    I main dps and I think dps already has the best passive in the game. The ability to blame literally any other role after losing.

      I really will be fighting 3-4 people at once most of the match and the DPS will still think they carried because they won a few 1v1s or 3v2s

    imo a good ana nade feels similar to a good mei wall: you feel like you’ve “trapped” the enemy into a death. the rework suggestions that take away the “purple” part of purpling someone seem to take that away, and I don’t think ana will be much fun to play afterwards
    I won’t comment on the balance aspect because I’m plat, just observing my own feelings around nade and ana playability/enjoyment factor

    Emongg, thank you for being one of the only content creators (the other I can think of quickly is KarQ) who keeps a balanced, informed opinion about these debates in which most content creators just whine about anything that’s hard against their preferred role.

    as a flex player i think fun for me is being able to play characters that i enjoy even if its not “optimal” without getting shut down completely by characters

    i have a feeling that a lot (average metal rank) of dps and tank players (and even supports too) will not be so happy about heal/immort nerfs when their own support can no longer heal/immort them... and that's gonna be interesting.

    I agree with the overall idea he's brought up for sure, although his solutions suggested I think are mostly bad apart from the nade one which *could* be interesting.
    That said, I feel like nade wouldn't need to be reworked if we had tank synergies back with tanks nerfed more toward OW1 directions of power level.

    i honestly think the biggest reason numbers were too off and have to be fixed bit by bit was bc the numbers we went with into ow2 were from ow1 knowledge - 2 tanks absorbed more damage and we needed less burst healing - now they really have to play around to find that sweetspot

    I think a lot of people just misuse the term "rework." The Hog change, fundamentally, wasn't a rework. He's still the same character. He is obnoxious to kill, and has a long range instant kill combo. The Orisa change was a rework. The Sombra change was a rework (she's no longer a character that just doesn't commit to a fight).
    A great example of a power shift would be something like decreasing Pharah's splash damage, slightly increasing projectile speed, giving her shield health, slightly increasing direct hit damage. It makes her more independent so Pharmercy isn't as necessary, but also demands more skill from the Pharah since she needs to land direct shots. You could even go further and give her an ability that uses fuel for damage providing her a ground playstyle that isn't just not ignoring half her kit. This is the kind of thing I think most players mean by "rework."

    I want rein fire strike to reduce charge cd by a bit every person he hits maybe also how far away he hits them from. Echo is across the map but still lets him hit her that's 3 seconds or something like that. You get into the whole team and fire strike them all that gives you 3 seconds back on charge. Make them have to spread out if they chose a brawl comp. Not as great against sniper comp. If you get a fire strike on a Pharmercy pair you basically get you charge cd reset.

    The issue with Ana is… nothing they do will save her pick rate (unless the change is absolutely insignificant)
    They want to be careful to save her pick rate virtually becoming zero, however, if they’re too careful, they wasted time.
    I fear…she has just become too strong for her and the games own good… it’s either nerf her into the ground, or… don’t touch her lol

    The problem with many balance discussions is that they selectively focus on some heroes and abilities but ignore others. Like removing all intangibility/immortality abilities is a fine goal, but then abilities like Recall/Wraith Form/Stealth would need to be reworked too. Similairly, people like to talk about Kiriko Teleport for rewarding bad positioning, but then Sprint and Blink need to enter the discussion as well. The problem is each Overwatch player is in their own bubble of what defines "fun".

      Here's why Suzu is completely different from recall or wraith, and why no one brings them up in the same discussion:
      If you force Recall or Wraith, Reaper and Tracer effectively can no longer engage.
      If you force Suzu, Kiriko can still engage perfectly fine.
      Recall and Wraith only protect Reaper or Tracer.
      Suzu can protect Kiriko's entire team.

    What if anti-heal didn't stop overhealth? So it's still impactful but has counterplay with overhealth abilities providing temporary health till the anti is gone. Be interesting then to give some other heroes overhealth components to spread the counterplay across heroes.

      Interesting idea, but a single damage boost from mercy can be play making, a normal ability window would be like a 5 person damage boost.

    It's weird to me seeing people's narratives against Suzu, like there is so many threats that require a Suzu, you only get one, the counterplay is you stagger your threats. It's a team game, bait Suzu with something like Ana nade before you zoom in with JQ ult.

      Most of the people that complained about suzu are those top 500 and high rank players that forgot they are going up against other great players. In low ranks anti nade is WAY more annoying than suzu

      @@wswann34 I think alot of it is they want to be the hard carry hero and don't want any counterplay for their near guaranteed kill abilities.
      I went through a bit of this in OW1 when I was still a Dva 1trick and they added Baptiste, immo field denied so many 4-6k bombs, I think the game is better with immo field to add counterplay to things that that are powerful and learned to play around it with time.
      I hope these people grow out of their irrational Suzu hate

      I think Suzu should either cleanse or Invulnerability but not both. Give it to a new hero so they can have a niche ability/utility worth picking

      ​@Terribly_Grimm if you are dying to dva bombs that is a skill issue you gotta be bronze cuz this is a bad take, immortality is not healthy in ow, suzu is bad, life grip, and lamp all suck, if anything i would be fine if they were ULTIMATES not COOLDOWNS, it feels bad getting your ultimate shut down or multiple ultimates by a 15 or 25 second cooldown...but seriously as one of those "top 500" players i haven't seen someone die to a dva bomb in months

    I dont think Emongg thought that through when he said these concepts of healing absorb and damage reduction cooldowns could be used for future heroes. Why? Antinade is used on you gotta back up. Go back out, healing absorb is used on you cant push for space. Immortality is used now you can push bap. He gets damage reduction cd put on him by said hero he still doesnt die. Same can be said of Kiriko with a damage reduction cd on put on her by said hero. You cant have these abilities in the same space or they become oppressive. Its already annoying having lamp used then Suzu used after, why would they add something that could make those abilities oppressive? Thats also assuming it isnt added to any other role than support which really cant count on since Mauga got a damage reduction and health steal aura from Cardiac Overdrive.

    I think his idea with heal absorb was to remove the scenario where you need a teammate with Kiriko (a DLC hero that may not be unlocked BTW) in order to do anything about anti-heal. The counterplay to constant anti-nades is mostly to counterswap. If you need a support to swap Kiriko to help with the Mauga mirror, then that's less power in your hands. With heal absorb, every healer with burst healing can do something about the debuff without needing to swap. The odds of having two low-heal supports is relatively low, so it could mitigate some frustrations in solo queue.
    If you put the heal absorb on future characters but leave anti-heal on Ana and Junker Queen, then those new characters will just be worse than the existing characters, OR you will be able to stack anti-heal on top of heal absorb and negate the point of the ability. I think it's worth a shot to implement for a season and revert it in the mid-season patch if it doesn't work out.

    I main rank and honestly for the most part I enjoyed my time with it. Could it use some work sure? But I believe they’re slowly but surely improving. I just hope they make the right decision in the future.

    Hog vs Ana to me just turns hog into Sig. if naded, take cover and keep space with your team, instead of a rock you have a hook, the second you’re naded, if you have distance, try to secure a hook kill, then with your team, dive Ana who has no mobility and only sleep which can’t stack obv

    I don't mind the supports being able to keep themselves alive, but i get really frustrated that they're more lethal than most DPS characters. I shouldn't have to run from a support in my rank b/c they outdamage my dps hero. (and this is just in Masters lol). It's safer to fight a hanzo than a kiri, bap, illari, maybe zen, etc., and that's kinda insane.

      This is true in my rank too, low plat. Except most people can't one clip anybody so if you can't burst that dps they'll get gripped or lamped or suzu'd or rezzed instantly and all that effort was wasted and the supports kill you anyway

    I don’t think suzu is that annoying. Realistically, it only hard counters one aspect of damage every 15 secs. This means countering suzu is pretty simple and can be done with any comp - stagger heavy hitting damage. Force a Kiriko to choose whether to save a burning teammate or cleanse an anti-nade knowing the enemy tank probably has an ult coming up pretty soon and knowing suzu won’t be up in time for that.
    Anti-nade would be easily balanced with an effect time reduction. Force Ana’s to time their nades well to edge out the kill since the purple effects won’t last nearly as long and the team has to capitalize on it quickly.

    I wonder if you let roadhog and Margaret have passive where self healing is unaffected by antiheal how that would play out. Because right now it's oh anti hog and kill him. But it could be oh I'll rely in my supports more to heal me so I can safe breather for when I'm anti'd. And now Ana has to pay way closer attention to hogs breather to get value using it on him.

    A high floor ceiling also means a equal low ceilings. The harder to rise the easier to fall. Get good or play a character with a lower ceiling.

    Spam meta doesnt sound fun. Long cds can be fine. Strong abilities that arnt ults allow you to have an edge each fight at the cost of time.

    They need to balance all Anti-Heals in Overwatch around being -50% healing (Ana & Junker Queen would receive compensation buffs). The healing absorb idea would cause low amounts of healing to be completely worthless, and so it would force people to play main healers more, which would not be great.

      Honestly, junker queen anti ability is balanced because you would see it like once per 3 fights, sometimes 2

      ​@@Ajaylix A key reason they should balance all Anti-Heal around being -50% is for game play clarity; having Anti-Heals of different percentages can easily cause confusion. And even though Junker Queen's is an ult, I still don't think it's healthy for the game for it to completely block healing, because it shuts down other ultimates too hard.

    So that burst healing doesn't become a problem in response to the "healing absorb cap", you could have allied healing reduce the duration on the hard anti-heal from existing anti-nade, instead of filling through a capped health amount?
    This way, healing couldn't bypass the window of opportunity immediately to compound the issue, but it would allow far more heroes counterplay to the anti effect.
    However, this could further incentivise burst damage in response to fit smaller time windows, but could also improve sustained damage?
    Cleanse is its own beast beyond that sadly :/

    I honestly hard disagree with the suzu idea from the video. The frustrating part of it is invincibility and lowering the period only makes it more annoying to the kiriko while keeping it annoying to those on the other side. Lowering the period would also make it a lot worse in most ranks while it would remain a problem at the top. Removing invincibility and keeping the cleanse with a much shorter cooldown would keep it impactful and more fun imo.

      @@engineergaming3830 Because if you change it and don't adjust everything that was impacted by nade or specifically designed to counter nade then you just ruin the balance further. Changing 1 ability is fine, but lack of foresight about how it plays into core gameplay and balance and appropriate adjustments will just make everything worse. That's why the conversation is complicated. You really think that there aren't other healing sources in the game as bad as nade? What about it's counter? Suzu is just as bad if not worse. If you nerf nade, you also need to nerf suzu. They're not gonna do that, so it's better to just suck it up and deal. Nade has counterplay, suzu does not.

      @@azseal2669 that's kind of the point the 5 rules video is trying to make, nade doesn't have counterplay either, besides suzu or deal with it, anti healing is such a huge detriment to a character that you must bring suzu to counter it...
      Mauga Ana and kiriko are powerful because ana counters mauga who is broken so you must have kiriko to counter because no one else can do it, ana grenade would be fine if more cleanses, pure cleanse only effects not suzu 2.0 existed but they don't, overwatch is a hero shooter balanced on a thin wire by a grenade, it shouldn't have to be this way

    hot take: JQ ult and nade are fundamentally different and should be treated as such. one is a game changing ability that *requires* smart planning, positioning, and general skill to build up, while the other only rewards good timing and is able to be chucked on cooldown. an ultimate should be much different than an ability in my opinion. once again, ultimates require good timing and good farming, while cds only need good timing.

      Also, I don’t think she’s that OP, just make her TP somewhere that isn’t safe, the best part is that you can control where Kiriko goes, and the longer you fight Kiriko without dying, the more likely your team is going to win.

    Anti healing should work like B4B trauma damage. Unhealable health that
    A.) Only be restored from being healed or hp pack
    or
    B.) It comes back over a couple seconds that way the can still be healed just not to full hp.
