I've been mulling over Faust's item toss for the past week, and I really, really hope eating the items creates silly/funny situations. For example eating the donut will restore health on the spot, eating a banana will heal you and then you can toss the peel, eating a bomb without throwing it will cause Faust to explode after a bit, or holding onto the weight will increase Faust's character weight. It's probably not going to be that in-depth, but I'm the type of person who wants options to be funny for no other reason than to be funny.
This would be kind of sick but I also think it would make the move functionally worse in some cases? I think items getting new properties could be cool but I doubt it happens
@@SQuirrel147 I'm the type of person who is fascinated by stuff like Neco Arc in MBACC being able to extend the recovery frames of a move with literally no upside, so anytime an option solely designed for fucking around is put into a game I applaud it
weight making you instant overhead combo machine would be so funny

Giovanna possibly getting to save higher amounts of tension by using whatever tool her wild assault provides, will be interesting to see what the case may be
7:48 Quick GG lore dump:
- Conventional technology was banned and denoted as "Black Tech." Magic replaced all of it and is as commonplace as smartphones or cars. The comm devices Gio and Goldlewis are using, for example, aren't futuristic tech as we'd understand them - they're magic.
- Sol can use Fire magic, Ky can use Lightning Magic, etc.
- Ram's just described as an artificial being of great power so her abilities aren't clearly explained.
- Anji's weapons are the Zessen, one of the 8 Sacred Treasures (pieces of a weapon Sol used to use called Outrage), that amplifies Wind magic. When he makes glowing butterflies and birds, that's also magic. Since he's Japanese, he can presumably control Ki (a rare kind of magic) as well.
- I didn't find any sources confirming whether Anji is a Water magic user, and it's rare for people to have more than 1 affinity.

Unless I missed smt, Ram never done any earthbending in the story so this is completely new.
As a goldlewis main, and someone who counted the frames, yes you can combo into whatever you want off wild assault.

As an Anji player, I am very curious about how that new move will work. The fact that we have an option after the auto guard has triggered is very interesting, but I am also wondering if it is tied to a specific spin, a new spin, or if it can be applied after auto guard on any spin option.
My theory is thats its either a parry or a dp since it goes through even though sol does a punch after the spin

something that i hope is a little rework for bedman like being able to keep error 6e after a wall break, we really need it
Something potentially impactful of the Faust new special, that I only noticed because you slowed* it down, is that he seems to lower his hitbox similar to him crawling. Could be helpful for causing your opponent to wiff in front of you, combo off of a point blank item. Might make people more warry of trying to contest Faust after item toss, allowing him to slow the pace of neutral a bit?
Overall great in depth look at the season 3 teaser! Really looking forward to the 28th (if we get it with Johnny)

I’m so ready to finally play on a new patch. They can nerf may, but keep her fun dolphin cancel stuff and I’m fine. 🙏
I think they want her to do the same thing she did in Xrd with throwing out the swords midscreen, rather than doing fullscreen zoning with it.
Looks like that earthshaker creates a 'wall' midscreen and enables her to grimy stuff on hit and block, midscreen if she plays her card rights into. I am fairly certain no character can 6P succesfully that F.S into immediate earthshaker cancel, which they showed in the trailer.
They (hopefully) balance it the same way, which is the horrible startup to do it raw. I think that move will be like 50f start when it is not cancelled from normals/rekka/using RC. I don't think she is doing it raw after F.S (which is like -10 already) and even cancelling that way takes a while.
Additionally, it looks completely burst and Blitz(?) safe also seems to provided better routes for wallbreaking and even corner carry. Faust is about being launched toward Ram, so probably need to do double sideswitching rekka combos unless you absolutely need that 50% Tension.
Calling it now we get Zappa+Old Faust this season

Honestly super excited just to go in with new stuff to play with. I know it’ll have hurdles and salt (it’s a fighting game) but nice to see new ideas coming into play
I will put all my copium into the patch notes, cause otherwise we are done for.
At this point I just want arcsys to remove spin and give me kou butterfly oki back.
What im more intrigued about is: Are there more of one special move? Or its just one per character also i've seen old gg players say deflect shield is like Slashback, i saw it in a video like a parry but without pushblock
Technically by their wording 1 character could get multiple specials or multiple versions of a special but there is no clarification as of yet
It sort of looks like Faust is getting two - one special where he eats the item, and one where he spits it out. Obviously they're tied together and you wouldn't have one without the other, but it could mean that some other characters are getting more than one special move, or at least a "two part" special move

Hopeful that season 3 will be shake things up in a good way!
With current Burst gain speed, I think it will be common to "I get breathing room with deflect shield, but now I don't have blue burst and lose the match."
With Wild Assault - opponent is at half health second round - you semi-guaranteed to win.
So yeah, I'm scared of that goldlewis charging at you from half a screen away.
I would probably be more scared of Pot. Imagine wild assault guard crush into pot buster...

I'm worried about Millia. Currently she's a good character but has some flaws. With the new deflect shield her win condition will be directly affected in a very big way. Lest hope they give her some strenghts in other aspectos to compensate for that at least.
I think most mix up characters are impacted by this. I think giving Millia more strengths beyond just oki would be a good way to compensate
I'm curious if deflect shield gets beaten by crossups since it's a 236 input. If not then yeah I think Millia's shot without any new buffs
@@culturemanoftheages I think it should but we have to wait and see. She need some buff regardless so lets hope she gets some love.
@@culturemanoftheages If you get crossed up, you'd input Wild Assault instead, right? So Millia doing a crossup could still get hit by that, especially if it has full invincibility like it looks like the white ones have. I'm assuming they've thought of this, there's no way they'd let something that dismantles Millia's offense like this into the game without at least making some changes to her to compensate.
@@NickJJU ah that's probably right on the wild assault bit. I'm not so confident that they'll make the proper changes to counterbalance her though (at least this patch) given how long it took them to buff out the glaring holes in her design that she had from launch.

Cooool I really just want them to add a bit more complexity to the game and it seems like they're heading in that direction. Can't wait for Earthbender Ram, if nothing else it looks sick!

They did not but they mentioned those in the most recent developer backyard so I assume we'll see that in patch notes eventually
I'm cautiously optimistic about the changes, except for the white wild charge, advancing invincible guard crush moves on the characters that build more burst seems broken, i get they might need it for the zoner matchups but it seems excessive in every other matchup.
My hope is balance changes shake things enough to make it interesting again. And this might be unpopular and unrealistic but i would like meterless invincible reversals gone, they are so lame, or at least give them to everyone.
Heavies build burst more often currently but there are changes to burst regen coming in the patch which I feel like will probably address this concern? But that is just a guess

Yeah, exciting times and that's exactly what the game needs. Hope it does shake up the game once released.
very good changes for the whole game, its been needing for quite a while. I'm more worried because theres was like 0 mention about better online and everyone suddenly forgot about that 😂 I guess the the trailers did they job
The mentioned improvements to network in the developer backyard before Evo so I imagine those changes will be in the patch notes eventually

They were both fairly simple characters before, strength aside. They might be nerfing them to compensate.
I wonder why give Ram a new move when she is already good.
New moves isn't just a balance thing as it's mainly just to spice up the game and make it more fun. May also got a new move and she's considered top 3 generally. Ideally new moves come with proper balance changes as well

I also think there might be some possibility with faust eating some items and activating them without throwing (trumpet, doughnut,etc.) So they can buff him in that way

I'm both excited and pretty nervous about the changes as an I-No main. Her offense is already extremely intractable, and Deflect Shield definitely looks like it's going to exaggerate that even further. I'm hoping for some solid changes to help compensate, but people being able to both backdash out of her pressure and now also Deflect Shield > whiff punish is pretty scary given that I-No already explodes if the opponent so much as looks at her wrong.
We'll see, though! At the very least new toys for the cast to play with is always good, and I'm looking forward to being able to give Johnny a shot.
I main Faust and I'm a little worried about what deflect shield will do to his afro pressure. Hopefully they've thought about this and the more mixup heavy characters are getting some other buffs to compensate. Or maybe it's something you can bait and punish.
