    This guy did great. I listened a lot to the last Sleep Token album and the drumming is really amazing. Even in the apparently simpler songs, the drums are colorful, full of different dynamics and have great musicality. Two is a monster, making through the summoning in less than an hour is a nearly impossible task, but he figure out it pretty well, considering the length and the odd structure of the song. Plus: looking him feeling overwhelmed made me realize that even great drummers can struggle sometimes! Really Awesome content Drumeo

    Starting a Sleep Token song and saying “we’re removing the drums so let’s see you play it” is possibly the most difficult thing a drummer could do. I’m not even a drummer, let alone musician (just a serious music listener of all genres for over three decades now), and some of ST’s songs seem like an absolute NIGHTMARE to even attempt. This dude got a listen prior to, knows the band so is aware of their ways, and STILL had a difficult time. Shows how incredible they are as a band.

    I really liked the use of the ghost notes. It seems that he was able to use them to 'reset' if the time signature abruptly changed, and it worked! Really good run!

      I was very distracted by them actually. It made me wonder if drummers that use them often are incapable of “turning that off” when playing music that doesn’t use them

      @potatocaesar1434 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@pezcore350ooh, really interesting take. From experience I'd say no, it's okay to turn it off if the song calls for a straight 2 and 4. But here, I guess a lil subjective since he didn't know the vibe of the song with the odd time changes.

    You did fucking great my man there is no way you can learn a song of that complexity within one day it takes weeks, months to develop such accuracy towards that song, and for you to play that as fast as you did just signifies that you are a great drummer my friend, good fuckin job!

    I love Plini! I started listening to them, Scale the Summit, Chon, Polyphia, Strawberry Girls, This Town Needs Guns, Anthropology and a bunch of others back in high school and I still listen to them all the time. Handmade Cities is still one of my favorite albums of all time

    Bro no way. I listened to the entire Plini discography on a long drive I had earlier this week. I had binged a bunch of Drumeo videos the week before.
    I kept thinking how cool it would be to see a jazz drummer take on a Plini song on this channel. This is not that, but an awesome coincidence that's close enough.
    I'LL TAKE IT. Chris Allison is the business and Plini's arrangements are so freking good.

    I'd need a beer (or three) after that. Mad props to Chris for tackling a difficult song and not being afraid to be vulnerable with the mistakes left in at the end. As a drummer trying to learn plenty of progressive metal songs myself, and to also write my own, I would say that the self-pressure to get it exactly right is honestly harder than than the listening or performing process itself. He did as best he could with the provisions given and no doubt showed what an unbelievable talent he has.

They are like idols to me...wanted to learn The Summoning and Ill tell you someday by Plini for a while now and its relieving to see that Chris struggles too. Id thought he would nail this instantly. It's fascinating to see so many drummers of all levels be so self-critical.
    As much as I don't like it happening to anyone else, it helps. Because when I do it, I think back on how these great drummers, eons ahead of my skill level go through it too, and use that to try to get out of my own head and just play the parts the best way I know how.
