33.3% chance that I'm the guy who laid those welds on that OG PK Ripper looptail. There was only 3 of us guys working the Alloy line from 79 till 84, when we closed our doors at Race Inc.

I have mine still from 84 I believe. Gotta go with the landing gear! Snake belly tires? I had the comp snake bellies. They look like a snake belly but I get this is older. Uni seat FTW and I played with the z rims which were fun but the araya 7x is what I stayed with. Bullseye ftmw btw. Those cranks were garbage, I went through a few of those. We all liked the redline comp cranks better. I guess for 79 they may not have been around. Was nice to see the build.

All you need now is a giant ziploc bag and a good vacuum. Would love to see someone take a couple recreational laps at some local desert track in the southwest on this bike. That bike is a time capsule. Back when yellow and gold were interchangeable by default. A lot of time and effort went into this build. This feels like a recreation of a bike that existed at one point rather than a dreambike from the past type project. Nicely done.

in the early 80's ill never forget seeing a kid with a PK Ripper and back then it was something you rarely ever seen. I had always wanted a gt performer in the mid 80's but could never afford one. When I saw the PK Ripper it was like, damn that is my dream bike. The memories of going into West Side Schwinn back in 1984 in Colorado and seeing all the Gt Performers lined up in every fluorescent color is a memory I'll never forget. My brother and I had the cheaper bikes though pretty cool like a raced out 79 mongoose, Predator free form all white.

@@tonyengland9744 And as much as it pains me to say it- the modern, built in China SE’s are of BETTER quality than an old American made one! I know, I know, that’s heresy but it’s true. Obviously an old American made one holds more value but if you want a very well made, modern BMX bike, current made SE’s are well worth it!

How’s it going buddy! Need some help from here, Arizona. Been looking for a similar bike I got for Christmas back in 1985. My parents got it at bike shop in the Kendall area, Miami Florida. Even tho I’m really sharp at remembering small details from my childhood, I only had the bike for two years before it got stolen right in front of my house back then. So I can’t remember the brand name. Me and another kid from school had the only ones I’ve ever seen, ever. They came in pastel colors like CW and GT we’re doing at the time. I had the lavender color and Carlos had the purple tone one. If I had to describe the bike - Bike was a cross between the rear of a Dyno VFR with tubular rear foot pegs and handle bars like a CW California. The front down tube exactly like the dual oval shape tubes the Vector Unlimited of that era. The bike was not as expensive as a GT Performer but it wasn’t a Huffy either. I believe my parents paid $200 and the GT Performer was $250. Is guess $50 was a big difference in the 80s. 😂 Hopefully my description illustrates how the bike looked like. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Skyway were not making bike frames or forks in 1979. The correct fork, pre landing gear should be one that is badged SE Racing BMX Innovations. I know this because I bought a pk ripper in 78 that was in-between when the one rider left and SB decided to call it the pk rippper. My frame was sans gusset and had said forks. It was later that the pk ripper came with the gusset and landing gear foks.

No different than tracking down new old stock car or motorcycle parts from the 40s on up. They're out there. There's dealerships and stores closed up full of this stuff. Gold mines just got to find them.
