I think we all appreciate this because Phish is for real and pure feeling and talent. they are covering a masterpiece written by George Harrison and performed by the Beatles with Clapton. That was an amazing combination of feeling and talent as well. it's just a rocker's salute to the predecessors. keep jammin. gotta love this (Beatles/Clapton and Phish forever!)
This was my first “live” Phish experience via a $160 VHS a buddy of a buddy bought from a scalper... God bless that buddy of a buddy for opening my eyes to an experience I’ve experienced live exactly 160 times! Keep on sharin’ in the groove!
it looks like Trey is wearing one of Jerry's t-shirts circa 1985. seriously, that thing is like 8 sizes too big for him. I love how dorky they used to look.
can't wait until MMD happiness is a warm gun is a hard song to pull off, especially after their energy playing while my guitar gently weeps, energy that is spiral piercing gradient razor trey's fingers
after watching both of these vids (this and the george harrison tribute) I think Phish's performance is better. not just as regards the guitar playing but the arrangements. Phish plays this song as a 'guitar song' leaving plenty of room for trey to do his thing. claptons versionhas many more layers and structure. both are amazing and Im not saying this song makes either better, just that trey's playing in this vid(and phish's guitar-centric arrangement)is more suitable to this song for my taste.
clapton recorded the solo on while my guitar gently weeps for george harrison they were friends, and trey played it like clapton for the most part, how can you say he couldn't carry a solo like this, thats amazing to me, Ill say slowhand isnt as flashy as trey, but clapton can carry, lay down and fuck any solo he wanted
Hell yeah he could he could carry this solo and 10,000,000 more Clapton is the epitome of guitar. Trey is good but he is so different from Clapton that it wouldn't be ethically right to make a comparison like that.
This was long before that one... maybe Prince had heard it, he did know who phish was at least, and invited them to one or two parties at his house. Trey talked about how they didnt serve drinks but single serve cereal boxes on trays instead.
Warm Gun is about shooting heroin, I'm almost sure. John was still using while the White Album was being made. There's been a lot of debate about this song's meaning, especially after that whole Manson mess. I need a fix cuz I'm goin' down Down to the bits that I left uptown I need a fix cuz I'm goin' down

The rabbit hole is DEEP!
Anthony Longobardo welcome to the club buddy! Just don’t lose ur job to them like my uncle did!
My Dear God! Thank you, everyoone, everything to witness to this beauty.
A prime example of Trey knowing what the fuck he's doing. Virtuoso
Great version of Happiness is a Warm Gun! WMGGW is my favorite Harrison song, but 'Happiness' should get some praise here as well. Great cover!
Just played at Jones Beach on July 3!!
Phish paying tribute to the masters. Makes me appreciate them in this instance.
love those tones.
great solo!
awesome!
That transition from "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" into "Happiness is a Warm Gun" had to be a tough one. Two very different songs.
Brilliant.
They always did good covers.
wow...heavy song

I've always theorized he was being Jerry for Halloween with the Jean's and huge black tshirt, lol.
trey is a jedi.
haha i'm diggin' these beatles covers lately
Damn. So good
Engage ended at about 6:10, then Happiness cut in.
Jeepers, seems like the crowd had no idea what song "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" is.
omg mr. chair it never ends
Did they cover the whole White Album? At the beginning of the video, that was the end of Bungalow Bill, right?
yup, they cover an album whenever they play on Halloween, a "musical costume"!!!
they fucking crushed that Gently Weeps. yowza
3:41
You're welcome
love that part from 7:18 to 7:52
+whatt ever I love that part from 0:00 to 9:17!
appreciate
seen clapton and i've seen phish, you cant compare them its two different styles of playing.
3:40 to 6 min mark...holycow
These 2 songs are next to each other on the 'white' album. Interesting that they did both of them.
If you havent figured it out by now, they actually covered the whole album at this show! 3 sets, with the middle one being the White Album
@@Drgnhrtstrng yes, I figured it out by now.
a+
Did they have to pay Yoko to do this?
can't wait until MMD

you know they slept well after this show haha
👌
agreed
DR tightwounds ?
Eric Clapton, please weep and apologize to George's ghost, for Trey hath gently spoken.

Sounds like Prince solo for this song
This was long before that one... maybe Prince had heard it, he did know who phish was at least, and invited them to one or two parties at his house. Trey talked about how they didnt serve drinks but single serve cereal boxes on trays instead.

I need a fix cuz I'm goin' down
Down to the bits that I left uptown
I need a fix cuz I'm goin' down
I swear that looks like theamazingatheist
....true, but he's trey
c'mon Richard. Invest in a thesaurus...
Trey is lightyears ahead of Clapton.
wtf ????? he thinks he is clapton...... plzzzzzz
No, he knows he's better.
this is really good but not as good as the beatles i dont think any band not even phish can capture their magic
they capture A great feeling, though!!!!
It's more of a tribute to, rather than an attempt to, capture the Beatles' magic.
