In the last episode, when Clementine asked Ainz if he was mad that she killed his team members, he answered that it would be hypocritical of him since he was only using them, so him saying at the end that he was hypocritical was reflecting to that statement, meaning he was actually a bit angered by their deaths.
As you will find Ainz is pretty particular about "Comrades." Once he sees a group that reminds him of his friends his attitude changes, as you will see in the future with another group who has strong camaraderie. You could say that the family that he made with his comrades is his last remaining tie to his humanity. If he loses his guild, he may become the murderous Overlord of Death everyone in the New World expects him to be.
@@Funnywargamesman It's kinda sad since the bonus volume gives us a what-if story of Momonga appearing without Nazerick (also in a different location and 200 years earlier), and he's so much better off because of it. But now that he's experienced life with Nazerick, there's no way I can see him losing them without him then destroying everything even slightly related to the cause.
He said it would be but not because they were tools, but because he may have treated them same way if he needed to, that's why it would be hypocritical to by angry because of such treatment.
also as he was squishing Clementine, 4 tags fell from her body symbolizing the 4 clem just recently killed. Its an anime only but its pretty great
Well he was feeling bit displeased when he first found the bodies and one of them was a girl. As his feelings is "muted" as him being a undead so feeling and emotions don't come to him so much compared to when he was still human.

Ainz still has emotional undercurrent considering that he considered to use the Sword of Darkness team symbolic knife to kill Clem.
Even Nabe stabbed Khajit with one of these daggers if you pay close attention.
In this new world Clementine is actually no joke, if you paid attention, her armor/outfit was made of different ranked adventurers from bronze to I think one or 2 adamantium mixed in there. However comparing them to Ainz and his crew is like comparing a skyscraper to a box.
Yeah, like she said, she is on the level of Gazef from the beginning and he is the Headwarrior of the Captial so he is considered really really strong.
Just to let you know, in the light novel it describes when ainz hugs clementine to death that some if her internal organs come out of her mouth.

Ainz and Nabe used the black daggers with were symbols of thier friends. I think it shows Ainz liked them for real. Also the fact that he started the fight telling Clementine that it would be hipocrytical of him to be angry at her for killing them and then after the battle he sead "I am very hipocrytical".
most wholesome scene in the anime. Clem just needed a hug from all the loneliness she had. But now everything is good for her and she won't have any worries anymore~ so sweet

The ranking system is what they use to identify the strength of adventurers, the ranks go like this: copper < iron < silver < gold < platinum < mythril < orichalcum < adamantite
Little detail: Adamantite mostly consists of lvl. 30's cause that's about the maximum level most people can reach in the New World.
Also, yes, Nazarick is really dark and Ainz is almost completely amoral, regarding the residents of the New World. In any shonen they'd probably be the main villains. You should keep that in mind when you watch season 2 and 3.
To give some perspective in terms of magic, sixth tier which could be attributed to a level 50-60 player is considered the pinnacle if not above what people in this world can do barring legendary figures. So to say that a skeletal dragon is immune to spells (since it would take a spell of 7th of higher to do anything), isn't entirely incorrect for this world.
actually 6th tier is like 36-42 which we know that because lvl 70 is 10th tier and we know fluder is 36-39 because he was affected by demiurge mind control

AJ was on point again. Yes, Martial Arts, the ranking system, the world, almost everything is foreign to Ainz and his servants. The only thing in the New World that is similar to the game "Yggdrasil" is the Magic and Race System. Also the recruiting of Nfirea (the hentai-style haired pharmacist) and his grandmother is indeed very beneficial for Ainz and Nazarick. There are two main reasons for Ainz recruiting a pharmacist and potion maker, which has been not throughly explained in the anime. The first one is to increase production of potions and other assets overall. Potions and new assets simply means a new source of income (New world currency). Second is the fact that the potionmaker can create potions out of raw materials like herbs. That is unheard of for Yggdrasil players like Ainz, because in the game Yggdrasil, Potions had to be created by magic or bought in the shop. Creating potions from raw materials in the new world is therefore a beneficial matter to increase capabilities and ressources in a efficient way.
also Ainz has x amount of resources for red potions and would want Nfirea to create red potions with non-ygg items

9:46 - A lot of people miss this on their first watch (I sure did), but we've seen that Dagger before, it's not just a random weapon. That dagger was the 'Symbol' the adventurer group used to signify they were a team. Remember a couple episodes back they were talking around the campfire about their goal of finding the magic swords? Ainz wanted revenge. That's also why at the end he says that he *IS* hypocritical because in the last episode he told Clementine that he didn't care that she killed them. He did.
9:30 i actually prefer what ainz says in the dub in that part here in the dub ainz say "even if i had used the lowest tier spell i know, it would have been a waste of mp."

And thus ends Clementine, an ex-member of Black Scripture, someone with the strenght and skill to enter the realm of heroes and basically a walking one-shot macro. Literally hugged to death by a magic caster who was holding back...fortunately for her, death is a mercy for the enemies of Nazarick.

the juxtaposition between light humor and the dark nature of the story is great and best seen in the actual LN. you see scenes from both sides and it helps show just how scary the Nazarick people are.

I feel like people need to look at this from another perspectiv.
When watching Overlord or any anime with a "Villain" as the MC, don't go with the basics. After all, you shouldn't be thinking what is right or wrong, just go with the flow and enjoy.
To be honest I most likely prefer a show with a Villain as the MC, then a MC as the usual "Hero" of the story. Cause in most cases it's basically the same over and over again, with a good person as the MC.

I don't know if you noticed it in the episode.. but when Ainz were crushing Clementine in his arms, the silver plates of the people Ainz had gone on advantage with fell down on the ground. Which I think is an nice detail for anyone who are keeping track of what's going on.

The adventurer classes goes like this: Copper>Iron>Silver>Gold>Platinum>Mythil Orichalcum>Adamantite. It's just a ranking system to determine what jobs adventurers are qualified for based on strength and experience.
Clementine was right. Ainz has no clue how to sword fight and he was just relying on physical strength. If rumor got out that "Momon" isn't a real swordsman, it'd ruin the image he's building.
Just an add-on: An average human without special abilities are "Gold capped". They can only get to gold rank because of level cap. Players like Ainz don't have a cap, they can reach 100.

I've been waiting for this episode...
Humans in this new world can only cast 6th tier magic. It's the highest level of spellcasting they know. To Ainz and the rest of Nazarick however, they can cast up to 9th tier and above. These guys may as well be Gods compared to everyone on the show honestly.
Next episode: the Slime, the Vampire, and the Dull Nail Clipper.

it's too bad they cut out the jewel of death. in the light novel that orb that the bald magic caster used is a sentient weapon item and it was fangirling over Ainz and how powerful his dark magic is. Ainz appraised it and saw it only give a magic boost, really powerful for mortal but for him it only give him like .1% to his stats. so he gave it to hamsuke.
From what I understand watching the anime, a typical person can reach tier 1 magics, a powerful person can reach tier 3, legendary (humans, anyway) can reach tier 5. I’m sure there are exceptions to this and there’s always non-humans, but with skeletal dragons nullifying tier 6 magics and below, they are virtually immune to human opponents, so that caster got cocky about his apparent invulnerability. I don’t think it even occurred to that he could run into someone more powerful then him. Nabe was like, tier 7 should be enough. :)
There are four recorded magic casters, who are able to cast 6th tier magic. Also, an extremely skilled group of magic casters, including at least one 5th tier caster at the center, can cast up to 8th tier magic through a very dangerous and physically taxing high scale ritual.
In the World they are in now Tier 3 Magic is really really good and like Top Tier is like Tier 5 Magic thats like the Crazy Overpowered people, so since the Dragon has like a Magic Nullification for Tier 6 or lower, for the normal People the Dragon has like complete Magic Nullificartion since no one has Magic with a high enough Tier to get through it. Atleast as far as i know.
But well Ainz and his NPC's as you could see can use Magic higher then Tier 6.
And "Martial Arts" are like Skills based on Physical stuff in Games as far as i know, so stuff that makes you Physical Stronger, more agile or just attack moves etc.

Just passing through, can't miss a good reaction video! On a magic pierce note: magic protection by tiers is common in old-school D&D stuff (like Neverwinter Nights). Some other features were certainly from there as well - like Acid Javelin is basically Melf's Acid Arrow or the fact that Negative Energy heals undead instead of dealing damage (and yes - in D&D it works both ways - you can dmg undead by casting healing spells on them).
yes it's been stated that this series is basically a D&D campaign from the author. Goblin Slayer is also a D&D campaign with alot more references if you like D&D anime of a darker nature.
I cant wait for you to see next episodes, in my opinion they are the best in the season

I can not relate to most main characters. I am no saint. I prefer my main characters to be crueler, more selfish. I do want them to have people they care about, but I do not want my main character to always feel like saving the villagers. Sure, kill the beast that is about to eat a child as it takes no effort and you are walking past anyway. But perhaps he should not feel the need to selflessly go to some random place to save a young girl kidnapped by bandits. At least unless there is a solid reward for it.
If a family clan or guild offends him, I am not again him exterminating the enemy down to their woman and children. Even not leaving the animals alive to really drive home the idea that offending him and his people is a bad idea. If there is a pretty female who go too far in opposing and attacking the main character, I am not again him raping and torturing the woman. Especially if the matter concerns people who he cares about.
In fact, he may not feel the need to push things too far in most cases if the enemy has only attacked himself. Only threatened himself. Only offended himself. But if people step over his bottom lines, for example cause problems for his family. Or even just go too far insulting his family. Humiliate his friends or those he admires and looks up to, who he is grateful toward. For those who step over those lines he should hold absolutely no mercy.
For that matter, to me a good main character should be calculating and have a sharp mind. Be able to suppress his rage. Say someone rapes his sister, kill his friend or kidnaps his child in order to lure him out. He should be able to swallow the insult if he is too weak. Instead, forget about the fact for now, go get stronger, then make the bastards that is causing his rage pay 10 times over when he is strong enough. "When a nobleman takes revenge, ten years is not too late. One should bide one's time and wait for the right opportunity to seek vengeance."

@@xXSamir44Xx I would say it is you who need help if you find every character being a fucking saint all the time to be exiting.
No selfish desires, no 'negative' sides. Especially powerful characters. How unreasonable is if for them to always have to remain pure. Power 'corrupts' or at least it tends to bring out humans true nature.
For that matter, we humans are not good and nice creatures in the first place. If you think people having darker sides to them make them need serious help, then I am afraid you may have some delusions about humanity.
But I suppose I may just be a bit too cynical in the first place. In any case, who knows who is fully right. One should not be overly judgmental on others viewpoints. After all, often those who throw around blades of judgement end up having their head cut off by the blade of judgement themselves.
