got it for a fam member for 450eur new in europe. Worth it for old people that want a small form factor in the pocket that we grew up with but with still big screen to easily see smaller things with their worsening vision. The lack of front screen is a bonus for durability and people that want the barrier between them and their phone and the people that don't want all the extra techy stuff. After all old flip phones didn't have the front screens
I bought on during BF sales. $799. Love the included frosted case. The 33w charger is really good too. When I opened the box I was wondering what that smell of perfume was, where it came from. Then Motorola send me a survey asking what I thought of the perfume. LOL ... interesting thing to perfume a box.
They are probably considering using scents to keep their customers interested in their products. Kind of like driving pass your favorite food spot and smelling it. It's hard not to stop when that smell hits your nose.
I think I will get one. I don't need a fast phone and the price has come down to four hundred dollars. The main reason for getting one is so I can fit it in my front jeans or pants pocket. I don't want to take a chance on it falling out of a back pocket or a shirt pocket. I should get one soon because my current phone has had a swollen battery for a while. Thanks for the review. It was very clear to understand for someone like me with limited knowledge of phones.
Mine from memory did not (it's been a while since it was on my test bench!), but this might vary by region (and mine was a review unit, might have gone missing before I got it, etc...).
Nice -- though to be clear, when I'm mentioning prices they're in Australian dollars (and the local market here is nearly all now buy outright, no real contract kind of stuff, whereas my understanding in the US is that it's still largely very subsidised phones locked to specific networks).
How is the service with cricket with the razr? Have you experienced any drop calls and how is the 5G speeds with it? I’m currently planning on switching from T-Mobile cause the bill with T-Mobile is much for me to pay.
@@NsaneBunnyVapez The service/signal reception has been about the same as my iPhone 15 Pro Max on AT&T post paid... But I'm continuing to test both. For example I was at a restaurant in Plainfield Indiana and I noticed that my razor wasn't receiving good signal with Cricket so I pulled out my iPhone 15 pro Max and realized it was not receiving good signal either....
Generally yes -- about the only issue that you might hit (which might not be as big an issue for you, tastes and needs vary) is that there's no optical zoom lens on the Razr 40 compared to the S20 FE.
I would love to buy this phone BUT I am so worried about durability. I've heard the plastic screens on these things are not scratch resistant at all. How was it for you?
That have a level of scratch resistance - but yeah, not as solid as full glass, because how could they be? I didn’t hit problems but the review period wasn’t really long enough to test that kind of thing. I’ve covered foldables since the first generation and they do seem to be improving on this score. But you do still need to be a bit more careful than with a regular smartphone.
Folding capability aside, the Razr 40 should be a touch faster -- been a while since I tested the A53 -- and that price is pretty nice. But ultimately the reason to buy or upgrade from a phone of that generation (presuming you've not broken it, it still runs as it used to, etc) would be for the folding function.
@ianwest1624 older a54?!?! they were released around the same time. i have both the a54 and the Razr....the Razr is much better in many aspects...but i love the a54 it is a great device..
@anthonylawson518 The moto lags way too much, in my opinion. Currently using the s23 fe, and it's wayyyyyy better. That came out a week apart, and the quality really shows

Yeah, it very much should have seen a price cut by now, especially with the existence of the Razr 50 -- though that's yet to launch here, just the Razr 50 Ultra which I reviewed a few months back: th-cam.com/video/ThWMizPpl54/w-d-xo.html
Ir the phone gets cheap and you really want a foldable it makes sense I would buy it I wouldn’t care to much about cameras and simply want a google looking phone. Still consider update support because Motorola performs badly on this subject
You weren’t wrong about that price drop. They did it in less than 6 months. Its carriers in the US selling them for $100-200. Its because of the rat race between the big tech companies. They keep releasing new even more expensive phones every year. At this point next year certain flagships will be considered midrange. The midrange will become the low tier. Its weird that our society does crap like this but hey, at least we get expensive tech for cheap.
Answering was via opening (or at least that's how I did it while I had it, kind of the point really) -- sadly it's had to go back so I can't check further than that.
Yes, you can receive all calls but make calls for favorite contacts only through the loudspeaker mode. For making calls you have to select the contacts panel in external display settings first.

Really good review of the Razr, and I like the cream color. Thanks for your review!
You're welcome -- glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent review. Well detailed info. ;)

How much of an upgrade is this over the 2022 model?
Did this standard one come with an included case in the box? I'ver seen the ultra one does but not sure on the cheaper version, thanks
Mine from memory did not (it's been a while since it was on my test bench!), but this might vary by region (and mine was a review unit, might have gone missing before I got it, etc...).
i just got one...no case on box
I got mine the other day from Cricket (here in the US) for $200

I'm getting one from cricket. How is it holding up so far?
Got a S20Fe 5G where the battery is starting to get bad. Can get this for 300$. Is this an OK upgrade to the S20FE?

Just have to treat it as if it were more important than your own life.
is it worth it coming from a Samsung A53 and for $499 aud?

I have this and the Samsung s23 fe for Metro by T-Mobile and let me say this razr phone is greatly underpowered. It's basically a mid tier flip device
That's fair -- and it's priced accordingly.
@@AlexKidman it performs worse than my older Samsung a54 5g, isn't worth the asking price in my opinion with all the hiccups

can you add your own pictures/gifs on the cover screen clock display? it's a feature i love with my current z flip 3
No, there are a few preset ones out of which Lunar is the best which shows the moon phase.
I wish the ultra had this colour to match my starlight macbook
Yes! Not so much to match macbook but the Ultra in Vanilla Cream would look awesome.
This colour will match my TicWatch Pro 5 in Sandstone :D

Thanks for the reply - always tricky given phones have to go back so it’s good to know it is possible.
Merci beaucoup @EduXploR
fitting review considering its being reviewed by someone with razor like carnivorous teeth...
