    When people buy this game, they need to understand. This is not "Monster Fighter". It's Monster HUNTER. You're going to be tracking them down and killing them. You'll need the right tools for things. You aren't going to be some crazy ninja assassin. You're gonna be hunter trying to take down giant creatures

    As a newcomer, the hardest part of the game was the first week. Especially choosing a weapon. It's so slow and confusing at first, but when you find your weapon, it goes down hill from there. When you figure out how to capture monsters and learn the crafting system and armor upgrades, it gets better, new monsters become larger and harder. I legit stopped playing cod, gears and other shooter games to grind out hours in this masterpiece. 9.5 out of 10

      Why force someone that isnt interested in grinding to keep playing? I understand the love of the game but if after a few hours you still dont enjoy the gameplay there is no reason to beg them to keep playing it even longer since you essentially just keep fighting more difficult monsters to get better gear and thats what makes up MH games. some people love that but others dont enjoy grinding and prefer storytelling. "a few hours" is more then enough time to see if you enjoy the direction game is going in.

  • @trayfalgar3588
    @trayfalgar3588 4 ปีที่แล้ว +131

    I really recommend this one. To all newcomers, don't rush. Move at your own pace, learn the movements of the monsters, be patient. Yes, there's a time limit but 50 minutes is plenty enough to take down 3-4 large monsters. Choose the gear you're most comfortable with and grow on that. Don't think of it as an action-packed game but more of a rhythm game. Time your dodges, your great sword charges and even your item management. I swear, if you'll get the hang of this game, nothing is more rewarding than going on a successful hunt you carefully planned with. Enjoy!

    • @TheNameTooSexyToShow
      @TheNameTooSexyToShow 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      50 minutes time limit? Can I walk around in the world without this time limit? I want to hunt, but I would also love to just walk around in the forests and mountains, just enjoying nature. I used to walk around in the world of Skyrim a lot, just listening to the birds singing, the water flowing, the wind blowing, just watch how the trees move while the wind blows through them. Now I want to play Monster Hunter World and would love to enjoy the nature in this world as well. Is it possible? Or I am limited to 50 minutes to walk around while doing nothing but listening to birds singing, water flowing, etc.?

    • @WisdomAkpan211
      @WisdomAkpan211 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jimwelmh1421 Well first of all, tempered monsters minus deviljho, lunastra, behemoth, leshen, and the arch tempereds were already in the base game once you finished the main story. The cracked version that I got was world updated as of march 2019, which includes all the free title updates up to that time, minus certain events. This meant that I was able to fight all the available tempereds (odo, legiana, etc) including deviljho and lunastra.
      So for me to get all the events for the arch tempereds, ancient leshen and extremoth, I modded them in via nexusmods. This gave me all the arch tempered events, the ancient leshen and extremoth events and a few more goodies.
      That's how I still managed to get a taste of the hardest difficulty mhw had to offer with the cracked version. Hope this clears things up for you😁

    • @WisdomAkpan211
      @WisdomAkpan211 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jimwelmh1421 To fight tempered monsters all you have to do is go on expeditions, find blue tracks of any monster and do that until you get investigations.
      Starting off though, you want to get many investigations so your first few investigations isnt necessarily to fight the monster initially, but walk behind it for about like 20 minutes to accumulate more investigations which can also give you other monster tempered investigations (works just like regular investigations)
      That's how you grow your tempered investigations for monsters. Arekkz made a good video about it. Just search "how to get tempered monster investigations" and find Arekkz. I cant believe you haven't fought tempered monsters yet😅

    I am a newcomer to the series and this game has made me fall in love with it. I've been looking for a game for so long with these quirks. you have to actively stratergise your hunt on the spot which is what I really love about games such as this one. I hate the fast combat of shadow of war where the fight is over in 2 seconds. In Monster hunter world you have to study the monster you are hunting before going in for the kill which is what the middle earth series tried to do but failed

      I think there should be a function to open the hunt to online friends, and it works mid hunt.
      It should be an item called SOS flare or some SOS item.
      Because I don't own the game I can't be more precise...
      In short, watch the cutscene then call for help with the SOS and your friends will be able to join the hunt.

    The T Rex looking guy, believe it or not, is actually a pretty new looking monster when it comes to the series. You mostly fought variations of dragons, wyverns, wyrms, and giant apes in the older entries. Not that it ever got bland for me, since every monster is quite different and works differently
    Im glad theres even more variation now. I love variety

Then you got all the raptor like monsters, jaggi, baggi, velocidrome etc. which aren't that far off. So I'd have to disagree, when i saw the ajanath i thought the whole dinosaur thing is very played out in MH. still cool though

    My favorite part has been egg delivery quests. It turns the image of a badass hunter that you've built up in your head and flips it upside down. Suddenly your hunter is running away from a horde of herbivores clutching a boulder sized egg. It really was a wacky but fun tone shift from the usual find monster beat the shit out of it then kill or capture quests.

    Combat is not clunky, it's realistic. You feel the weight of a weapon with every swing. So strategizing your attacks really makes a difference. Also being prepared makes a world of difference between a 40 minute hunt to a 10 minute hunt. Playing with friends makes the monster harder but it's more fun.

    • @Walamonga1313
      @Walamonga1313 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Exactly. Heavy weapons are HEAVY so they are slow but they do a ton of damage and usually let you defend (or have hyper armour), while lighter weapons don't do as much damage but they are way faster and mobile.
      I like how "weighty" the game feels, it makes it more realistic and balanced than just swing a huge ass anime sword like it's nothing.

    The term grind is usually seen as a chore. "Grinding" in this is not a chore. This game is so much more then that. The gameplay is rewarding and fun. The goal Isn't just to get better gear, It's also to learn and strategize. There is no visible exp bar, but the more you play the more IRL experience you get. That feeling is something no other game can capture the same way. If you're scared that you might have to think to play this, then look somewhere else. The monster hunter series is amazing, and this is the best yet.

    As a fan since 3-Ult, I like World. It has a lot of "Quality of Life" improvements, and I understand that; porting, improving graphics, removing segments from areas, adding Turf Wars, mantles, pets, all the countless stuff in World that greatly adds on from the previous installments... but once you get to the endgame and past HR 49 (wish anyone new good luck), there isn't all that much to do except wait for the next monster patch or festival event. While Investigations do offer randomized quest possibilities, and Tempered monsters offer a somewhat new challenge & grind, the Monster roster's size in World becomes very evident by the endgame.
    World's Roster: 52 Monsters so far (both large and small)
    MH3U: 73 Total
    MH4U: 98 Total
    MHGen: 107 Total
    MHGU: 129 Total
    MHFrontier Z: 179 Total
    But I won't be an ignoramus and say "Capcom can do so much more", I understand the money and hardware limitations that goes into adding new assets to a game. So as a matter of opinion, World was more or less a test to see how well it would sell worldwide, and it greatly exceeded expectations. It's a good game, don't get me wrong. As of now, however, it's a small Monster Hunter World. I'd give it an 8/10

    To all the people that are saying its repetitive, did you ever play Diablo? World of Warcraft? Both of those games were revolutionary and all-time hits. Even Final Fantasy has a bit of a grindy element.
    The game's a gear grind. If you don't like that idea, then yeah don't buy it. But don't call it a shit game because you don't like the concept; MH games execute the gear grind concept pretty well. Want more of a challenge? Play through the game with only one set of gear, or one weapon, or completely unupgraded. Or do min-max shit like people in Dark Souls were doing with the no-armor RTSR boss oneshot kills and shit. If people can still play Dark Souls since Demon's Souls and not get bored then either you're looking at the game from the wrong angle or its simply not the type of game for you.

    Been playing Monster Hunter since Dos. To see we can now play the game with graphics better than the then-amazing cutscenes from 10 years ago - this franchise has really come a long way.
    One thing about this global release is that players outside of Japan are missing out on the back story or world information from the older games. There is a Monster Hunter Wikia in Japanese that includes the smallest detail of just about everything, and from what I've seen, nothing in English is comparable to it. This is a shame, and I hope there's a translation project going on somewhere on the Internet so that everyone in the world could share the same degree of immersion.

    • @TristandeRobillard
      @TristandeRobillard 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Save us M1SAKI "Most fun in years" doesn't equal "everything else is not fun". The Witcher 3 is one of my favourite games, but it's too dark to be compared to something as zany and exuberant as Monster Hunter. It's an awesome and deeply rich game, but not what I'd call raw fun.
      The Souls series may be fun for you, but I find its design to be mean-spirited and anti-player. Not fun to me.
      Additionally, I'd like to point out that Skyrim was released in 2011, which was many years ago. The Witcher was released almost 3 years ago. Hence, "in years".
      I'm kind of dumbfounded I have to defend this point. I'm not sure what part of what I said implied that no other game has ever been fun. Just let people enjoy things, please.

      Save us M1SAKI in order to avoid getting into a semantics argument, I will boil it down to this. I haven't felt as relaxed and comfortable and happy playing a game for a long damn time. Even my favourite games have stressed me out massively at times. Playing this feels like playing Sly Cooper, or Spyro, or Crash Bandicoot 3, or Jak and Daxter again. I've played some fun games since that time, but nothing as fun as this. This game is special in a different way to many games now.

      Yeah, MH is the exact opposite of a casual game so going in blind isn't a great idea. It's a series where a review doesn't really cover what will make it enjoyable or not, it's more about the player than the game.

  • @vejymonsta3006
    @vejymonsta3006 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I wouldn't say that MH isn't a game everyone can enjoy. It's just a different style of action than people are used to, which is arguably much better and exceedingly more satisfying than most action RPGs. You can't just press the button to do the thing and expect it to get results. You have to actually be good at the game to win. If Dark Souls can find an audience in the west, then Monster Hunter really shouldn't have an issue.

  • @The.Nasty.
    @The.Nasty. 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The combat isn’t for everyone, but mostly just cause it’s takes time to get proficient at... and cause the monsters are very reactive and can actually read your movements and move or attack accordingly. Very challenging, it feels like you’re in an epic and terrifying fight and I love it 👍🏼

      the combat is deliberilate on being "long and tedious". It requires u to b methodical and choose ur timings in between attack and sheathing. I've tried with this game but I'm just about done with this game. I've also tried different weapons. Right now I've got to the barroth monster and it so boring and long. I don't know maybe I just have to keep playing

    • @Daigon95
      @Daigon95 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +FInny Mathew ur at the Barroth? Thts still a lower tier monster. Ur barely 20% of the game. U hav to keep playing to learn correct use of wep combos and monsters tells to make hunts faster. and ur still in Low Rank. 6 Star level quests is where it starts getting even harder and u hav to b even more methodical. When u get to High rank versions of the same monsters it will start testing ur skills more and make u "see how good or bad" in the game. But if u want a bigger challenge tht some ppl consider harder than Dark Souls in terms of difficulty and requiring u to know wht ur doing, will b G-rank (which will come out later as an expansion).
      I honestly find Dark Souls a bit easy and boring at times tbh. Maybe bc I started with the MH series 1st? But thts just me.

    This game was my introduction to the Monster Hunter franchise. Literally just picked it up this year. I'm addicted.
    First off, the combat is not clunky in the slightest. Anyone who believes that, is either using the wrong weapon for their play style or doesn't understand the game and expects it to be something else. Remember, half the time you're taking on these gargantuan beasts. Overcoming ridiculous odds. The game is called Monster Hunter for a reason. It's all about the hunt. First time in your first area, you'll be sent after small fry but may see some huge, imposing beasts cross your path. Your best bet will be to run and hide or you can try to engage it and fold like a deck of cards. Later on, a quest will probably send you after that beast. Study the beast, learn it's patterns and weaknesses, take your time and it will be SO satisfying when you finally lay waste to this gigantic monstrosity that terrified you during most of your time exploring this area.
    Being a cat lover, the Pallico's are an adorable extra touch for me and can really come through in a pinch sometimes.
    My only major negative is the Uber-gear they patched in for the impatient types who don't understand the game. This overpowered gear almost ruined the game for me (made material farming and smithing, a core component of the game, completely pointless), but once I learned about it I restarted, pretended this gear didn't exist and have had a far richer play experience. This is actually coming from a JRPG fan too.

    I feel like monster Hunter world is a combination of the whole series in so if you’re coming in as a new player it can be daunting because of all of the many options in crafting items, but realizing that it’s all there because players have been playing for so long that the depth has just continued to dig, allow me to realize I need to take it slowly and eventually I’ll be glad that it’s all there and I am at the point now so keep pushing if you even slightly think this is the game for you because it’s amazing once you get through that initial hurdle

    Definitely be prepared to put a lot of work in your preparation. If you think you're going to beat the top monsters with the basics (sword, shield, health potion), then you're gonna get smoked, unless ur really skilled. Getting the necessary materials and gear for each specific monster is what you need to do in order to truly succeed. Half assing will only get you so far. If you have the required patience for this game, go for it, if not then beware.
