Yes, in the light novel the crushing scene is WAY more brutal and graphic.
Poor Clementine, nobody gave her the "safe" word. The dagger Ains showed Clementine was from the Swords of Darkness, but he wants to pay Clementine back for torturing Ninya. The LN is more descriptive of Clementine's death also describing how Ains used his water pitcher to wash the blood off his robes afterward. You want an opponent to challenge Ains? Shalltear awaits.

The water pitcher was the one he used to give Aura and Mare a drink in episode one, I think it's a never ending water flow so I visualize it like Ains standing under a shower lol.

Narberal Gamma is a Doppelganger, which explains her ability to change her disguise at will. But, that's the only form she can take without overwriting it.
Her abilities are HEAVILY geared towards being a tanky mage.
Outside of Sebas, she is the strongest of the Pleiades we have seen.
No man. The whole point why Ains is trying so hard to live up to expections of hi's guardians is that they aren't npc's anymore so their loyalty isin't ensured.
The thing why Nabe sheet her weapon and fighting while it have in that state is that all skeletons are highly resisted againts pure physical slashing attacks and nearly immunite to piercing attacks but they have from 50% to up to extra 100% negative resistance againts crushing attacks which is the reason why even when Nabe´s power were weakened in that her form she manage nearly give devastated critical crushing hit with her swor to skeleton dragon, yes she nearly one-hit him but after that she little more play with her enemy when she find out that even in her weakened form she is still OP againts the necromancer with his 2 dragons ;)

Hello, my friend. Isn't this one of the best chapters? As always I will explain some things using information from the novels.
First in Nabe confrontation:
Khajiit by himself must be around level 20 or 21, but since he has that "Death Jewel", which has been feeding life energy for 6 years, he can do very impressive magic for the people of the New World.
At first he seems like he has the upper hand, but he could never win.
Ray of Negative Energy normally would splash/suck out the life force of the target it hits (like the "Negative Burst" Ainz used on the Angels in Episode 3 or 4) but not on Undead Creatures and the reverse is also true so Healing/Holy Magic would damage the Undead and Heal the Living.
Narberal Gamma is a Level 63 Battle Maid and we haven't even seen everything she's capable of until now. The thing is that Ainz forbade her to use magical attacks that exceed the Third Tier while they were traveling undercover and she played the character of "Nabe, the companion of the hero Momon". That is why at first she has to fight so hard. But we do have some clues to this, such as the fact that she can take a hit from a Dragon or hit it with sheer physical force. As a magician she should be physically weak, in fact, she would be…if it wasn't for the overwhelming difference in levels.
This is why she is extremely irritated throughout the fight and gets so offended when Khajiit suggests that she "surrender to him".
When Ainz gives her permission to use her full power, Narberal ends the battle with a single spell, Chained Dragon Lightning. This type of magic usually works by hitting one target and then jumping directly to another, like a domino effect. It is a spell of the seventh tier of magic that in the New World no human can do by himself and is considered almost divine. That is why Khajiit at first believes that Narberal is delusional.
A fun twist is that Narberal's insults towards Kajhit are a series of smaller and smaller animals: In the Novel she starts by calling him tick, then red beetle, then caterpillar, planaria (a flatworm), and finally... mere human.
Twin Maximize Magic like the name suggests doubles the Spell and Maximizes its size and damage potential. For Example the Electrosphere Spell she used at the start of the episode is a Ball of Lightning but with TMM its doubled and twice as big so it might be as strong as a 4th tier Spell
An interesting detail is that, in the Dungeons & Dragons game, skeleton-type monsters are resistant to slashing attacks, but vulnerable to blunt blows, such as those from a hammer. Overlord follows that same logic and that is why Nabe puts her sword in the scabbard before fighting the dragon, because she knows that the edge will not do her any good and she prefers to use her weapon as a baseball bat. The Mangaka said that he wrote Overlord because his D&D buddies couldnt play with him anymore because of Jobs/Families (i read that somewhere so this might be wrong).
Now Ainz's showdown:
Clementine doesn't know it, but Ainz is taking advantage of their confrontation to learn new things. One of his main doubts is whether it is possible to become stronger than he already is. Because in the Ygdrassil game level 100 was the maximum and it was not possible to progress beyond that. Ainz wants access to more sources of strength and so he is experimenting with physical techniques, watching what Clementine does and playing with her to see what kind of abilities it is possible to acquire as a Warrior.
When Ainz catches Clementine, she is not too scared at first because Liches are powerful mages, but they are not physically strong and believes that she will be able to break free with a little effort. To be fair, normally this would be true, but since Ainz is level 100, his physical strength is terrifyingly monstrous for a person from the New World. If Clementine was level 60, then the principle of not being able to overcome her physically would be fulfilled.
Unfortunately for Clementine, she is barely Level 31. In the New World she is a real power to be reckoned with, but in Nazarick there are many who exceed that level.
Clementine only realizes the difference between the two when she can't get out of his grasps on the first try and then Ainz confirms it by telling her that it wasn't even necessary to use magic to defeat her. In short, his confrontation with Clementine was not a fight but a sadistic game.
While Ainz is squeezing Clementine, plates of her armor begin to fall off. They are the plates of the adventurers of "The Swords of Darkness" that were not fully fixed because Clementine had just acquired them. It is an artistic way that the author has to tell us “¡Revenge!”.
Before the fight, Ainz said that he did not blame Clementine for killing the adventurers because perhaps he would have done the same if the situation required it. It was a way of saying, "It's not personal, it's just business." Bottom line: "I'm not killing you because you pissed me off, but because you ruined days of work I spent impressing those kids so they could advertise me."
And then he added: Blaming you for killing them would be very hypocritical of me.
But right at the end, before Clementine died, Ainz pointed out to her that she had taken her time torturing Ninya before and now he wanted to do the same. And when he finally broke her spine, he added, "I forgot to mention that I'm a big hypocrite." At that moment he is confessing that all this "was very personal" and that he had really grown attached to the adventurers, especially Ninya.
The Crown of Wisdom is an original New World item that must not be removed once worn or the wearer will go insane. That's why Ainz has to destroy it in order to save Nfirea without losing his sanity.
Then in the post-credits scene it is revealed to us that, while Ainz was doing all this, things were happening with other NPCs from Nazarick, but you will learn about that stuff in the next episodes.

Isn't Twin / Tripple Maximzie Magic just a quick succession of multiple (two or three) spells rather than increasing the power of one spell?
@istoOi it states in the wiki that it doubles the spell in size and power but that might be wrong. Also doubling the spell as is so there are 2/3 spells but they also grow in size and power
@@KarNeoLeX looks like i mixed the two. Twin/Tripple and Maximize are two separate enhancements. one casts the spell multiple times and Maximize enhances it to its full potential (rather than a damage range i assume)

Yeah, if you have played any games where you go vs skeletons, the best weapons are clubs and maces, not swords, so something that can beat and brake is beater than something that cuts

Fun and useless fact, the jewel has sentience in the light novel and is given to Hamuske by Ainz to keep. I don't even think that fact is brought up later in the books.
Hamuske occasionally complains about how noisy it is-for example, she talks to the orb and tells it to be quiet in the LN during a certain scene that takes place in season three of the anime (not saying more to avoid spoiling it) but the show doesn’t do anything with it.

Normally in games and or even in DnD blunt weapons are more effective against't undead, while cutting weapons are weaker and piercing is basically useless, she kept the sheet to beat with a blunt mace instead of a thin sword, don't remember where I saw that, but there is a fantasy world out there were knights with swords use the mordhau technique to fight against't undead creatures
Mordhau being the action of using your weapon upside down holding by the blade and hitting with the handle as a hammer
That is general DnD logic and the author of Overlord is a seasoned DM who started writing overlord when his player group stopped having the time to play DnD. So while Overlord's world isn't a copy of DnD it does takke a lot of inspiration from it.
Something to realize, non spoiler, is that when new worlders use buffs like Lesser Strength, they use the Japanese pronunciation of English words.
So they have no clue what they are saying, they don't even speak Japanese, they speak a new world language that automatically gets translated to Japanese for Nazarick.
Just mentioning it since I've seen other reactors laugh that humans act like Lesser Strength is a big deal, but they wouldn't know its a lesser buff, just that it makes them stronger and they would have no idea a spell like Greater Strength exists.
In fact, I'm not even sure Nazarick knows what they mean, or realize that they are using English words, they just know what it does and what it should mean. Similar to how we know some Japanese words and what they should mean without actually knowing Japanese like Jutsu or Shinobi.

yes the guardians have undying loyalty but they also have freewill meaning they can turn on ains and kill him thats why he has to keep acting like the overlord and is in constant strress over it
