This shows why first takes - and esp. w/ Jeff -- are the keepers -- warts and all. They just got that Sizzle, y'know? Don't get no better. And in this World Of Trouble, I need the balm of music like this. Blessings
When I hear Her I wonder like what is going on Katy Perry Lady Blah Blah Why isn't this woman an International superstar She is head and shoulders above most of the female acts in the I just don't get
IMELDA is just too REAL and DIVERSE -- too complicated for simpletons to grasp; they just want to hear the SAME song over and over and over. Gawd, I just love everything about her
not only you.... so many people doubting this way... She is The Real Deal ! .... the greatest female singer of our time .... really . Most PRECIOUS singer !!!
Thank you for this. I got on TH-cam specifically looking for this performance. I was at the show and recorded a brief clip, but my camera battery died. AMAZING voice and rendition. Goosbumps here too!! Imelda May rocks!!
strange someone saying this is the only version of the song that did not bring tears to his eyes. it's the only version that brought tears to mine. btw i've always been in awe of this song in front.
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan Imelda May is toooooo much! Jeff Beck must love playing for/with her..... See Rock 'n' Roll Party Honoring Les Paul!
Danny Boy, now regarded as a traditional Irish tune written by Frederic Weatherly a native of Portishead, North Somerset, when combined with the brilliance of Jeff Beck and Imelda May it is peerless
+Bob Flames Hey I'll give you Jeff is British, but Imelda was born and raised near Dublin, :p and even when she speaks that Irish accent of hers is music to my ears...
04:36 "God dang!" Damn right!! Imelda is on her way to being one of those 'needs only one name' performers. Interesting too how Jeff does his thing at the beginning and then steps back and gives her the spotlight for the rest of the song. He clearly respects her ability.
An absolutely brilliant performance that showcases Imelda's stunning abilities. Imelda, if you or your handlers/managers read this, you must reprise this with Jeff Beck and put this for sale on a DVD or at least release a CD version.
Just fabulous ,I love how Imelda puts that little unexpected twist on very familiar much loved tunes. Here she took us all to church!! There's a Gospel truth that runs through her sinews which is always respectful and particular to her own essence and never a parody or mimicry of the iconic black soul gospel giants like Aretha Franklin. It's her humility in channeling these legends that in turn makes her purity of performance authentic and admirable with the added bonus of Irish- Soul goosebumps. Just fabulous!!!!🫶💕
Although initially written to a tune other than "Londonderry Air", the words to "Danny Boy" were penned by English lawyer and lyricist Frederic Weatherly in Bath, Somerset in 1910. After his Irish-born sister-in-law Margaret (known as Jess) in the United States sent him a copy of "Londonderry Air" in 1913 (an alternative version has her singing the air to him in 1912 with different lyrics), Weatherly modified the lyrics of "Danny Boy" to fit the rhyme and meter of "Londonderry Air". The music is a very old IRISH tune...Weatherly merely added the lyrics...
All right its official..Imelda May is the best singer in the world. Her version of Danny Boy could wring tears from a stone. Would love her to duet a quieter version of this with Hozier on his Gretch Epiphone guitar and both of their vocals....yummy.
Tyler Kent She is her marketing folks. She calls her own shots. Her first label wanted her to ditch rockabilly and just do jazz and torch songs. I say go your own way Imelda, I'll follow you.
Just for the record this an arangement made famous by the Late Jackie Wilson If you wanna cry check out Jackie Meanwhile all respects to Imelda and Jeff for a job well done
Wow, what a performance. Absolutely brilliant. Too bad U.S. entertainment honchos are too stupid to put that on television and market the hell out of it.
Imelda you do Ireland proud. Brilliant version. Thanks
love you sister
My God,,, This is incredible!!!!!!! I've never heard this song like this before!!!!!!!
This is why I like Imelda, she has her own way to interpret songs. Here she shows her stunning abilities.
She is absolutely wonderful!!!
This shows why first takes - and esp. w/ Jeff -- are the keepers -- warts and all.
They just got that Sizzle, y'know?
Don't get no better.
And in this World Of Trouble, I need the balm of music like this.

Love! Wish I’d been in the audience.
Loved every second of this from Emelda and the whole band. It took me back to a time when music would simply rock you.
A pure golden performance what a privilege to live at this point in history to witness a walking talking legend.
Her voice is vocal perfection.😍😍❤️
I am just amazed - and in love - what a voice!
So much emotion...not to mention the "great" Jeff Beck on guitar. I was privilaged to see them at the Keswick Theater. Awsome!
Saw them last night at the Keswick in Glenside PA. Had goosebumps by the end of this!

How can this song only have 746 likes????
Whoa !! Brilliant !
absolutely gets better with age,, some performer.if theres a better female vocalist in the world i havent heard of her!
I think on some songs, such as this one, Eva Cassidy was even better.
Just fabulous ,I love how Imelda puts that little unexpected twist on very familiar much loved tunes. Here she took us all to church!! Simply outstanding performance by such a talented woman
WOW Melda's throwing a little Billie Holiday in there at the end!! Awesome!
Besides playing with Jeff Beck, her picture shares the wall at her local fish&chips with Bruce Lee, Elvis and Jesus.

Wish that she would do "Red is the Rose".

All right its official..Imelda May is the best singer in the world. Her version of Danny Boy could wring tears from a stone. Would love her to duet a quieter version of this with Hozier on his Gretch Epiphone guitar and both of their vocals....yummy.
This woman is amazing. Why isn't this song on any of her CDs, or a live performance of this on a DVD? Her marketing folks must be asleep.
Tyler Kent She is her marketing folks. She calls her own shots. Her first label wanted her to ditch rockabilly and just do jazz and torch songs. I say go your own way Imelda, I'll follow you.
Darrel....happy man

The hairs on the back of your neck.............
beautiful but not like joe dolan
whats with all the wailing & waubling ,it took till 0.53 for me to realise she was murdering Danny Boy.
That's why I think Eva Cassidy sang Danny Boy better. This one is good but Eva's was about the best Danny Boy ever.
1956fan Imelda May is Irish not British !!
