    Hey audio friends! Check out my new album, produced in my home studio. It's not generic garbage, trust me. I think you'll like it: distrokid.com/hyperfollow/cthreep/karma-harm

    One of my favorite bands is Muse. They are really great at transitions. I saw them about a week ago, and they had stuff going on the whole time! They had different intros to the songs, and it was great. I mean you don't have to go all out with the effects and set pieces, but you should be able to hold an entertaining show.

    Good tip for singer, or anyone in band with a mic: when talking to your audience, try to keep banter in the moment, like what a great night this is, or we're having fun, pretty much anything along the lines of making the crowd feel like they've picked the best place to be.
    I mean, keep it real, but yeah, positive reinforcement generally works.

    When we were gonna cover Brown Sugar by the Stones, we must have played it together with n without the vocals/guitar, saxophone solos more than 50 times.
    By the time we played it live, we knew it by heart n very comfortable with it to the point that, had we not truly love the music we were making, we could have done it on autopilot mode.
    Practice, practice, practice.
    Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse.

  • @davidlalremruata

    We worked just as hard on originals but a good cover can really bring a band together.
    Originals are great but when it's from only one of us it became something like an extension of the composer's solo effort. Though that is of immense importance, we need to write a song in which every member contributes something. If not then at least, a couple of the members should write together.

    To be honest, I don't get how a click track should enhance your performance. Sure, if your band members have trouble keeping time at some pieces it
    may help during practice, but when you go out to play a show you should already have fixed that.
    Its ok if the chorus or the solo end up being a little bit faster, It even helps to spice things up.

      Not a bad suggestion for a good middle ground - rehearse songs with a metronome and then play with live shows without one. But when 4 or 5 band members are all trying to play super tight, a metronome makes all the difference in a song sounding polished vs sloppy. Also, in that little clip I showed of me playing with my band, you'll notice I used a drum sample pad. Many of our songs had samples that I triggered with the sticks and those samples were set to a specific metronome, so that wouldn't be possible if we were playing even at a slightly slower or faster speed. Not all my samples were simple shaker sounds or bells, some of them were 15 second clips that played alongside our song.

    • @David-yl6bc
      @David-yl6bc 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, most likely my imagination is kind of limited because we are playing as a trio :-). Maybe nailing the timing will be harder with more band members. Nice channel btw!

    • @osareafallire
      @osareafallire 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You always think you're tighter than you are (girls, am I right?). A metronome keeps you honest. Truthfully, my band doesn't use a click track, but we'd probably be better if we did because I know we get off tempo fairly often which, as a bass player, I feel tremendously guilty about.

      In a live setting letting the music breath is what makes it human and artful. I am a drummer/singer with 35 years experience and if you need to be using a metronome on stage you may not be ready to be on a stage. playing with sequences? fine for studio recordings but maybe as songwriters and arrangers figure out what is important about the song and trim the fat for live concerts. This is opinion, but a drummer, a bassist, a guitarist, and a song played with honesty and proficiency is what made all the great bands great.

    • @osareafallire
      @osareafallire 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Number one job as a live band is to perform. I like to tell myself that I don't have the right to be meek. I can feel anxiety later. Gotta make an ass of myself if it'll entertain. I'm 48 and act like an 18-year old doofus. And I'm barely good enough to keep up (playing less than 6 months). I guess it doesn't matter because my bandmates tell me it energizes them to see me go bonkers. Best of luck with it brah. Anxiety can be brutal if it's in charge.
