I found a "too shiny" pair of brass wall sconces. Used vinegar and salt and it quickly removed the shine. They look gorgeous on the front of my entertainment center.
The vaneer on the glass cabinet is called "quarter sawn oak", Tiger stripe is usually maple. Love your channel and I, too, like darker antiques. So tired of everything being painted white. I think you have a mid west style of decorating as I do, but now I'm in Florida and not many antiques on the gulf coast.
I had an old gold hand mirror similar to that, that had once belonged to my great grandmother. I used it as a teen, when I wasn’t “into” antiques or anything vintage. So, unfortunately, I got rid of it because it wasn’t new and shiny. 😢 lesson learned as I became an adult. It was most likely from the 30s or 40s. My great grandmother was born in the very late 1800’s and passed in the mid 1970’s.
Those scones would look pretty each one attached to a gold framed mirror or whatever metal the sconces are, maybe behind you night stands or on the each side a shelving unit or fireplace…love your haul….makes me want to run out and get some finds to redo…thanks for sharing…have a blessed day
Omg! I bought a curio cabinet one that looks 99% identical for 40$$ a few years back. The lady told me her great grandmother had it and it was passed down. She was certain it had to have been at least 100 Plus years old. Her mother who was an artist painted it with antique white with gold trim. It looks absolutely stunning every time I see it. Great find for sure.
Great treasures !! They make rechargeable light bulbs that don’t need electricity to work. This maybe an option for the brass lamps. Then you can use the lampshades as well.
What you need for your sconces are called cap nuts (decorative ball that screws to secure sconce to wall plate) and you can find them in lighting hardware at home improvement stores. I needed some recently.
This is an idea that popped into my head when you were showing the brass sconces. The hole in the front that has no cover. You could use brass buttons. The kind that have the hook on the back. You can either leave the hook or cut it off. I don't believe that matters. Of course if you wanted to you would be able to age them so that they would look the same as the sconce.
This was a lovely video. Hauls are not usually my favorites throughout the channels I subscribe to, but this was a fun way to do one. The history and info behind the items were fascinating. I’m not an expert on brass, but I think you may need to remove the lacquer for anything other than a rub-n-buff type of aging to work. And maybe just removing the lacquer is all you need to get the patina you want. Obviously they use the lacquer to keep it from getting the patina we all love now. 😄 The casters are quite…unique. I don’t feel like they look quite right. I feel like they have replaced the original ones at some point. It seems like most castors from that time period were metal, blended in with the wood and were a much lower profile. They almost draw all the attention instead of the beautiful claw feet! But what a great price! 🙌🏻
This a late comment.. but Amazon has kits to change a hardwire to a plug. Also, there are “ harps” that fit over the light bulb to support the lamp shade. I like the sconces..you did well!
The shield on the Mirror does look Deco , I love all Your treasures You found ... and may have turned an Emerald shade of green lol .. xx from New Zealand OMG just got to the Curio cabinet ...EEEEEE that is so gorgeous and I would have snapped that up too ...like You said worth hundreds ..and probably a more than a few here in NZ love the feet! I am with You and don't think those castors would have been on it originally , I mean who would want to move it around , especially with Treasures in ?? hahahha (and they don't look as old as the Antique piece ) The curved glass is so amazing ! PS I grew up and my mother was an Antique dealer so was surrounded by them , but as a child not that into them as I was the one who had to dust everything hahahah but I do feel that I learnt a lot by osmosis . I was into Deco and 50's when I moved out of home . Funnily enough She went Minimalist after all of us moved out ...because all 4 dusters/cleaners moved out . Now I am in Victorian and other Antique styles and have been letting go of the more modern pieces to make way for Treasures .
The glass front curio cabinet is just beautiful. And $75 what a steal! I agree with you I don’t think the casters are original. Even if the casters are old the piece looks odd with them. I think I would remove them. The book, mirror and the magnifying glass are also great scores. I love your decorating style.
That curio cabinet is such a great find! There are techniques to "fix" that missing veneer with filler and paint pens, if you want to expand your repertoire. Dashner Restorations would be a good channel for some info if you are interested in doing something like that. I wish I had thrift stores here that carried things like what you find and share with us.
you found some beauties at such good prices. i would take the casters off they dont look original. it kind of makes that gorgeous cabinet look awkward. great finds!!!
I was in Branson June 25- July 1, I only was able to go thrifting one day and I also went to the Apple Tree Mall. I definitely found things but nothing that’s really special.
Oh, we were there pretty much around the same time! I feel like I got the few little gems I could find at the one we went to, I believe it was called Treasures Marketplace. There were some beautiful pieces that were really high dollar but not as many smalls that I was interested in.
I recently saw a guy in California that bought an old leather chair at an estate sale that had interesting shapes. I think he paid either $50 or $75. He put it up for sale on estate auction that was an international auction. The chair brought over $75,000!!! You just never know unless you research things what they are worth. I love stories like that and thought you would too!!!
That cabinet is a great price!! So happy for you!! I've got several saved to watch the price. That will be really fun to play with. I'm so in the mood for early Halloween crafting! Last year didn't even have a dining room so throughly looking forward to styling 🙌
So glad to see a video from you today! Always enjoy your finds and your projects. 😊 I wondered if you have ever watched TH-cam channel “Vision in Vintage”? Her style is very Victorian, with a twist. ( more oddities) but I think you’d like it. Also, I’ve discovered a UK wallpaper company that has The BEST prices…even William Morris paper seems to be about half of what I see for other sites. They’re not cheaper than peel and stick paper, but I just can’t imagine peel and stick paper has the staying power that regular glued wallpaper does. Let me know if you’re still considering WM paper and I’ll send you the name. Sorry so long… 😊
Aaah, yes I’d love to know the source! I have also heard traditional wallpaper is much easier to apply. I am subscribed to her channel as well and enjoy her decor! ☺️
Please make sure the book is not sheeles green or Paris green. Research this and you’ll see why. It was quite common in that time period to use that pigment in the green color and if it is. It’s toxic. Those pigments contained arsenic. I’m an artist and antique collector. Just wanted to share.
@@KrystaMeeker oh thank goodness! I really liked your channel but I've had to unsubscribe to 5 channels in just the last month that I loved because they started doing Temu! I didn't want to get attached to another channel and have to leave again!
Oooh a cabinet of oddities for halloween

You found some lovely little and big treasures.
Beautiful pieces that you found. ❤
I think that was carved ivory or bone on the white handled magnifier you found. Great finds!

The gold mirror tray, was popular in the mid 60s. There were Kleenex tissue covers and hairspray covers of the same style
I can definitely see that being popular during the 60’s! Thanks for sharing!! ☺️
Yes! It brings back memories. My mom was into them, so we girls each had one (complete with brush and comb set) on our dressers.
Hairspray covers! I never knew that was a thing
Beautiful treasures! I love your taste and style.
Thank you! 🥹❤️

I’ve seen those, but hadn’t found any chandelier bulbs that were rechargeable. They’ve got to be out there right? Hah.

WOW!! Beautiful finds! That book...
I have that same tray on my vanity....I put my perfume, etc. on it
I love the tiger oak cabinet…it fits in perfectly with your beautiful decor!!🫶

That magnifying glass and curio cabinet are amazing!!!! Tiger wood is the bomb. Great finds!!!
Great pieces! Looking forward to seeing all of your treasures displayed in that beautiful cabinet.

Thank yooou! I agree, the casters just look strange! The least they could do is be functional. 😆
Great finds! My favorites are the cabinet and the book. It's never too early for Halloween for me.🎃

Love your haul hun the cabinet came with wooden wheels I have a few of them just like it in my home
Much love from Utah
Great finds!❤
Great finds.
Get a couple of antique shank style brass buttons to cover the screw holes on the brass sconces.
Such a good idea!!
HAPPY THURSDAY Crystal and family! Nice pieces. STTB*Shared To The Burgh*Pittsburgh PA

The caps for your sconces are available at ACE hardware. I just bought some for a pair of tin sconces..Rebecca M
Gorgeous book! If you can get your hands on a pretty brass picture stand, it would look absolutely amazing!

Omg I ❤️the curio cabinet 😊 I have a similar one that’s solid cherry and I paid $500 in 1996 so u got an amazing deal 😊
That type of castor is easily removed. You can pull them right out. Are the wheels plastic or wood? If wood they are definitely original.

Yes! I know exactly who and what you are referring to. So cool!
Lone Fox?
the guy is a friend of Drew from lone fox
Yes, I know it is a friend of Drew’s. I just wasn’t going to mention any names.
@@rebeccafrancis8227 oops! I’m sorry. I can delete that reply.
I seen those light scones on fb as well! And the curio cabinet!!
Sounds like we have our marketplace algorithm trained similarly! 👀
@@KrystaMeeker most definitely! ❤️
That was a great haul. I got the same brass atomizer at a flea market last week.
SW Missouri here. Been thinking about going to the 417 in Branson.
I’ve not been!! There were so many antique stores in the area. We went to Treasures Marketplace. I’ll have to look up 417!

It’s so much fun to have new spaces to decorate, I’m looking forward to that as well this year! ❤️
I’d definitely remove casters
Saw this and hit the button fast
I live in Branson. I am curious as to which antique store you went to
Beautiful finds! Always enjoy and look forward to your videos.
Thank you so much!! ❤️
Which store in Branson...going there soon!

What is the name of the brand that you can use to create more patina?❤
I’ve heard you reference the Midwest, which prompted me to ask , have you been to the WestBottoms in KCMO?
All amazing finds, cannot wait to see how you style the curio cabinet! And see your plants thrive 😂❤

What app do you use to check these out ?

Do you mind me asking what your feelings are towards Temu and if you ever plan on doing a sponsorship/haul with them, or have in the past?
I’ve had many requests from them for sponsorships and I have no plans of working with them. I prefer ethically sourced products. ❤️

I don’t believe the casters were original. I have an old china cabinet and it did not come with casters.
Take the casters off
Casters are not original
