This is absolutely incredible footage, I knew her final departure from Liverpool was filmed in color, but not New York! Very surprising amount of footage too, with how much color footage costed back then it's surprising they filmed her for so long here.

@@oceanicstarline1899 We never know how the colour perceived by the human eye/brain compares to the actual colour. I mean, I ever thought that main mast and foremast were painted the same colour, but looking at this footage, it appears that the foremast is the same buff as the funnels, while the main mast is brownish (like the bulwark around the bridge roof), as I'd expect from what we know WSL masts had been painted when Titanic etc. was around, 48 years earlier...

My great-grandfather served in WW2, stationed in England, and the Britannic was the troopship that took him there. In a small way, this ship which safely delivered one of my ancestors is why I'm here today.
This video truly marks the end of an era, the last departure of a White Star Line ship. And while she was scrapped long before I was born, I'm happy to say that I have a personal connection to the last White Star liner.

Almost like it is from a different era. Cunard Line didn’t take to much care of Britannic because you can see the rust on. What an amazing ship. You will be missed Britannic 3

Ships do rust. They sit in water all the time and are made of metal. This is her last voyage, no need to spend unnecessary money on paint. The ship was going to the scrapyard.
Yes Cunard did priorize the Queens over WS modest ships. She still had a fruitful career, this was just the end of it.

She was a fine old ship. I remember seeing her at Prince's Landing Stage in Liverpool as a child, as I waited for my dad to arrive back from New York, probably from the same pier as Brittanic sailed from, i.e. Pier 90. There are things in life that should be preserved and kept around. These are the modern day equivalent to the ancient treasures of long ago. Preserve our modern day technology. This was a time period of opulence and sheer beauty. I don't like how this gets destroyed. If I was a zillionaire this would be my garage of Ocean Liners. Let's preserve our achievements. This is our heritage like the old buildings on land that should be valued and well kept. I would rebuild all of those great ships to exact specs of original design.I value our heritage and history! I really enjoyed this video. Thank you.
