    Hi Katie! Do you have video on how to load and use film camera? I want to dabble in film a little for my weddings:)

    Hey Katie, your experience matches my own - I like Fuji 400H and Portra 800 for people. I’ve tried Portra 400 for people but it’s been meh (love it for landscapes and church interiors, though). Just discovered your channel and really like the film content so far! Wish I’d bought a Contax a few years ago but I didn’t so I’m “slumming” with a pair of Mamiyas (one MF and a newer AF).

      Hey Don! Totally agree. Portra 400 is good sometimes on people but the exposure needs to be perfect.... whereas, the other two film stocks seem to be more flexible and easier to work with. Mamiyas are still great cameras!

      Katie Nicolle haha, I’m 4 years on with my Mamiya so I’d say the love affair is growing stronger over time.

    I love this video! So interesting to learn about how to rate film, Im always so scared to shoot film because I'm used to the feedback of digital. With all this quarentine, I've been trying to shoot around my neighborhood with my F100 35mm but I havent sent it to Photovision yet! Im excited to learn more from you! Can you share where you purchase your film from? I found some place on ebay that sells it, but im curious where you purchase your film.

      Hey Stephanie!! Thanks so much for following along ☺️ I’m glad you found this helpful. Good for you for getting your practice in, that’s really the BEST way to learn. I attached the link in the description for where I purchase film - “downtown Camera” in Toronto. However if you’re in the US, I would recommend checking out “The Find Lab” or “Film Supply Club” which are both great options for buying film!

    Thank you for your very helpful videos! Such a great resource for someone like me who's just getting started with analog photography. I have one question though: Now that Fuji discontinued the 400h, do you already have a film that is going to fill that gap for you?

    Hey Katie, thank you for these very insightful content! May I ask how many rows do you usually go through for each photoshoot? and do you use any 35mm for weddings at all? Thanks!

      Julia很吃惊 hey Julia thanks so much for following along! ☺️ Every wedding / photoshoot is different depending on venues & lighting. For engagement shoots I shoot between 5-10 rolls of film. For weddings it ranges from 5-25 rolls of film. I don’t use much 35mm at weddings since I don’t love the grain as much... but I have used it and it’s still beautiful!

    I'll be taking some pictures in a church (it's not a wedding), and I'll be trying Portra 800 for the first time, but I'm afraid it won't be enough. I wish we had more options when it comes to color film stocks (higher ISO). Do you also shoot Portra 800 in church ceremonies?

    Which light meter do you recommend? Great channel

    When you have the 800 speed film processed, is it processed at 800 or 500-640? Same question for 3200 B&W film. Very interesting vid.

    now that Fuji 400 h is discontinued are you going to also start shooting portra 400 or stick with 800?

    Just found your channel and I really love your work. I am hoping to start using some film when I’m shooting weddings. I feel like this is a dumb question but when you are shooting these films overexposed are you having them developed at box speed? Thanks!

      In my opinion this is a very important question. From my knowledge, yes, she would need to be developing the film at box speed - shooting with settings at lower ISO to overexpose, then development at box speed to yield overexposed final images.

    How does portra 800 pulled 1 stop compare to portra 400 shot at box speed?

    Do you shoot Film and Digital on a wedding day or just film?

    • @KatieNicollePhotography
      @KatieNicollePhotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I shoot both digital & film. Mostly digital since it's faster and more reliable :)

    Why not velvia?

    • @revaaron
      @revaaron 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Velvia needs a lot more light at ISO 50 (discontinued) and ISO 100. That means even more light. They are beautiful, but require you to nail your exposure since the latitude of transparencies is smaller.
