How are you going to get around then without flying?" *I will 'swim through the air' instead of flying* "-confused frantic searching through the Webster dictionary-"
You know, there's something interesting in the Reignited trilogy. There's a "cheat" code that makes Spyro's wings tiny (look up Spyro cheat codes for the code). If you're interested in trying this challenge for yourself, on the Reignited version, that code, despite doing nothing in terms of gameplay, might be fun to have active. It works in all three games. However, the double-jump does not work in Reignited, so maybe this challenge is impossible since the double-jump is required for this challenge.
Reignited has various mechanical changes that would make a few things impossible even if the glitches remained. Most notably are the changes to the size of super flames hitbox and the fact that sparx will not collect gems if spyro is not touching the ground with the exception of being in the swimming animation.
No joke, I've completed Spyro 2 hundreds of times since childhood. *Hundreds*. I know everything about this game. My favorite game ever. Thank you for making such a great video about it!
I was separated from my dad who had the PlayStation for years so I didn’t get to complete it that many times and I didn’t even get to play much of Year of the Dragon until I reunited with my dad when I was 21 but then his PlayStation broke before I could finish it.
I would have completed it hundreds of times of it wasn't for the fact my disc for it got scratched in such a way that it always froze when trying to go into Gulp's boss fight. Which really sucked
@@NGPlusVideos Any chance you ever played Psychonauts? It usually takes me a hundred tries to get past the meat roller coaster and finish the game. I'd love to see you trounce that game.
Great job with this one! After a few attempts, I was able to complete Spyro 2 (Reignited Version) without gliding! You still must use the first whirlwind from Breeze Harbor, but everything else in the game is do-able with some tough jumps and planning. There is no double-jump in this version so it makes it very interesting to do.
I can't believe it took me halfway through Autumn Plains before I remembered Ripto. Such a shame. The double jump really does break Spyro 2 in half though.
I'm loving your style of handling these challenge runs, using glitches or skips where you have no other choice but try to really see how much of the game you can still do. Tired of some other challenge runners who are like "Can we beat this game without weapons, well yeah because with this skip we skip 75% of the game let's go!"
3:12 - "If I can do it, so can you." *press X to doubt* Huge well done again, also on the explanation of the glitches. It was easily understandable, even for a Spyro-virgin like me =D Watched with my jaw on the floor on multiple occasions to see the wicked ways you managed to get some extra shinies
Your dedication to do these ridiculous things, no matter how difficult the method may be to pull off and how many attempts it may take, is truly astonishing!
Well, if the goal is to get the final cutscene and credits, then all that's needed is getting to Dragon Shores, and getting into the theater. Speedrunners actually do this for certain categories to get all the abilities normally obtained from Moneybags, without paying him for the abilities, as it's the cutscene that triggers unlocking all the stuff that Moneybags would normally require payment for.
Please accept my standing ovation for this monumental feat of skill and patience. Honorable mentions: Magma Cone and Metropolis. Well done, and a huge thank you for another awesome Spyro video!
Spyro isn't flying during the final phase of Ripto, he just learnt to walk in the air. He is only acting like he is flying because he doesn't want people to know of his new power.
You can actually skip having to get to Dragon Shores during a no gliding run by simply restarting a file where you already got 100% and activated the powerup. The game will give you the superflame powerup from the beginning, and the code to turn it on and off still works. The NTSC version definitely has this trick, though I don't know about the PAL version.
I think you might need to do that where it's 2 100% files. Just a simple copy to another tile though. I always liked having each tile for each homeworld.
"and now we get to the third and final homeworld" still 20 kinutes of the video remaining, I wonder what that's gonna be about lol. Well done though man, love the vids
If its the same as the original, mabye? They may have fixed some of the glitches though. Didn't know spyro 2 could glitch were you could swim in mid air, thought only enter the dragonfly could do that.
You got me back into Spyro with these videos. I'm not doing any fancy challenges. Just casual first playthroughs. I was introduced to Spyro with the Reignited Trilogy, and I believe I 100%ed the first game except for the final boss. I was struggling to chase him down and gave up, never returning to it. So I technically have not beaten a Spyro game. But played a lot of the one game still. Sadly I no longer have access to that original save, so instead of playing through the entire first game again, I decided to start with Spyro 2 this time. And it looks like it has some fun mechanics. Glad to see water is no longer an obstacle like in the first game. Excited to try all the powerups and enjoy another Spyro experience.
Awesome video as always! I rememberd the Ripto Boss as the video started and really wanted their to be a way around it such a shame but to get that high on completion is impressive!
I'm happy you've released a new video and I hope you do another Spyro 3 no-fly challenge that's my favorite! Greetings from Argentina! I love your videos!
I tried this challenge myself once and I already know where this is going despair Also it is possible to get the 75 gems on the platform without TAS. If you shoot the baskets with a fireball, sometimes the gem will fall off, and you automatically collect any gems that fall off like this. If you keep trying, eventually each gem will fall off
I love how you explain how the glitches work most challenge run youtuber wont take the time to do that but i think its very interresting. Your videos are really something else cant wait for the next one.
I don't think gliding and flying are really the same thing. Utilizing flight portals would be fine as far as I'm concerned. Charging out of whirlwinds should be the same. Regardless, well done and I'm looking forward to future videos!

well i can tell you right now that the first big roadblock i found just playing casually is Cloud Spires. you can get to the portal with a charge into a jump, but past that, there's almost immediately a gap too wide to get across without gliding. i guess it's time to glitch dig! something i've never actually done for these games before. shame the double jump isn't in 3 :(
welp, my run has turned into a minimum glide run, as every skip i've managed to find for cloud spires has required gliding. i wish you luck on trying to finding a skip that works, cuz i do really wanna see that level beat! hopKid might have cracked it with some proxy jump stuff but i am Very Bad at those XD
Man, that last group of gems in Metropolis looks like it was painful to acquire. It's so cool watching people break the game open and do all this amazing stuff though!

Great video. I mean you 100% the game without gliding aside from flying levels and two levels. I would find a way to get the gems/orbs of autumn plains and Cloud temple and you could just do a glideless run outside of flying levels.
Lol, I love that your limit was "not possible for humans". I think most people would quit far before then XD Once again another phenomenal video, and I admire your patience. Not sure how you managed it sometimes XD
This was hilarious. I really hope some of the original devs manage to see this video, I think they'd really enjoy it. Maybe email a link to Insomniac? :)
Like 90% of the comments. I gotta agree that flight and gliding are very different. Specifically, gliding is not being able to fly up, and flight/flying IS being able to fly up. Just my two cents, still a sold video and was a brilliant watch.

10:41 "Trouble with the trolley, eh?"🤣
I’ve been looking forward to this
Twice the pride…wait…I mean HELL YEAH
Great video as usual!!
Ripto's Rage > Gateway to Glimmer
Great video. I mean you 100% the game without gliding aside from flying levels and two levels. I would find a way to get the gems/orbs of autumn plains and Cloud temple and you could just do a glideless run outside of flying levels.
wow i just saw the first video when i woke up this morning! im excited to watch this nd see what kind of result will turn out
I bet that "Nitrofski" guy is real handsome
If only I could meet him
Lol, I love that your limit was "not possible for humans". I think most people would quit far before then XD
Once again another phenomenal video, and I admire your patience. Not sure how you managed it sometimes XD
Seeking the raw footage for that TAS by Nitrofski was perhaps a step too far, but it was tool cool to not include. Thanks as always 😊
"Even easier than the first game."
Skelos Badlands Lava Lizards 2 minigame would like to have a word.
I see you and raise you Haunted Towers 3rd Dragon 😅
@@NGPlusVideos Ah. You right, you right.
cool videos, binging them. keep it up
This was hilarious.
