Your reaction is the best! As a Japanese, I am happy. The scenery depicted in the animation film is a real cityscape. So we get a sense of what is happening in reality.

In my opinion between A Silent Voice and Your Name I would choose your name but I soon realised something. It all comes down to personal taste. A Silent Voice is more of a slice of life type of movie you know, as in it's more realistic while Your Name is more on the supernatural side. Both are great and your enjoyment depends on what you prefer more in terms of the genre and feel it gives you. Your Name kinda resonates with people but it's more about the supernatural aspects of the film. A Silent Voice is more of a story thet could very well be real and thus feels more realistic/relatable. I think this generaly proves that both movies are great but your enjoyment really comes down to what kind of person you are.
κérα Exactly! 100% agree with this statement. One of the reasons why I have more of a strong feeling towards Koe no Karachi is because well, I have a disability as well and relate upon most aspects of the film. Maybe I’ll address more of that in a future video.
@@mairuzukage Yup, I totally understand. Sometimes we find ourselves relating to characters more than others cause in a way we see ourselves reflected on them. It's interesting how that works but for me personally I like the idea of a supernatural force that bonded the two protagonists in Your Name. It gives the movie a more mysterious feeling and leaves you with many questions by the end. Of course some people will interpret the movie in different ways and will make their own theories about it. That's an aspect of Your Name I really enjoy.
A silent voice actually has more dynamics in terms of characters and story. If you just watch it, it's nothing more but a story of depression caused by scar of bullying. But if you dissect it a little, it's a story about a boy who doesnt listen, he bullied a deaf girl but he is the one who cant hear the entire time. The side characters are very crucial to the story as they represent different perspective and behavior towards bullying. Your name on the other hand is an in your face story where you get all of it once shown on the screen. Nothing to overthink, it's just fate playing its part to a love story between a boy and a girl. The great thing about it is the thrill you felt when the twist happened and you're on the edge of your sit slowly waiting on what's gonna happen while listening to its great soundtrack. That is the difference for me, and if you can see. I prefer a silent voice. 😉
For those wondering why Taki wrote "I love you" instead of his actual name... Well, logically it might not make sense, but in practice it was the best move he could make. Recall that Taki and Mitsuha forget anything related to each other, and their diary entries got deleted. Who's to say the writing won't be different? But they never forgot the FEELINGS they had for each other when they did. People theorize that Mitsuha was actually going to do the same thing, considering she wrote a horizontal stroke on his hand which would also lead to "tsuki".
I prefer this movie over A Silent Voice, even though I agree with you that A Silent Voice is a lot more relatable. They're both great but I do think this one's gonna be a tough one to beat.
Yeah that's totally fine. These are both exceptional movies with their own strengths and weaknesses, i just think A Silent Voice is my personal pick out of the two just because of the personal connection i have with it.
@@mairuzukage really depends on the persons preference i think. I choose a silent voice, and your name is not even on my top 5. But i know why a lot of people love it. But there is a reason why a lot of people are upset that a silent voice was ignored in the emmy. Coz a silent voice is a work of art.
in my opinion a silent voice has deeper meaning but your name is better executed... A silent voice would be better if they either shortened it and better paced it or lenghthened it and adapted the whole manga...
when i first watched this on opening night, i literally cried the entire way back to my apartment (a decent walk and a 30 min train ride). i bought it on both DVD and Blu-ray when they came out (it's one of the reasons i bought a Blu-ray player). it's a tradition that i watch it every year when i need a good cry, because it delivers every. single. time. your reactions are very common... as i have seen it in the faces of everyone that has watched it with me. my take on the film is that the artwork is second to none (better than garden of words IMO) and the story, while a little out there, was masterfully delivered. and having RADWIMPS doing the soundtrack was the icing on the cake (one of my favorite bands!!). I used to have a very similar commute to work that Taki-kun had to get to school, so i was like "i know that place! I go past there all the time!!" easily in my top 5 movies of all time.
I can relate to Taki better than most humans (mostly because I keep having weird dreams too.... about searching for someone. But I feel exactly like him ALL THE TIME, not just the "searching for someone" part...)

Music is by Radwimps! You can find them on spotify! They sing the English version of their songs in the dub too! I fell in love with them because of this movie. I cry every time I watch it. It's so amazing.
It’s the music... along with such a heart warming story... the music speaks so much too throughout this movie. So touching. Best anime movie, I’ve ever watched.
I just finished watching this movie (its now 1 AM exactly lol) and I needed to find some people to talk about it. Im not really an anime guy, I only watch one anime, but this movie was a wild ride.
CecDog3 Gaming It really was. Honestly I think the more anime you watch the more you become fond of it, you just need to find the shows you think will interest you :)
What made my laugh about your reaction was that during the final scene (the crossing each other and everything) I acted almost the same while I watched it for the first time... Except that I was screaming "Don't do another 5 cm per second, don't do it, DON'T-"... I think you'll like 5 cm per second! It's also a Makoto Shinkai film (creator of Kimi no na wa, and the Garden of words, that I think you also liked). You know what? I'll suggest a full marathon of Makoto Shinkai's works, including his short films if you haven't watched them yet :3 I actually prefer this over a Silent Voice, though I agree, that piece is more relatable. But I kid you not: As soon as I leaved the cinema after Kimi no na wa was over, I stayed in my car for 2 hours, basically questioning everything in my life. It was a really powerful experience, and that gave this movie more points (in my personal opinion). New subscriber!
Hey thanks so much! Comments like this i absolutely love! Yeah, for me, a Silent Voice is slightly up there but Your Name was also a fantastic film and i wish i got to experience it when it originally came out (however i probably wouldn't be able to make a vid if that was the case haha.) Garden of Words was also great. I have also seen She and Her Cat by Makoto Shinkai and 5cm per second is something that I'm most likely going to react to since i've gotten a lot of request for that one so....yay! I hope you'll enjoy the future content to come, welcome to the family :)
Masterpiece Anime and one of my favorites. Twice I watched him in the cinema and many times at home AND EVERY time I had goosebumps! It really is Great!
The Japanese language is very complex, and "すきだ" can be translated in many different ways. In this movie, it is translated as I love you, but there is a hidden nuance here that is conveyed only in Japanese. By writing "好きだ" in hiragana instead of kanji, the author expresses a special feeling that goes beyond a mere romantic relationship or lover's relationship in a slightly shy way. This is where Taki-ness is well expressed. However, this feeling is quite difficult to verbalize. If anyone is studying Japanese, I would like you to take another look at it after you have learned it. You may notice new goodness.
this movie really made me surprised and sad!! such a good movie!!!!!!good songs!! good author!!!everything is really good. damn!! kimi no nawa wrote it on my heart!!

Music is by Radwimps! You can find them on spotify! They sing the English version of their songs in the dub too! I fell in love with them because of this movie. I cry every time I watch it. It's so amazing.

Mairuzukage I had definitely the same reaction of you hahaha
Can you react kotonoha no niwa please..
9:12 - I just can't with the feelings that that outro song cause me.
It's so powerful. This movie is amazing.
Good reaction video.
Makes me cry everytime
It’s the music... along with such a heart warming story... the music speaks so much too throughout this movie. So touching. Best anime movie, I’ve ever watched.
"This is Garden of words level of animation"
It's the same guy... (Makoto Shinkai)
@@mairuzukage I used to watch a ton of anime a couple of years ago, but I just stopped, but I really loved this movie.
I'm in the exact same situation rn omg
電車のシーンのヒヨォォォォォが好きすぎる

不思議と伝わるのほんとスコ
Im just So glad so many people get to enjoy this movie too.
I'll suggest a full marathon of Makoto Shinkai's works, including his short films if you haven't watched them yet :3
I actually prefer this over a Silent Voice, though I agree, that piece is more relatable. But I kid you not: As soon as I leaved the cinema after Kimi no na wa was over, I stayed in my car for 2 hours, basically questioning everything in my life. It was a really powerful experience, and that gave this movie more points (in my personal opinion).

5 cm per seconds will tell you the true ending on the manga, trust me, it's more pain and complicated because Tohno-kun got a girlfriend there
I was the same. I was like, don't you dare pull another 5cm per second!
And I was tryna find who tf cutting onions in my room
Is da Seki vibes I was too :’(
Yep, I definitely had the exact same feeling when I first saw this masterpiece...and still do.
That twilight scene on mountain and when he again forgot her name that time it made my eyes filled with water

I have to cry everytime I see that ending scene... It's such an amazing movie. Just watched it yesterday again... for the 20th time.
Another fantastic film by this director, "5 centimeters per second".

Watching kimi no na wa (your name) was the best 1 hour 46 minutes and 33 seconds of my life
Best Animated movie since Spirited Away

Thought everyone died again when the meteor crashed 😭
I thought so too, and I starded crying so hard, but when it turned out that they're alive, I cried with tears of joy.

So he changed the future and saved her?:oooo omg thank youu

All of us just sat there silent with tears on our eyes, after the end scene, like if it's true
Masterpiece Anime and one of my favorites. Twice I watched him in the cinema and many times at home AND EVERY time I had goosebumps! It really is Great!
Sergey Kirichenko it is!! I really enjoyed this one :)
You may notice new goodness.
oh thank you, i'm studying japanese and i was so confused about that
エンディングの入り方が神すぎるんだよなぁ
I had MASSIVE chills at the “kimi no namae wa...” part
