This is my Dad on the radios for QF7474. He flew the 747 for over 40 years with Qantas, amassing close to 30,000hrs on the aircraft. He was lucky enough to Command its final sector into the Mojave desert. Still very proud of this flight even after almost 12 months.

I stood at a fence at Eagle Farm Aerodrome, Brisbane, and saw the first Qantas Queen of the Skies parked way out in the field. She was too big and too heavy to bring closer. That image remains with me. I stood at a fence at Mascot Aerodrome, Sydney, on 22 July 2020 and watched the last one leave, and that image also will remain with me. There were hundreds of Queen "lovers" waiting with heavy hearts to bid her farewell. In the midst of the 'plague' we all did the right thing as we watched her pass us at walking pace. Many tears were shed as we waved her goodbye and watched her ultimately rise so gracefully for the last time to an Australian sky. 😢😇✈

You Australians get it. This is how you should say farewell to the queen of the skies! In the Netherlands the last KLM 747 flight was filmed by an amateur with nothing extra whatsoever. Just like a normal flight. This plane is iconic and brought so many people to their destinations safely for so many years. You showed respect and honoured this plane 🙌

On so many occasions, this was the first piece of Australia you saw when you travelled home from overseas. The iconic kangaroo and those 4 big beautiful engines under the wings always meant that you were safe. I have so many amazing memories because of these amazing aircraft. They truely are the queens of the skies. Thank you QANTAS and all the staff for what you have all given us by keeping those beautiful ladies flying for us all and thank you Boeing for making such a beautiful and iconic aircraft that has been a part of so many peoples lives around the world.

the 747 is the most iconic plane in the sky and in my opinion, the most beautiful. Over a year ago, the final 747 was delivered. Only a handful of airlines operate the 747 today and it's sad to see her go. She served us well for the past few decades and she will forever be remembered as the queen of the skies.

I remember seeing these majestic Qantas aircrafts in Singapore back in the day when I was growing up. I used to sit there for hours watching the 747s land from all over Australia before heading off to various cities to London, Paris, Frankfurt. The Qantas 747s ignited my passion for aviation. So nostalgic, and very very sad to see the end.

I'll never forget my first nav flight in a 172 transitioning over Avalon when heavy maintenance was still on shore. Passing through the circuit area I saw one of these beauties doing a circuit from about 1000-2000 feet above. Very special memory for me seeing the afternoon sun glinting off the white panels, and the iconic kangaroo on the tail. She is such a gorgeous aircraft, and while I never rode on a Qantas queen I did manage to get on an Air NZ service from AKL-SFO, and that flight was special. Truly a sad day for aviation. I remember as a kid standing on the roof of our house in Auckland when the first one did a low fly over back in the early 70's. A friend who works in WA has been told that Qantas won't be doing any international flying until at least March 2021. Pilot: Permission to buzz the tower? Tower: Permission granted. Cos that's about as close as it ever will be with a Queen Absolutely loved their departure track on Flightradar.

What an amazing and emotional video. Well done. Congratulations!!. I've never been in Australia but I remember have seen these Kangaroo Jumbos above my country's sky when I was a child and even before having heard a word about Australia. Those were times of a full Qantas Jumdo fleet. Amazing SPs flying non stop from Buenos Aires to Sidney. I started to read about Australia only after have seeing these birds on the skies. But that was maybe 40 years ago. It's sad to know that an era of aviation, with such close to epicall flights is ending. That's something I'll never forget.

And with a good old beating heart we call it's Spirit of Australia. Farewell Queen, you shall forever hold the title to this generations days ends.

I had the joy of flying on the QF 747s Sydney to Hong Kong and return twice.
Flying into Kai Tak airport was exhilarating in between those apartment blocks on either side of the 747. All thanks go to those fabulous Qantas pilots for their skill in manoeuvring the "Queen of the Skies" into landing.
Have also flown a number of times from Sydney to Auckland and return, as well as Nadi and elsewhere.
Very sad days to see the whole QF 747 fleet be decommissioned.
