait. 2)every state has different rules for the lemon law.
Crazy that all these new vehicles are unreliable. I had a 2003 F150 last 180k mile no issues, then a 2005 F150 for 187k miles and had it for 10 years, no issues. The new vehicles are supposed to be better, but barely last 35k
The something happened to me on my Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid. Dealerships giving me the runaround and taking over 2.5 months on the first repair and now back in there to see what happened again after going into limp mode. I am officially done with hybrids. I'd trade that sucker in for the 5.0 Coyote that's tried and true. Good luck brother.
Coming from a 2020 f150 lariat that’s transmission 💩 with less than 30k miles I has the opportunity to try a couple different vehicles. First was a 2020 gmc Sierra at4 with the 3.0…really liked it, but the newer gm interiors are much better. Next was a 23 tundra, it was fine and drove well, but didn’t love the plasticy cheap build feel interior and exterior, had a number of recalls, and just wasn’t thrilled with it. Powertrain is excellent though. I ended up with a 24 Sierra elevation with the 5.3…I could have done either way between the 5.3 and 3.0, they both drive well. The newer gm trucks interior is so well put together and the truck just feels solid. I put bilstein 5100’s on the front and back and raised both 2” to give similar to at4 lift, but bilsteins > rancho. Really happy with how it turned out. Hoping the truck holds up, but would recommend going with something like a loaded elevation and modifying (they have huge incentives on them rn). I really do like ram’s but their pricing is insane
Drove F150s my whole life and never had an issue with them and never been left on the side of the road. Now I own a 2022 powerboost with 20k on it and I just don't have the confidence in it I had in my other F150s I've owned. Three recalls but zero issue with it so far.But now I am starting to here a clunking noise coming from the left rear when accelerating form a stop. Guess I will have to take it to the dealer but like you I hate that.
We have bougbt a new 2024 f150,with a 5.0 coyote .We looked at the hybrid, bit was scared of that $11000 battery if it died after warrenty.I think you got a lemon mate.I have had so many fords and one gave me a tramny problem. FORD REPAIRED IT .waited 6 months for the new valve body. From Canada🇨🇦👍🇨🇦
I have a 2021 3.5 ecoboost it’s been quite good to me. Has 49,000 on it. So far trouble free other than a bad battery that needed to be changed and my APIM went bad aswell. Not that mine would turn off. I just couldn’t receive updates
Well, I am sorry about your experience 😢. My take: Ford is the leading maker in recalls. I would go with GMC trucks. I won't touch Chevy and Stelantis products even if it is free. You are a truck guy and good at it. All the best. Love your contents. Remember, your daughter is watching, don't give up 😊
Buy a 2021 Toyota Tundra. I have one and it has been a problem-free vehicle. The new Tundras have a recall where the dealership is replacing the whole engine.
I noticed every time someone is dealing with driveline issues, the trucks always look the same. You’ll find if you don’t jack em up and turn them into bro-dozers, reliability is much better.
Dealership working on a truck that drives fine 99% of the time, but shuts off sometimes....they replaced the transmission. I'm no mechanic but the transmission is mostly mechanical and the problem looks computer/sensor/connectivity related.
Keep it for 50k miles. I would like to see if all of your time and patience paid off. Good content.
That is something I am very much considering at the moment. I just might not want to keep it past 50K out of fear of more issues.

Sorry to hear all your problems. I have a 2023 Powerboost and just hit 40k. It’s the best truck I’ve ever had.
Good luck.
Time to switch to a Toyota Tundra.

@@kimle2796you made me laugh
Go for Toyota for it's reliability.
@@kimle2796it doesn’t matter the brand anymore! All trucks have problems! Do you not see what’s going on with Toyota!
Thanks I appreciate that. It has been rough for sure.
Hey dode, remember, once you upgrade to larger tires, you'll need to reprogram the gear box timing for adjusting the speedometer. Wishing you the best in finding your dream car. We really appreciate your incredible reviews
I was going to comment the same thing. It really is mandatory to program REV/Mile so the transmission knows when to shift at proper RPM's.
@@heavy198112 the transmission doesn't shift based on speed. Not adjusting it won't cause issues besides mph being off at higher speeds
Not how that works lmao @@biz4twobiz463

It has been perfectly reliable without one issue at 41k miles.
yeah. had two axleshaft issues. otherwise flawless
Was pumped to get this truck then not then again when I saw your comment
I have a 2021 f-150 power boost 6” lift almost paid off 4 years old. No problems except recalls so far. Had to reset my radio a few times other then that still going strong for now.
I’m just happy I went with the ‘21 Tundra. Rock solid at 40k miles.
They are pulling the motor apart to find the source and see what GM wants to do
@@deacon51 wow
Only 2300 miles on a vehicle that is a minimum of 2 years old is pretty crazy (2022 was the last year of the diesel in the Colorado). It's not great for vehicles to just sit for long periods of time, seals don't get lubricated and other issues arise.
@@pnwdweler4100 That's definitely not what caused that engine to fail
@@5.43v You're probably correct, I just wanted to note in my comment that miles that low for a 2 year old vehicle is a bit odd.

The power boost trucks send to be problematic unlike the regular 3.5 and 5.0 trucks.
If you have most of your stock parts maybe start over with a non power boost model or go GMC.
I have a 23 Raptor and not a single problem in one year and 10k miles.
all f150 are junk
I’ve owned 3 Silverado’s (08, 15, and 17) and have been lucky enough to have not had any major issues. If I was you, I’d definitely get the GMC 1500 AT4. I love the look and they’ve made significant upgrades to the interior as you’ve already stated. My next truck will be a GMC HD. It’s a crap shoot either way with vehicles these days. Diehards will fall on a sword for their brand of choice and swear they are the best. All brands have issues.
We went with the 5.0 because of the KISS principle.
Yeah. It’s a power boost. Shoulda gotten the basic 2.7 or 3.5 or even the 5.0.
First year of powerboost, you are a beta tester. I beta tested 2017 gen 2 ecoboost 3.5 76,000 miles just did Cam phaser repair, not covered under warranty.
I had a 2020 f150 5.0. It drank a quart of oil every 1000 miles. Very sad. I went with a 23 ram hemi and put 30k miles on it. Doesn't drink a drop.

He ended up getting a GM. All problems solved. For now. 🤣
You got a Lemmon! Can happen to any brand. I have a very similar 21 like yours, just not lifted. Have 87000 miles on it and have have zero problems.
Part of me says to keep it if you overall like the truck but the other side says get the AT4. That would bring more content and maybe make you feel better/more secure with a more reliable transmission.
Exactly where I am at the moment
Fair.

2. The seats are so dang uncomfortable, especially anything over 300 miles in a day trip. It gave me back pain and im only 200lbs.
3. The interior real estate in the newer GM with the console shifter is awful. Losing that larger tray cargo area from a 15 felt like I went to a car. I couldnt even fit a mason jar in my cup holdersz
What motor did you have?
@@vcash1112 The 5.0
I have a 2022 PowerBoost and it has been trouble-free other than recently it was found that the four pin trailer plug was never hooked up.
The new 3.0 duramax Lzo in Chevy or gmc is amazing. I get 36 mpg highway trips
I'm going to go with an F-250 XLT with the 6.8L. Wish me luck!
Thanks for sticking around. I agree I think this is just a lemon with a lot of bugs to work out.
My 2021 Powerboost is a nightmare. The dealership will half (you know what) fix it under the warranty. Can’t wait to get rid of it.
Man idk that is crazy. My buddy has a platinum powerboost and he loves it with zero issues. He is a medical device rep so he drives his all the time.
So they warrantied the trans with oversized tires and a lift? No hassle? I’m asking because I’m running a 70h tire instead of the stock 65height tire
Crazy that all these new vehicles are unreliable. I had a 2003 F150 last 180k mile no issues, then a 2005 F150 for 187k miles and had it for 10 years, no issues. The new vehicles are supposed to be better, but barely last 35k
Had a f150 as a rental for 2 months, hated everything about it
Bought a Tundra and love it
The something happened to me on my Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid. Dealerships giving me the runaround and taking over 2.5 months on the first repair and now back in there to see what happened again after going into limp mode. I am officially done with hybrids. I'd trade that sucker in for the 5.0 Coyote that's tried and true. Good luck brother.
Thanks, sorry to hear about your troubles.
2022 Powerboost . No major complaints or problems as of yet ..will admit. A bit nervous after watching this 😬
I hope it stays that way for you. I still love the idea of the powerboost and when it’s running, it’s an amazing truck.
I'm surprised they didn't blame it on the lift and bigger tires and didn't want to cover it under warranty.
allot of the problems on the 21 were corrected by the 23 model but even then, you should’ve got the 3.5 or 5.0
We have bougbt a new 2024 f150,with a 5.0 coyote .We looked at the hybrid, bit was scared of that $11000 battery if it died after warrenty.I think you got a lemon mate.I have had so many fords and one gave me a tramny problem.
The 3.5 V6 is an engine Ford put a ton of R&D behind. Solid option unless you really want a V8.
The 21's just had all the problems, my 21 f150 was in the shop a lot
Well, I am sorry about your experience 😢. My take: Ford is the leading maker in recalls. I would go with GMC trucks. I won't touch Chevy and Stelantis products even if it is free. You are a truck guy and good at it. All the best. Love your contents. Remember, your daughter is watching, don't give up 😊
Thanks I appreciate it.
Would go gmc but won’t touch Chevy if it’s free hmmm
@@Rachad2317 you realize GMC and Chevy are one in the same…right?
just got a used one and mine is about 28 days trying to get BC to work from the "prep package". Tech has driven it more than me haha
always wondering if it will have a problem would get me to make a change
I think thats where I am with it. I might push it another 10K miles but I will be constantly shopping for a deal from this point forward.
