It’s easy for me to understand even though I’m not a barber and I’m a cosmetologist, just start with with what ever the client wants and then use the biggest one they want to end with. Then use other guards for in between what you started and ended

This was extremely helpful. I was taught this method at a two day barber class after barber school and this was a good refresher. I’ve only been working in a shop for 2 days, so this gives me hope.
That’s how my instructor at barber school showed us the instead of using a trimmer to make a line and doing what a lot of the TH-cam barbers doing

I’ve seen videos about fading up and fading down and the fading down for me is better because it’s faster but the only problem for me is when you fade down is like if I were to put a #2 then go to a #1 1/2 like idk if I’m going to high, that’s the only problem for me
Gotta have reference point with the guards you use .. I typically use the partial ridge for my 2 to 1-1/2 position

I like down fading it's much easier for me, I'm 61 years old, 10 12 minutes all I need, my son's shop could run 12 hrs. A day but we never sat down

idk bro fading down seems confusing as hell, i feel like i'd get lost quick with my fades
the more you practice it .. you eyes adjust to the system and you'll notice how easy it can be ( my opinion) .. I know people fading up.. I know how to do that as well. Just realize this is what works best for me

@@ConcisetheBarber my bad, was talking about the fade down method yeah abt 10 years ago thats why i said that… its produces the smooth fades that the old people at barber school like but not what the youngins want. Youngins want precise snd aggressive ive found which i easier done fading up.
oh ok gotcha .. yea i didnt even go to school I did an apprenticeship and leanring the fade down method can truly help you advance into different techniques that the young kids want now .
