Lord, it's hate because you didn't do the knowledge. K dot is really from that. You will make people discount your opinion on other things like flat earth because on this subject you are jumping to conclusions without proper edification. Also why as a 5% are you pushing that gangbanging makes you real. Why not congratulate a young god that made it through the b.s. and for the most part, uses his platform to uplift his people.

It’s not hate to not feel someone’s music based on the fact that it’s just not sonically appealing to you. You’re idolizing a man. You shouldn’t do that. Lord Jamar ain’t feeling Kendrick’s music and it’s alright.

@djwillpowerws I didn't criticize his opinion. Everyone is entitled to having one. The criticism was for speaking in error to form his opinion and being hypocritical in his professed principles. Seems like you are worshipping the idol of LJ by jumping to defend him instead of understanding the argument that was made.

    • @djwillpowerws

@@StealfromRich …but now you just spoke in error to form a critical opinion of me, that you didn’t even form from my word against idolizing a man. “It seems like” you’re the pot calling the kettle a hypocrite. Trolling for what? His support of Trump is an entirely different subject. It has nothing to do with whether or not GNX is a good project or not. The man just said he doesn’t listen to Kendrick because he doesn’t like the sound of his voice, and then he shared his impression of Kendrick’s persona based on what he’s heard. Not doing extensive research on an artist you don’t even like is not failure to do the knowledge. You can be Black and from Compton and not be THAT (gangster), the same way you can be Black from a housing project in New York and not be THAT (criminal). Lord Jamar’s POV doesn’t make him a Kendrick hater. He already said that he wasn’t. You might not like someone. It doesn’t mean you hate them.

@@StealfromRich I do happen to agree with the part about his description of what’s real. Lord Jamar has a lot contradictions in his word lately. You’re right about that. The flat earth support is just wild. Then, he just went through so much to represent the history of Black culture in Hip Hop, and to go from that to advocate a Republican for president, when that’s the party that’s banning books about Black History and the History of racism in America, and with Trump appointing Vivek Ramaswamy who said “Affirmative Action is the cancer on the soul of America” and trolled a Black women saying she wouldn’t have gone to an Ivy League school without affirmative action………..:it’s mind blowing that Lord Jamar would be in media as he is and isn’t connecting the dots. We may agree on those things, but the k dot album isn’t hitting and it’s hard for me to listen to for similar reasons.

Jamar should be ultra glad Kendrick is keeping the lyrical tradition of rap in the spotlight but this dude semi throwing shade. Game and Dot are legends in my book. Jamar is a conscious person/rapper who like gangsta ish. That's fine but why is he harping on Dot being a possible "nerd" so much. Like someone said in these comments already. Brand Nubian could be considered nerdy. Only thing I feel is on the up and up about this crap is the voice thing. I get him on that. I also prefer rappers with deeper tones.

But in southern California they always say "Kendrick is really FROM where he's from." "He's really FROM that." It took a minute to understand what they meant. Then I listened closer to a few songs, saw some old neighborhood pictures and it all made sense...

So you said The Game showed you love early in his career. You said Kendrick showed that he grew up in that area and was apart of ‘the community activities’. You also said that you’re not that well informed on his discography. The music is the music. It stands on its own. Thats what makes Kendrick, Kendrick. He could have been on the fake tough, kill ish, negative ish. But he chose to make incredible albums and use his influence for GOOD on a entire generation.
Erything you said about The Game ‘being a student of Hip Hop’ literally can be said about Kendrick aswell. The Game makes more ‘hardcore’ music I can agree with because that’s production based. The Game is a A1 CHARACTER MC/Rapper. Kendrick is a A1 HUMAN MC/Rapper. Both are top tier. 💯💯👌🏾

Lord Jamar criticizes Kendrick for being unorthodox, different, and creative. YET, you will say that Hip-Hop these days has no originality. Make it make sense. You tear down the true modern creatives for this "gangbang" narrative that Kendrick never succumbed to. He's from the soil and embodies all train of thoughts from his section. Yes the music has "hippie" vibes if you didnt know he's apart of the Black Hippy Movement. His whole crew has a different approach to making classic music. You're out of touch Lord Jamar and this is disappointing to say the least.

Agreed Jamar, it’s not hate. The game has a better voice. That’s the foundation for a mc his voice has to be pleasing first. Rapping fast with a good flow doesn’t mean you’re nice, it’s the voice. Also when you look at the all time greats in hip hop their voice is what makes them sooo dope, Nas, PAC, Big, jadakiss, jay, snoop etc… That’s their gift, just because you can rap doesn’t mean you’re meant to rap. Some are just blessed vocally to where you feel they were destined or called to be in music.

Better voice doesn’t equate to better material. His best songs weren’t written by him. He was gifted bangers that were already done. His antics outweighs his albums more at this point in his career. Wasn’t he copying Em & 50 by dissing random artists for a reaction? One time he got called out by actual independent rappers with high grade lyricism and he duck the smoke for obvious reasons. He has weak bars
A “nice sounding voice” can only get you so far until you’re hit with the heavyweights who have a voice, sonically connected to producers, and have a heavy pen and know how to read a movement. That is the bar for a great emcee
