That's sooo sad. As a kid I had a air new Zealand 747 toy. It was my only toy and I loved it very much. This is sad to see its no longer part of the fleet.
I flew as cabin crew on this beautiful aircraft many times. Was so sad to see the 744s eventually get phased out! I loved working the aft galley was always busy and you had to be super organized especially if we had a full load of passengers!
I remember only seeing this beauty once or twice at the stand at NZAA and now to think i'd never see it again.....It's truly a sad moment in Air New Zealand's History
Fantastic video! Great job! It is very unfortunate to see the Air New Zealand 747 go. The good thing is that it most likely still has a future ahead .I liked!
Great video as always MiJit HD, I'm going to miss this beautiful aircraft, at Least I had the honor and the privilege of flying the B747-400 (Philippine Airlines-2004,2005; Cathay Pacific 2008) I'm ready to get my hands on the upcoming Air New Zealand B747-400 from BBOX, I'll have a lot to talk about on that review why model collectors need to have this upcoming model for their collection. BTW, I remember seeing the Air New Zealand B747-400 in LAX every time I passed through that airport (2002,2003,2004,2005,&2008) It's a sad moment in history right now.
The age of the Jumbo jets are a dying breed, what's even more sad is the A380 only had been in service for 12yrs and has barely broke even where the 747 enjoyed a very long career!
Glenn Oropeza I've seen one comment where someone stated that the A380 came into the market way too soon. The airports haven't yet kept up to facilitate them and I doubt American airports ever would expand to facilitate A380s considering they are of Boeing competition. A380s would solve so many of americas traffic but politically they wouldn't want one of their own to lose to a European company that is Airbus
I was at AKL airport waiting for my EK flight. Saw this beauty making the round around the airport was something special. Sad to see my fav aircraft being decommissioned 😔
Great video, longest one I could find about this sad flight but I find it kinda annoying that you felt the need to blur out the Air NZ logo. Everyone knows what it looks like. It's not exactly a private thing.
No, not to the boneyard! Still around, most recently flying with Wamos air. Now there's a campaign to bring it back to New Zealand, which is a great idea. Hope they get the funds together to do it 👍
For many airlines the 747 has become too big and too expensive to operate. 777 offer the same capacity, consuming less fuel and need a little less cabin staff. Frankly spoken, I do not want to experience an engine failure while travelling aboard a 777 right over the middle of the Pacific Ocean in the middle of nowhere!
That's very much the sad part but completely understandable. I agree, I would rather have 4 engines on a trans-pacific or trans-atlantic flight but these days ETOPS is why the 4 holers are fading away.
Wow!!! & respectfully where have you been hiding these last few years, Air NZ has had a number of additional aircraft of various types, brands, models etc, etc added to it's fleet since the demise of the F-27/s (100 & 500 series) in the 1990/s. Are you sure you're not getting "The Queen of the Skies" (747/s) confused with the glorious Douglas DC-3 Skyliners??? Nah sorry I'm only being smart!!
yip on the scrap heaps like all other jumbo' 747. If i had the money i will buy it all other jumbo 747 and all other planes on the scraps heap save them too.
+MiJiT HD (Auckland Aviation) I also prefer Boeing. I have never said, that airbus is bad, BUT check it 2007 - 787 announced 2008 - A350 announced, 737 - New winglets. A320 Family - New winglets (BTW Old Boeings one) And it makes me laugh if someone wants to compare 767 with A330. There is bigger than 10 years old hole between them !
That's sooo sad. As a kid I had a air new Zealand 747 toy. It was my only toy and I loved it very much. This is sad to see its no longer part of the fleet.
Yes it is heartbreaking especially for many Air NZ fans. However, it's now time to move on and cherish the good memories from what in the past.
What a sad day for air new zealand
Such a beautiful plane sad to see it go :(
+SirConzor Indeed! She's a thing of beauty.
You were lucky to a plane spot
I flew as cabin crew on this beautiful aircraft many times. Was so sad to see the 744s eventually get phased out! I loved working the aft galley was always busy and you had to be super organized especially if we had a full load of passengers!
The first ever 747 I flew in was on an Air New Zealand when I was about 5. I will always picture a 747 in that livery :)
Watching this makes me wanna cry :(
J
Same 😭😭
I remember only seeing this beauty once or twice at the stand at NZAA and now to think i'd never see it again.....It's truly a sad moment in Air New Zealand's History
Fantastic video! Great job! It is very unfortunate to see the Air New Zealand 747 go. The good thing is that it most likely still has a future ahead .I liked!
Thank you, it's nice to hear you liked it and yes she will still be in service as a leasing company bought her.
I used to like the Air New Zealand 747-400's it is very sad they were retired from their fleet.
+HaaHaa HeeHee Yes, it's very sad indeed. Still very much missed.
Omg I never flew on a 747 or been overseas but reading the comments makes me want to cry 💞
Sad to see these childhood icons disappears right before our eyes.. !!
This is so sad, but I just realised this is the plane that bring our birds home is going to get
😢 Still cry to this day...
Beautiful jet. I miss the Queen of the Skies 😔

I wish I had some more footage or photos of this plane
So San Francisco to Auckland was it’s final flight and they took a lot of the painting off, now it is leaving to it’s new home.
I was at AKL airport waiting for my EK flight. Saw this beauty making the round around the airport was something special. Sad to see my fav aircraft being decommissioned 😔
Nice video. Sad to see it go!
omg i loved flying on 747 air nz and quantas
What a beauty.. good bye✈️😔🇳🇿
this is as sad as watching Pan Am's last flight ever
Last time i went on a air NZ 747-400 was coming back from fiji in 2012
So sad
Farewell queen of the skies
Why alot of airlines Retire the 747??? LIKE WHYYY
Sadly not economical anymore compared to modern widebodys
I love aviation and live in nz but I was around 3 when it was retired
I preferred the prior M’Ata’Atau livery. Why did Air New Zealand maintenance remove the Air New Zealand markings ,and the Koru on the rudder?
farewell old lady had the privelage of traveling to travel to San Francisco on you in 13'
I love the meal so sad
Why doesn't it have the Air New Zealand titles? And I noticed the logo was half not there. Why?
It's because since the plane is likely going to a scrap yard, it's a way to make sure no one knows it was owned by Air New Zealand
Guihua Gao it’s going to the boneyard. No ID.
Wait air New Zealand used to have 747's☹️
Yes, for about 33 years.
Doge Doge they looked amazing too 😢
One third of the logo is on the rudder still
Great video, longest one I could find about this sad flight but I find it kinda annoying that you felt the need to blur out the Air NZ logo. Everyone knows what it looks like. It's not exactly a private thing.
Thank you! Nothing was blurred, Air NZ removed the titles and logo days before this departure.
@@MiJiTHD oh really? Wow alright thanks for letting me know 😂 sorry I usually just get annoyed by dumb censorship
She was such a Beauty why did they have to take the queen of the sky’s retire😰😰
did they run this as a revenue flight?
were there passengers?
+bayrockwhk No, just the flight crew onboard.
So sad to see the Queen of the skies being reduced to a cargo plane
Does anyone know what happened to it afterwards
Like who it was sold to and its new registration number?
Boneyard.
No, not to the boneyard! Still around, most recently flying with Wamos air. Now there's a campaign to bring it back to New Zealand, which is a great idea. Hope they get the funds together to do it 👍
Why did they have to take away this beautiful beast? :(
I know, it's such a shame :(
Generic Cringe they are extremely expensive to operate. The 777 offer the same capacity, require less staff and higher fuel efficiency
Wow omg 😍😍😍😍😍

My dads friend used to be a pilot on this plane
Close enough I guess
she looks sad
Sad
QANTAS meanwhile is still flying the 747.
the least they could have done is given her a water salute. so sad
I didn’t even know ANZ owned a747. I thought they mainly had Fokker Friendships.

I Never had the chance to go on these beautiful metallic planes, its sad to see them go.
*_This answers the reason why I hate A380s._*
why? why? i think i was on there
I'm unsure what 'Why?' was for, but you could've only been been on it if you were flight crew. It wasn't a pax service.
yip on the scrap heaps like all other jumbo' 747. If i had the money i will buy it all other jumbo 747 and all other planes on the scraps heap save them too.
Thanks for watching my video. I would do what you would do. It's just very unfortunate that they can't stay longer.
they were the best until Airbus came along...
In my opinion Boeing aircraft are still the best, and will always be the best.
MiJiT HD Yes the Dreamliner is incredible!
+MiJiT HD (Auckland Aviation) I also prefer Boeing. I have never said, that airbus is bad, BUT check it 2007 - 787 announced 2008 - A350 announced, 737 - New winglets. A320 Family - New winglets (BTW Old Boeings one)

Where was the water cannon salute? Disgraceful.
And now their 737's are gone and have been replaced with A320's. I fucking hate Airbus, they make shit planes.
I agree but that language isn't necessary.
Who cares what make, any plane that gets me safely A to B is a good plane!
So walk.
EX ANZ ZK-NBV/ WAMOS AIR EC-MDS
Welcome to the new age. Everything comes to an end, good bye 747 good morning 350
