I just got my kalimba in the mail a few days ago and I am a bit lost :D which is okay, that is part of the fun of a new hobby! But I lovelovelove your channel, what O have seen so far. You keep simple things simple... Not thay simple = easy, because those are not the same. But your explanations are great to follow for someone with like zero musical technical knowledge. I did play some instruments as a kid, but only on feel and hid that I never made my homework. Which can up to a certain level. And now I need to go back to the basics and actually *do* learn about chords etc. You are my teacher of choice! So. Just got my kalimba, I was bit worried that I would need start learning all sorts of weird hand configurations like for other instruments, but this is extremely accessible! Although I can imagine more funky chords might be more difficult, this is an amazing way to begin :)

Nice lesson, i bought my kalimba 1 week ago, late lazada ala parin hayyy, c major scale cover kalimba (all white keys piano) you can simply make music with your eyes closed, everyone should play kalimba!
I so agree with you! And the nice thing about the C tone is that you just need to move a few keys around and your scaling or the key will already be in a different scale 🥰
Hello! is it just me or the highest E is almost soundless? I bought a kalimba in the past and thought this note was broken. I recently bought another one and realized that the same note was like that as well. appreciate your answer.

Hello! I'm still confused. I didn't understand fully. If I want to play a song seeing piano chords or guitar, there's let's say Em d G. How would I like to which order to play or the pattern on kalimba.
Thanks! Can you make a tutorial or two about a 13 tine kalimba/sanza? That would be great. I just got one, made by a local manufacturer. Sounds very nice. But, so different from the 17 tine ones. The middle tine is A, then to the right the next one is C, to the left from A is B, and so on. I would much appreciate some indications on how to play my kalimbs. Thanks. Keep your good work up! 👌🙏

I have a question how do I play the melody and the harmonics together? Some songs require it like you would play one pattern of notes that seem to blend into the other... I'm not sure what it even is... Is it cords or something else...

Playing around on it the first day I got my kalimba yesterday. Playing two of the same notes at the same time sounds nice too. Like 2 different C notes together, etc. Fun little instrument. Learned so much from this video.

Do kalimba have sharps or flats?
Using the hammer, you can tune the keys to make the notes sharps or flats. :)

I have a question, what if it say C and Em for a song, what do I do in that case?
Type "c chord piano" or Em chord piano to see the letters needed to be played for this.:)

I saw a Kalimba 17 key...but the keys are on separate levels. How is this played?
I am Looking at a 21 key Moozica. Solid deck.
And what about the chromatic ones?
I play Bass Clarinet..key of Bb.
My tuning note is C.
Now I am all mixed up and I have played 58 years. I need quality, purness of pitch.
I have an 8 key, KATANIA..think they retired. Wonderful resonance of the tines.
Solid deck..Use a phone ring on my left middle finger to keep it stable and secure in my hands.
Do you have sound bytes of them.oh and what about the 17 key kalimba that ever other note is raised higher...

Well, for the one with raised keys, if my memory serves me right, i believe those are the sharps? Though I'm not that sure since I haven't have one yet.
So to play it you will be plucking the keys,
Though because of its layout, swiping the keys with one stroke will not be possible.
I do find it very smart that you placed a phone ring on your 8 key kalimba which is so adorable.

Well everything should be relaxed... Try to glide it from the flesh to the nail part. :)
