The original version "La famille Bélier" is also worth watching, it's of course in French but doubtlessly has an English dubbed version. In it, french singer Louane sings a different song, a clip of which is on youtube (Je Vol Louane), . It's a more trenchant song as with it she declares that she's leaving her family.
I have terminal cancer and lòoking at my rememberence song. I believe i found it. The passion the pain, sacrifice. The use of handsigns. And innonence has it all. ❤
Although annoyed her family gatecrashes her audition, the song and vocals really only come to life when the starts singing and signing to them not the adjudicators.
The song is Both Sides Now, written by singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell and first recorded by Judy Collins in 1967. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Both_Sides,_Now
@@juliandelphiki2504 I believe some of the cast were deaf . However I did read that the directors early life experiences influenced him to do this film . Kudos to the original cast . It is a beautiful movie too. I believe it should have been given more recognition .It was the first connection that I`ve seen anywhere that connects both song and sign . That bit I do love . It becomes an inclusive part of both deaf and hearing peoples. It helps break the barrier that denies deaf people from lyrics and understanding a song . There should be more or it . The deaf characters are portrayed by deaf actors, unlike the French film.
