the one thing i noticed when performing is how important it really is. I used to think that singing was the biggest assest to have on stage, but recently i discovered if you dont have any energy on stage, the music itself is boring and bland. I now feel that the performance portion is 100% more important than the actual singing. Thank you for the tips!
Depends on the music, loud rock music requires some performing yes, mellow acoustic singer-songwriter music, not as much, there its more about steadiness and charisma.
I Remember being homeless in New York City in 2015, Now im watching this after i went back to my country in the middle east!! Crazy how life can turn around in the matter of seconds! actually dropping tears rn, Just wanted to share what i feel with y'all.
Tbh, I didn’t really look into my stage performance because I wasn’t getting any gigs but this video gave me such a push to practice even if I haven’t gotten gigs yet!!!! When the time comes I’ll slay just like you did in this video!! Thankiuuu so much I didn’t know I needed this😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️ Good luck to all singers out there who trying to better their careers in any way possible ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the tips! I’ve just joined a band as lead singer & I didn’t realise how much stage presence makes the performance with some of our tracks, it’s out of my comfort zone. Thank you!
These are just fantastic tips! One that I’d like to add that’s helped me is looking up and focusing on the audience members. It’s normal to avoid this at first, but getting comfortable looking at individual people makes you a better performer
Absolutely!! That can be one of the hardest OR the most rewarding parts, is living with having all the attention on you in that moment. Pressure makes diamonds though!!!❤
As a hard rock singer, I found these tips to be very helpful. Thank you very much! Interestingly, I used to be a metal vocalist when I was younger, and I had most of these tips down naturally as a performer. It's funny how we learn and forget things over the years. Keep up the good work.
I have a show tonight and found this video! In the first minute you completely gave me a new perspective for performances. Your tip to be joyous and imagine you’re showing your friends what you’re excited and passionate about is BEAUTIFUL! ❤

Dress rehearsals was apart of us with the girl group I was with in high school. But I never thought about doing a dress rehearsal for possible problems.....I have a show that I recorded I was addressing an item. So, thank you so very much on this.....
Absolutely you have to get as close to 100% comfortable as possible on stage. Even with all my preparation, I’m usually only ever about 80% comfortable on stage as my costumes can get pretty elaborate, but that’s better than being 10% comfortable because that takes away from your delivery vocally. I wish you all the best with your future performances.
@@DESTINEAK thank you very much. But I was much better back in the day. But I am glad when I can get to 80, 85, 90, 95 %🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Mainly I am glad I am singing. So many people have more but there fears won't allow their dreams to come true. You have energy to give me half and you would still have a lot. You go young lady. Have a wonderful day and thank you for the well wishes.
Such great advice!!! I watched this video with great interest as I am a true student of stage performances. You hit all of the main points. One quick word of advice on exercising before a gig: Don't over do it! One time, I was so pumped up before a show - I had my band begin with a long intro (to build anticipation) and during it, I was doing push-ups and jumping jacks and running in place...When I finally went on stage, I was tired and out of breath, lol. It was awful!!! Oh, a second word of advice to singers (and all musicians), invest in a little blower fan for outdoor (or hot indoor) shows. I just played a fair this Summer, where it was 102 degrees. There were no fans. It was awful and it affected my vocal range severely.
Hands down the BEST video I found on this topic - about to perform my first stage gig with my electronic band but only me on stage, so this helped tremendously, very specific and applicable!
I'm a dancer new to performing and I'm still trying to be more present while I'm performing. I feel like I black out during the performance lol and afterwards I'm like, I don't think I looked at anyone!!!! These are great tips and you are empowering in your delivery. Thanks!

Now that my show is changing and I don’t have an instrument to hide behind, I realized I have no idea what to do with myself on stage. This was just what I needed! Thank you!!
I am so thankful I saw this. I am rehearsals for a Burlesque and Kink show. Our first concept for the scene didn't work at all. It was boring. Now I have a whole new idea and will be following advice about anchors, and more crowd engagement. I am so excited to share with the person who is going to sub for me. They will be inspired too!

I am taking so many notes ! Your video is great and super explainatory. I haven't done shows in the last 10-12 years and I just started a new band. I don't want to do the mistakes I used to do on stage and will definitely be working on it :)

I use performance CDs. It is better that way because you can have your adlives in the places they are supposed to be and keep as close as you can the way the song sounds so the audience can join in song with you
Great tips
Gonna try plug the mike into a audio interface 😊
