I'm late to the party, but the comment about this being the best time to approach someone cold in your life after a gig, makes so much sense and really takes the anxiety out of playing live. And introducing yourself to everyone is so smart!!
If you guys are taking suggestions for videos, I would love to hear your take on performing for social media. I'm very curious if you have any ideology on performing for socials, that is separate from performing live in person

Wow! Idk why this has soo many low views, I think this is one of the best and most informative videos you’ve done although it’s hard to categorize all your videos and put a hierarchy on them persay. I’ve been watching obsessively. I lowkey hope you don’t blow up because everyone will then understand just how much work it takes to becoming an artist and there will be more competition for me but I have already recommended your videos to some of my artist friends and will continue to do so. Thank you for the content! I appreciate both of you. Truly.

Vrauss yes you’re right! It’s human nature I guess to want to try and take shortcuts as much as possible. Ppl naturally think going viral is more important that putting on a good show

@@Burstimo I slept on this video and had some thoughts
What do you guys think about charging for gig tickets at about the cost of 1x drink, including that with the ticket and advertising that? My plan is to provide unique drinks that pertain to my brand, to the venue

Okay but what if I don't actually want to play near to my local community because I'm sure if I will start here, it won't be able for me to move forward and I will be stuck in my country. What should I do if I want to have a gig in another country but I don't have enough money and how to catch people from for example UK if I'm from another part of Europe.
(Thank you for your videos, you're creating so good videos about music industry and marketing. It helps so much)

Have you got any tips on how to get a support slot ? Even if it’s for smaller artists. This would really help

    So much good stuff here!
If anyone wants more on what to do ON stage, there's a page 'on stage success' that's been a revelation to myself and my band. Go check them out!
Perception really is a fascinating human trate...
Filling smaller venues creates way more of a vibe, and finding those with a good local patronage helps, too.
If the venue has decent house sound and lighting, that will help you out to create more of a visual effect and impact on the audience...you won't have to work as hard to create energy.
Lastly, make sure you and the venue (as well as any other artists on the lineup) are a good fit. This isn't as important when you start out, but worth considering once you're 'making a name' for yourself.

I would disagree that we should encourage artists to play free gigs, with the worry that people won't want to pay 5 dollars to see someone they don't know. If there is live entertainment, that's someone's time and endless hours of hard work leading up - its an insult to artists. And like mentioned about PR companies, you wouldn't reduce their service's cost because it would be insulting to what their time is worth. Also we are talking 5, 10 dollars - to expect people to spend that on a pint and not on an hour long set is ridiculous. If you as an audience member didnt enjoy the set thats not on the artist thats on you not doing the research before to listen to the music so you know what you are getting yourself into. Just my two cents. I love your videos - very informative and engaging but this point rubs me the wrong way 🙏

      Ross K, how are you?
Both the pay to play/exposure/play for free idea as well as the suggestion to play covers can be controversial.
The way my band and I try to think of it is on a horses for courses approach.
We work damn hard to promote our original music, and we do as much of that as possible. However, some venues and crowds want covers, so we'll do what they want and win them over as fans. In that way we get what we want - to play music for people to enjoy, make some money and win some new fans.
Wrt free/pay to play, again I feel we need to ask what value we're getting from the show that's either worth more than the $$$, or worth more than we had to pay in to play the show.
Some artists refuse to pay for less than a set fee, all good, and more power to you if that's your standard.
And I'd love to see artists - and even full bands, like us - able to charge a fee that could sustain us.
We just gave other metrics as we consider, too.
Hope this shares a different perspective without seeming judgy. 😊😅😊
Best of luck in your music!

Having great chops is helpful but doesn't ensure a great performance. One well-known guitarist I won't name here has phenomenal chops but no stage presence. He can make his guitar sing with his violin-like tone and phrasing but when I saw him live he had the stage presence of someone playing in a studio room or practicing alone at home.
The performance was lifeless, and a fellow audience member yelled "Turn it up!"
The stage is no place for shyness.
So much goes into being a great live performer. That's why so many great musicians have been poor live performers while maybe being great studio performers.

      Hey there! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Natalia here.
As a solo acoustic musician, I have been performing live at various venues for close to 20 years now. I find it so exciting that you’re open and ready to share your talents with the world! 🌟 I am all for helping encourage other females to get into the industry because we have shortage of female musicians where I’m from! I know, it’s crazy! 🥹 If you’re open to chatting a bit about some the struggles you’ve been having starting up, I would love to exchange insights! I think that it’s amazing that you’re starting to build the courage to take those steps into performing live and securing bookings!! 💫
🎶🎤🎸☺️ Super informal convo if you’re open to helping answer a few questions for my research. I am so happy to share any helpful tips with you about getting into the industry. 🥰 Do let me know if you’re up to chatting! Thanks darlin!
