- Fokker was a Dutch aircraft manufacturer named after its founder, Anthony Fokker. The company operated under several different names, starting out in 1912 in Schwerin, Germany, moving to the Netherlands in 1919.
During its most successful period in the 1920s and 1930s, it dominated the civil aviation market. Fokker went into bankruptcy in 1996, and its operations were sold to competitors.
Thank you for this. I had a childhood interest in Fokker after constructing a balsa and paper flying model of a DVII. Decades later it is interesting to see this !
Superbly done. Great combination of historical facts, re-enactments, old film footage, photos, colorization, gaming video, soundtrack....so much time and high quality went into the making of this. Absolutely five star from beginning to end. Whoever made this film, THANK YOU!!!

Great video. One correction. Werner Voss and Tony Fokker with FI103 is in August of 1917, not 1916. But that still doesn’t detract from the great compilation especially the colourized photos.

No mention of the Fokker DXXI? The Fokker VII was not prohibited by the Versailles Treaty but in the preliminary Armistice Treaty.
At time point 19:08, the photo is showing a Fokker D-VI taking off, not a D-VII. The wings are of a shorter span and the aircraft has a rotary engine as indicated by the rounded fuselage at the nose.

The Triplane is Fok F I 103/17 and is one of four F I prototypes of the Dr I
One F I was retained by the factory, Richthofen was given F I 102/17 and Voss was given F I 103/17 and the other F I was sent to Austria for evaluation
Unlike the Dr I the F I prototypes were painted with a blue dope, Richthofen called his F I his blue plane and Voss's F I is generally thought of as being blue with white eyes eyebrows and moustache painted on the cowling
If you look closely at some of the few photos of Voss and his F I you might notice it has a curved tail plane instead of the triangular shape of the Dr I
Voss died in his F I and Kurt Wolff died in Richthofen's F I, Richthofen's brother Lothar had lost a top wing while flying his Dr I and was lucky to survive
By 1918 the Dr I's were totally outclassed by the new allied types and contrary to popular belief Richthofen thought they were death traps and was desperate to have the Dr I replaced by the new Fokker D VII biplane that he had flown during one of the special evaluation days where the top pilots would test fly the new types

Interesting history and yet I bet who might say if one of the Fokkers is still alive I mean I saw Toyota with Akio Toyoda is the CEO and owner of Toyota and probably I would love to see what will happen if Akio Toyoda has a daughter and then she marries a Fokker but at least will be of a great tragedy, of a Boeing 737 MAX to crash in Japan and then Akio lost his son in a plane crash in Japan involving a Boeing 737 MAX and probably Akio Toyoda’s daughter who is married to a Fokker probably Tony Fokker’s great grandson as what will be about Akio Toyoda’s daughter who is married to the great grandson of Tony Fokker as she said about losing her brother in an airplane crash involving a 737 MAX in Japan she said that the Fokker name will put a curse on Boeing.
That means if Fokker has been out of business since 1996 then Toyota revives the Fokker name and orders from Qantas from Australia out pace Boeing orders, then about the Fokker curse on Boeing happens, then Toyota reviving the Fokker name could end up with Boeing being cursed on what have happened to Fokker back in 1996.
If that happens how would the world will be without Boeing and Fokker returns to the aviation industry with the help of Toyota?
This will be called Fokker returning the curse done in 1996 to Boeing, or what the people at Boeing say Fokker/Toyota curse that people at Boeing being laid off because of faulty products.

Rare known fact is that the Dutch Air force was extremely successful in engaging the Luftwaffe during the Invasion in 1940.
