Krista, first, a warm welcome to our candlemaking TH-cam family. You really brightened my day with your kind words and this comment. This is all I could ever wish for my videos to do. I am certain you have what it takes to be an excellent candlemaker and it is such an honor and privilege to have your in our community. Love and light always.
Wow, they're so beautiful. The crystals definitely add a beautiful touch. Thank you for sharing Allen. I love your energy and your videos are so calming. A million thanks Carol
Your video was so calming to watch. I never thought about sealing the tins. That's genius!!. I'm still in the testing phase, and this video was so helpful. I've had a few tins rust, and the color seeped into the wax.
Hi Jeanice! Thank you so much for your comment and kind words and a warm welcome to our candlemaking TH-cam family. It is an honor and privilege to have you! Please let me know if you have any questions or ideas for additional videos. Love and light always 🌱💛
Hi Allen I didn’t realize that my tins might rust if I use vanillin types of FO. Once again Alan you are a master teacher, you are helping me and other candlemakers so much with all your knowledge, examples and videos. 🙏🏻Namaste
I loved your video. I'm an amateur candle maker and you helped me figure out why I would get sinkholes. Not all of them but a few would. Thank you for this video and the candles are beautiful 😍
Hi Jessica!! Thank you for your comment and kind words. I am happy to add a more specific video on sink holes and various causes and solutions to my list of upcoming topics if you think this might be useful. Love and light always 🌱💛
I absolutely love your work ❤ I’m an upcoming candle maker and I’ve been watching a lot of your videos for inspiration. I’m hoping to launch my website in August or September of this year.
Hi Juliet! Thank you for your kind words. It depends on your vessel size and fragrance percentage and how high you like to fill your vessels but if you use these 8 oz tin vessels approximately where I have filled them, it would make approximately 20-21 candles. Love and light 💛🌱
This video is so well done, so thoughtful and lovely. May I ask why you don't do stones and such with wooden wicks? Is it that they radiate more heat or something?
New Subbie here. Honestly I have binge watching your videos today and l learning a lot. I hope to start a candle business soon and wanted to learn the best waxes to use. Very informative videos. Thank you for taking time to make these videos.
Hi Noir Riche! Thank you so much for your comment and a warm welcome to our TH-cam candle fam!!! Congratulations on your business!!! I am glad that these videos have been useful and please do let me know if there are any additional topics you’d like to see. Love and light always 💛🌱
Allen, I am an avid candle fanatic and I am just getting into making my own candles with the hopes of launching my own candle company one of these days. I just came across your TH-cam channel the other day and I just wanted to drop by and let you know that I am thoroughly enjoying your content. I love your fragrance reviews and your whole outlook on candles as a whole. I am super proud of your journey and support you 100% of the way. I just placed my first order on your website and look forward to trying one of your candles very soon! :)
Hi Nick!! Thank you so much for your kind comment and your order. Your Bavaria candle will ship out on Monday because we are supposed to get cooler weather next week then these next few days. When your order ships, Shopify should send you tracking info to your email :) I am so happy for you about the prospect of starting your own candle business and I hope sharing my journey can continue to be fun and useful for you on yours!!! Please let me know if you have any requests for video topics and I’ll absolutely consider them. A warm welcome to our TH-cam candlemaking family. Love and light always🌱💛
@@earthglow Sweet, thank you!!! No worries about shipping times. I would rather it get here safely than risk it with the hot weather we have been getting! Quick question: do you find fragrance oils from the likes of Stone Candles and Sixteen Seventeen are really that much more powerful/pungent/concentrated/etc. ? I am hesitant to pull the trigger with some oils from Stone but I am taking your advice about ordering the fragrance blotter strip samples first :-)
@@nickhendry803 Hi Nick! I think the short answer to your question is no, I do not consider Stone Candles or 16/17 *in general* more potent in my candle applications than the majority of the oils I’ve tried from Candlescience, Brambleberry, Nature’s Garden, Flaming Candle etc. I do not think any of the companies I just mentioned ‘cut’ their oils (i.e. dilute them) but Aztec and Candlesandsupplies are another story.. although it more than likely is just that many of their fragrances are not formulated to work well in soy. I think it really depends on the individual fragrance since the FO are made up of so many different components which often throw differently in candles. I hope this makes some sense!!!
Hi Allen. Do you add sealer to all your tins? After I watched your informative video, I checked my test tin and saw the discoloration on the sides of the tin as the wax burns down. Thanks for sharing this. I learned something new. I am rethinking the tins now. :-D
Allen, I'm new to making candles I'm very interested in trying this recipe can you tell me how to do the math to make smaller batch. Just found your video and immediately impressed
Hi Neezy! Thank you so much for your comment and kind words. The labels I use on my larger black jars with gold interior from CS are 2.83333 x 1.375 in from OnlineLabels, but I would not repurchase these again because they do not quite print right for me. I love this size aesthetically for that jar but I think the ones I will try next will be as close to this size as I can get but that do not print to the edges of the page. Hope this helps!!
Hi Julie! In my experience, only fragrances that discolor/rust the tins would really require this if it aesthetically bothers you. I have a video on this topic that I will try to link below for you. Love and light always💛✨
Hi Allen, I am new to making candles and have a few issues with 464 wax. I want to try your recipe in my 7oz jar. What would be the best % of beeswax and oil to use.
Hi there! Do you mean beeswax and fragrance oil? My recipe combines 3 different waxes together and if you watch my “how I make candles” video, I share my formula in the video.
@Earthglow thank you for your response. I will do more testing and figure out what is best. Also, thank you for putting your recipe and doing such wonderful videos to help people like me.
Hi Tina! Thank you so much for your comment and kind words. The glue I use is Permatex Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant. It is a general purpose clear adhesive sealant that, according to Permatex’s website, “seals, bonds, repairs, mends, and secures glass, metal, plastics, fabric, vinyl, weather stripping, and vinyl tops.” It works very effectively on adhering candle wicks! I have tried hot glue in the past and have found it not as effective in adhering my wicks. The wicks I use are the CD 12 and I purchase them from Candlescience or Flaming Candle. Love and light to you always 🌱💛
Hi Allen, I was wondering if you could kindly let me know what labels you use, I am having a hard time finding labels for 8oz tins that aren't "wrap around" labels. Thank you for your advice! :)
Hi there! A 32 ounce total recipe would be approximately 26oz 464 soy, 4oz 76 degree melt point coconut oil, and 2oz beeswax. I have a video on how I design my labels but not these particular ones yet. I will consider adding it to my list. Love and light and a warm welcome 💛

Vanillin is the main chemical compound that we recognize as the primary aroma and taste of vanilla. It’s basically part of vanilla extract!! When fragrance oils contain higher amounts of vanillin, they often cause tins to discolor or rust due to a chemical reaction with the tins. Let me know if that makes sense, OK? Love and light!!🌱💛

While these are cute, As a candle maker I'm really disappointed to see you making these products. There are clear candle industry guidelines about foreign objects in candles and your E&O or liability insurance will not pay a claim if one of these candles burns someone's house down due to the added material. Embedded materials must be trapped in the wax and not accessible by the melt pool when lit in order to be safe. These candles are a liability for your business. This trend lately is not safe and amateur candle makers don't know this.
