    Happy Landiversary indeed, and thanks for that awesome video ! Time really flies, I still remember my excitement when I saw the gorgeous images of the landing. I actually didn't know NSF at that time, I'm so glad I do now :)

      @@bryanillenberg naw these short videos use a condensed version and the full version is used for Livestreams. Plus I asked the other day on stream and they said they're still working on finishing the full version. I imagine they're waiting for the orbital test flight

    This is great. The more we learn from missions like this the planned and engineered future mission, both on Mars and other destinations around our solar system.

    while Mars and the Moon are fascinating let's really challenge ourselves and put an orbiter around the orbit of Neptune.

      i agree, if we put a probe in neptune’s orbit, it could help us try and find a ninth planet, plus, i think neptune is a very interesting place in the solar system that’s critically overlooked.

    Seems like the next one should be a rover that is as light and fast as possible to act as a mobile heliport for the exploring chopper. It could proceed to a location during the day while charging its batteries and while the helicopter is out exploring, then recharge the helicopter over night. Or something like that.

    So, what vehicle will launch the mars sample return lander? SLS, falcon heavy, or maybe even Starship?

      They're not sure yet also ESA's Ariane 6 is possible considering they are playing a huge part in the mission.

    I'd love to see the operational robots on Mars be used to help re-activate those which have failed, such as InSight. That would be impressive.

      If you're going to spend the time and money sending something to Mars I think it would be better to send new and better tech to gather more and better data.

      Also the new robots are going to different locations to study more things, they won't be going close to the old rovers since that would be pointless, the area has already been studied

    Thanks for the vid, but, the returned samples will not be the first Martian rocks touched by humans, there are about 175 meteorites originating from Mars that have been studied already.
    These will be the first pristine samples examined.

    Could we or should we try cloud seeding mars atmosphere.. it has a some cloud cover with ice clouds. Maybe this could make it rain and we can see where and how the rain water reacts with martian atmosphere and the surface

    If we’re not having the sample recovery mission till over 10 years in future. I might be dead by the time we have astronauts or people ferry over to the red planet. That makes me sad.

    Yeah, if was designed to last two years and actually DID last two years, I can see getting excited. The batteries should be crapping out very soon tho.
