One thing, that is often overlooked especially by professionals: It really makes editing more fun! I bought the Loupedeck a few weeks ago and now every time I go on a shoot I think afterwards "I can't wait to import all these to LR and start editing". Pushing buttons and turning knobs is so much more satisfying and the fact that you're way faster even makes a large wedding folder seem like a much more manageable task.
For me the fastest way to edit in lightroom has always been to use keyboard shortcuts. You can use the < > keys to cycle through the different settings in the developer tab and use the - + keys to decrease or increase the values. its super fast, but the Loupedeck looks pretty awesome as well.
i used it but went back to mouse and shuttle xpress it has the 2 shuffle dials in the middle outside to move to next or previous image and center dial to size brush and increase or decrease sliders and 5 customizable buttons on top so your hand just fits it and stays there. The right uses the mouse which i now use a smaller mouse thats not heavy. The most important thing is my eyes do not leave the screen which is what you want when editing . I found myself looking down and up constantly using the deck and when your screen is on the wall thats a 2 foot head tilt up and down on every move looking at what button your pressing. This deck is great when you needs to spend time on one image to tweak.
Before getting a loupedeck, its worth thinking about replacing your mouse with a wacom tablet and stylus - at least, if you do any detailed retouching work. The difference in control and precision is simply incredible. For me, it quickly became a necessity - whereas the loupedeck is just a "nice to have" luxury.
I know this thread is pretty outdated, but I agree, I had a cintiq that I had been using since film school, I replaced it with the XP pro, either way a few hotkeys a rotary encoder and drawing tablet display is the way to go.
Have been using Loupedeck for 3 weeks. I work full time as an real estate/interior photographer, and i'm so glad I found this device. It has grown as a part of muscle memory for my workflow. Would not say it is perfect, but still a huge advantage for someone who spends several hours editing every day.
Hi Manny, I just wanted to say THANK YOU, MAN... I had surgery last year and one of the post effects that has stayed is shaking hands. Not a great help when you are working in Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects and Premiere Pro! I was on the fence about what to replace my Wacom tablet with as I can't use it to save my life now. I bought a Logitech MX Ergo Plus mouse and it has done wonders. ( I have not used a mouse in YEARS.) Then I saw this vid you made. SOLD. Bought the Loupdeck Plus and have not looked back. All the media I work with is now back to speed - and then some. Thanks again. More power to you, my friend.
I love using my Loupedeck console for editing photos and videos. I also like the fact that you can re-assign buttons to fit your preference. Plus, the way you can finesse and tweak your photo edits ever so slightly to get them just right. I paid $250, but it's worth it.
Do the dials turn continuously which is a rotary encoder or do they turn almost one revolution with a centre which is a potentiometer? The white, black, highlight, shadows and the bigger dial too.
Find a refurbished Canon 70D. You can find one cheap and they are still better than any of the Canon Rebels, which has always been touted as a beginner camera.
I love how much you always include your wife. Thats awesome. I am trying to do the same. Always include my wife. Your video where you guys talk about how in the beginning your wife use to be jealous and stuff. I had my girlfriend sit down and watch it with me. It helped a little lol. Thanks man for always making great videos. You are the reason after 3 years im leaving Nikon. Mi respeto Senor.
Second video I'm watching from your channel & I'm finding your videos incredible. Easy to follow and valuable for beginners. Thank you! Random complement - the way your wife gazes at you is very wholesome! #Goals. Keep up the inspiring content!
thank you for the video Manny I was just thinking on get me one of those editing pens but this keyboard is a beast hands down, I definitely will check it out
great review. i'm about to pull the trigger on this. I use premiere and photoshop quite a bit. Curious what your experience has been with those editors?
wait, it seems lagging, does it lag? I would get nuts if I had to wait ms for the software to react, I've got enough stress from waiting on my surface book 2 for lightroom to react to my surface pen :/
Ok this is the video that sold me on Loupedeck+ Gonna get a couple of these. Thank you very much Manny. Sounds like the name of a Major League Baseball player...
What is the delay from turning a knob to the change appearing on the photo? I've used MIDI based controllers in the past and the delay was just too long. I wish there was something easier than using a mouse but those sliders show the changes instantly. Thanks in advance!
I purchased the first version and I also use a mouse with a trackball. Best combo for me. The only thing that disappointed me is that they released the new version which is they could have released a software/firmware update for the first version. I purchased while it was a Kickstarter.
Thanks for sharing, this is great. I'll have to lookup what different software it'll work with. If they would add a universal "thumb control" or mini track ball to replace the mouse it'd be even more amazing! I'd but one if they did that. Seems it'd be extremly simple to add it. Wonder why they didn't?
Hey Manny i watched this video and got my loupedeck+ its amazing so far ... but its seems i can't customize the P1,P2... buttons to load my presets in Camera raw ... any idea how to do that
I've been looking into this for a minute. Do you still use a mouse for masking and adjustment brushes? I do quite a bit of skin retouching for portraits and headshots. Thanks!
This is a good product but i think big photography youtubers need to show their subscribers affordable alternatives - I have the Behringer X-Touch MIDI controller which was £50 and does the exact same thing. I understand Loupedeck is sponsoring lots of creators and I understand you have to make money but it would be good to see the alternatives too!
It's interesting that you use Lightroom Classic. I recently tried out Lightroom CC for the first time and it was absolute garbage. It's missing so many features and it seems too simplified for it's own good. I still use Classic but it's a pain in the ass when using an unsupported camera like the a73.
A7III Support was added with LR Classic 7.3 - See this page for compatibility: helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html // Cheers :::
do you know where to get clear instructions to set this thing up dude? I downloaded the software but no luck in adobe RAW or finding installation instructions...
Manny I have tell you my thoughts about you as a photographer and your channel. Your a G.O.A.T and your channel is off the charts. Point blank Lol Fo’real you are by far the pinnacle of what a youtuber should strive to be. You share your honest opinions and reviews of all the tech that you actually use. Most of all your knowledge and experience using them. If I were a millionaire I would hire you to teach and train me to be your protégé. Your mini but taller or at least the same height. But unfortunately I’m not a millionaire however I am your biggest fan and number 1 subscriber and I have a clear advantage of learning from you on your channel. Sincerely J.Cotto Thank you! Ps I just hit the amazon link and made my purchase of the loupedeck+
WOW I was almost ready to click buy on Amazon right after watching this ,,, but I read the 13 percent of the reviews are 1 star. Then I see it is over $250 with shipping. LOTS of people say more hype, R&D and little product. I was thinking $70 to $80 or was hoping anyway. It should NOT have plastic look and feel knobs and such for $250 price! I watched your review and it seems pretty nice and I would mostly use with LR & PS and mostly images for now but I wish you could have mentioned the fact it feels a little cheap especially for the price point or something to that effect. I trust your review but it's hard now to hit that buy button as much as I want too! :(
just bought one. found almost unusable as software/drivers do not work as expected. changed options to copy not all settings but developer settings and the buttons no longer work. really thinking about returning it as seems they have released new product and completely abandoned the old ones
Might be better than a mouse but won’t beat the ease of the track pad on MacBook. Everything I need is within a fingers reach and don’t have to move my arms 🤷🏾♂️. Good for workout out while you edit though. I ended up getting rid of an intouis tablet for same reason. Too much clutter to carry around
My first thought was "Oh yeah!" but then I thought, your gear is "usually" high end. After seeing the $$, maybe somewhere down the line. I wouldn't mind seeing more editing videos though! Thanks MO, forever the salesman!
It’s an interesting product. I’ve been a video editor for 20 years.. and I’m obsessed with trying control setups. The absolute best solution for me is a razer keypad such as a Tartarus2.. or orbweaver for my left hand...and a Logitech g13 keypad for my right. I then use a Wacom, with a pen input for mouse pointer control. And have a qwerty keyboard in reach for any general typing. The advantage of my setup is.. it’s very ergonomic... and you can use key combination of the left and right hand to make adjustments.. for example a key in the left hand puts the edit suite in a mode while held down.. and you make adjustments with the right hand.. change the key held down on the left controller and the function the right hand is changing is now different. The thing that slows anyone down is having to move your hand off the keypads. And the closer you can get your workflow to not need the mouse pointer the better. I’m always on the look out for new products.. but it’s hard to beat the precision of key presses... the Tartarus 2 DVDs lets you control different functions depending how far you press a key. There is a massive learning curve to my setup.. and I can see how this looks more accessible. I wonder if it actually speeds up workflow compared to a keyboard. Nick
I picked up one of those a few months ago. For event shoots it definitely sped up my workflow, once you get used to the layout edits are very quick. The control dial is obnoxious, I don’t get why they made it so much harder to press than the others (that loud click it makes is irritating) and the turn stops or whatever the resistance / clicking on turning it would be called make it less useful for rotation when the crop mode is turned on. For fine adjustments I still have to switch back to my Wacom tablet, I can get the rotation in the ballpark with the dial but it’s not precise. It would have been better to have it turn smoothly like all the other dials. The other design problem is the way they have the cable set up (or honestly that it has a cable at all, why isn’t this a Bluetooth device?!). The groove to route the cable through seems like a good idea, but it’s too tight and the cable consistently pops out, making the board wobble. IMO it’s great if you have to edit a couple hundred photos at a time, but for a casual shooter probably not worth the investment.
I was wondering what it takes for a program to support it? What makes it able to support Adobe products. I know the underlying answer money and market shares. But does it have to come from loupe deck or does Affinity Software have to write the support files? Would be interested if I could get it to support Affinity, Publisher, Photo and Designer as I already have Final Cut Pro X.
I use the loupedeck+ (had the original didn't like and returned) and a Wacom medium tablet, love the combo and have nightmares where I have to edit without them 😂
This is a nice controller, but if you already have a MIDI controller on your desk, you can do the same thing, and customize it to fit your preferred workflow. I stopped using a mouse in 2011 when apple came out with the track pad, and now I mostly use my MIDI controller for Lightroom and a drawing tablet in photoshop.
I’m genuinely curious- How many of you have injured your wrist by using a mouse?
wouldn't be better if it was wireless? so it can be used with a regular Keyboard at same time .. Great video though
Dealing with this issue right now
I've injured my wrist practicing piano, but not with the mouse.
Your wife looks at you with so much love in her eyes bro!!! #relationshipgoals
Guys if you have problems with that just get an appropriate or bigger mouse issue is solved
One thing, that is often overlooked especially by professionals:

Played around with this a while back and IT IS FREAKING AWESOME!!! From Amateur to Professional, this piece of kit SHOULD be mandatory!

youre the legit real deal. im getting this for xmas, I can t wait
One of the best reviews on these that Ive seen...
Thank you so much for sharing. I just bought /received it and can’t wait to get started!
Hi Manny, I just wanted to say THANK YOU, MAN... I had surgery last year and one of the post effects that has stayed is shaking hands. I have two, one for editing at home, and one for editing at my studio. Havent looked back since. LOVE THEM!!!
Thanks for the video...I ordered the loupedeck...it will be arriving Monday...can’t wait to try it out.
I love using my Loupedeck console for editing photos and videos. I also like the fact that you can re-assign buttons to fit your preference. Plus, the way you can finesse and tweak your photo edits ever so slightly to get them just right. I paid $250, but it's worth it.
Thanks for this video. Palette or this? Which is better?
I learned more from your video in 9 minutes than other long boring tutorials. Thank you.
Do the dials turn continuously which is a rotary encoder or do they turn almost one revolution with a centre which is a potentiometer? The white, black, highlight, shadows and the bigger dial too.
Hi! Does this board works also with RawTherapy on MAC OS?
Manny thank you so much for demo .it help me determine weather or not to purchase & use this type product
Fantastic... Manny, however, can you please suggest beginner cameras for the best sharp photos that suits low/medium budget?
Find a refurbished Canon 70D. You can find one cheap and they are still better than any of the Canon Rebels, which has always been touted as a beginner camera.
Wonderful explanation and review brother. Just wanted to ask does it work with Adobe Photoshop cc 2017 ?
Bought mine a couple of months ago. Very quick and easy to use. Worth the money ...
What happens now that Lightroom added a Texture slider?
You can custom assign the buttons on the Loupedeck.
I literally just watched the first 2 mins and was hooked. Definitely buying one. 👌
Second video I'm watching from your channel & I'm finding your videos incredible. Easy to follow and valuable for beginners. Thank you!
Random complement - the way your wife gazes at you is very wholesome! #Goals. Keep up the inspiring content!
thank you for the video Manny I was just thinking on get me one of those editing pens but this keyboard is a beast hands down, I definitely will check it out
Can you customize a key to jump into (edit in) another program such as Topaz Denoise?
great review. i'm about to pull the trigger on this. I use premiere and photoshop quite a bit. Curious what your experience has been with those editors?
I tried using one but couldn’t get the hang of it. Been using Lightroom for too long to change up the keys, I guess.
I've always wanted soundboard like controls specially for minimal tweaks this seems exciting!
Would you pair this with a Wacom tablet? I have both with a laptop. And I haven’t figured out an intuitive way to use them together
Thanks for another great post... Finally going to pull the trigger based on this review... Nice job.
wait, it seems lagging, does it lag? I would get nuts if I had to wait ms for the software to react, I've got enough stress from waiting on my surface book 2 for lightroom to react to my surface pen :/
Ok this is the video that sold me on Loupedeck+ Gonna get a couple of these. Thank you very much Manny. Sounds like the name of a Major League Baseball player...
Hello. Can you use ct and + together? Greetings

same here. So it looks like the new version is faster, the old version was a little sluggish.

Thanks for the vid Manny. Mouse is a killer, why don't you use a wacom and pen? So much more precise, easier to control and better for your hand.
Thanks!
Yes I do and I use the control dial to change the size of the brush as I use it
Is there any button work for curve in loupedeck?
Do you think you can make one to use on premier pro?
Man I love this. I guess I know what I'm buying. Got to stop watching your videos before I'm sleeping on the couch.
They can't because they were sponsored lol. But thanks for sharing! It's $79 in the US for anyone wondering
I'm in the mouse pain hand club too. Hope to try this one out soon despite some complaints of build quality.
SO after a year. Do you use it?
Definitely going to pick one up next week
does it lag at all? some say that the controls lag
Does it work with landscape photography for I like to do both portraits and cityscape
The only thing stopping me buying one is that it doesn't fully support CaptureOne yet :(
Manny out here naming his presets after Drake songs lol mad love dude. Loved the video!
Did you already own or tried the Godox V1?
Says Beta integration with Capture One? Leaving Adobe so it would be nice if I knew that it would work 100% with Capture One and Affinity Photo.
Seems like it has a steep learning curve. Haha Good tool, but from an ergonomic standpoint, is it really reducing strain on your wrist?
saw this but i really enjoy taking it easy - kinda expensive too :(
wow man thats awesome things i have seen
Hold fn when rotating the crop dial, it makes micro rotation adjustments
Seriously on the I WANT list.
Definitely going to be my next purchase
What about other important things like calibration adjustments, and curves. I think I’d still be using the mouse quite a bit
Yes you can assign custom buttons
Manny Ortiz cool!!
Full screen mode sold meee!!!
Awsome. I´ve heard that this hardware doesn´t work with adobe lightroom CC. does
it?
Does this work with Snapseed?
how the loupdeck works with camera raw?
Can you use this in conjunction with an editing tablet?
Awesome! I'll definitely order one later!
Why don't you have a Wacom tablet along side of the loupedeck?
I have one 🤘
Manny Ortiz ah! You just said you used the mouse.
I use a lot of things man. I like using a mouse but I can’t for a long period of time. I use Wacom for skin retouching in photoshop
I hope that whenever you adjust the specific slider, the panel will show what are you currently adjusting.
Full Screen Editing!? Where's my credit card!
Does this work with Photoshop RAW?
Does that loop deck fit in your wagon?
Definitely my next purchase. Broke my hand years ago and my wrist aches like crazy on occasion!
work with camera raw on mac m1?
Really helpful Manny thanks!
But, where is the texture knob ?
You can custom assign buttons easily. I use a P-Touch label maker to label the custom buttons, DeHaze, DeNoise, etc
if this was $150-$180 I would get it,but $250 is quite a bit.
The original version is $180 www.adorama.com/loupeclghtrm.html
Lol that's 1 jobs worth or less for a lpt of professionals.
KingSam this isn’t for pros
Yavor Kapitanov Why not?
You are right, Jeff. Spare a thought though for those of us that live in the UK now. It is £250! which is about $290-300. :-(
It's interesting that you use Lightroom Classic. I recently tried out Lightroom CC for the first time and it was absolute garbage. It's missing so many features and it seems too simplified for it's own good. I still use Classic but it's a pain in the ass when using an unsupported camera like the a73.
Update your Lightroom. The A73 has been supported by Classic for ages...
A7III Support was added with LR Classic 7.3 - See this page for compatibility: helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html // Cheers :::
Now I'll have to get one for my Capture one group. :)
Be careful, I own it and it doesn't work well for Capture One. Basic things works but you cannot really personalize it for now...
and davinci resolve ? work?
do you know where to get clear instructions to set this thing up dude? I downloaded the software but no luck in adobe RAW or finding installation instructions...
Why aren't you using a Wacom?

How does it work in photoshop?
It’s an interesting product. I’ve been a video editor for 20 years.. and I’m obsessed with trying control setups.
The absolute best solution for me is a razer keypad such as a Tartarus2.. or orbweaver for my left hand...and a Logitech g13 keypad for my right.

Thank you. I want better support for Capture One. It is terrible at the moment.
How do you feel about this a year later Manny?
bro i suggest you to try midi designer pro ipad apps with midi2lr installed on your computer to create custom layout for you to edit in lightroom
$50 midi controller and Midi2lr is a way cheaper alternative for DiYers
I JUST got a APC40 MkII. This sound PERFECT. Thanks!
Could a tablet with a MIDI interface that LOOKS like this work?
I use the loupedeck+ (had the original didn't like and returned) and a Wacom medium tablet, love the combo and have nightmares where I have to edit without them 😂
This is a nice controller, but if you already have a MIDI controller on your desk, you can do the same thing, and customize it to fit your preferred workflow. I stopped using a mouse in 2011 when apple came out with the track pad, and now I mostly use my MIDI controller for Lightroom and a drawing tablet in photoshop.
Great overview! I so want one of these 😊
