    That was a very educational video. It has once again confirmed by belief that a Glock 9mm is one of the best theft deterrent devices available.

      Because it's in their best interest not to show someone breaking their lock they are selling. Also, for that same reason, they do not show their lock on the same one that they were testing all the other ones on.

      Thank you for your input. The coupler used for the testing of the Coupler Vault Pro was different than the previous coupler because the previous video was filmed several years ago. We no longer had that same trailer to test on. We modified the original video by shortening it as that model of Coupler Vault was no longer available.

    All well and good. But right from the start you gave your lock an easy defeat. In most cases, with your lock installed, the 2 mounting bolts for the coupler remain exposed. If your case was deep enough to cover the coupler bolts then you'd have a working lock.

    I guess you understand on the bolt on hitch, a thief shows up with a cordless impact and another hitch and doesn't waste time on the lock. Remember the Club, to lock your steering wheel, thieves just cut the wheel with bolt cutters and slipped it off. I guess the company made money.

  • @garyg985

    Why can’t a manufacturer create a box with four solid pins instead of one. Or better yet design the trailer neck with a hole that a locking pin must go through. Clearly if every lock is easy to break that means there must be a flaw someplace.

      @@duncanplumbing I agree with @LawF250. Any type of lock can be cut through with a cutting wheel, but it is extremely loud. If a person can't hear someone banging on their trailer or cutting at their locks, they should probably consider storing their trailer more securely. Mine is 10 feet from where I sleep.

    • @scottd7615
      @scottd7615 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We do our best with that too. But not much can thwart 5 minutes with a rechargeable makita grinder these days. So equipment left in a noisy or industrial area is subject to this type of theft. Most locks only take a couple whacks with a sledgehammer and the lock is toast
      .

    Your assuming there even going to bother taking the hitch lock off. It's already been proven a trailer can be stolen using the safety chains. They can simply bring there own chain and steal it and remove the lock later. Your best bet is locking the wheels.

  • @ScorpionRegent
    @ScorpionRegent 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    All the other locks were defeated on a static trailers. In the final test the trailer tongue had a wheel on the bottom decreasing the applied torque from the pry bar. One of the other locks was defeated after 8 minutes. On the Vault the camera stopped after less than a minute when only one tool was used. Theres no saying how much longer it would last and if other tools might work better. If there's more exhaustive testing I might change my mind, but for now, thumbs down, no sale.

    So why did you only use one method trying to remove the Megahitch Lock and why did you not put it on the same coupler you did your test for the other locks? I suspect the reason why is the Megahitch can be defeated as easily as the other ones in the video. This is not an apples to apples comparison and you loose all credibility because you did not use multiple tools and attache it to the same trailer coupler.
