FF7 is at the top do to marketing being the first FF to enter the 3D world also has so much like a prequel a movie a remake and now a sequel!! Who knows maybe 9 is getting more attention now because people love speed running the game!!
Yeah, calling 9 wholesome and lighthearted is like saying a serial killer dressed as a clown is good entertainment for a children's birthday party. On the surface it appears to be accurate, but once you find out what it's actually about you'll be weeping your eyes out at the tragedy.
Not to forget dealing with grief, overcoming hate and dealing with the crimes of your ancestors/family (that scene at the beach after Bahamut wrecked a certain person and Vivis monologue during it). Vivi is probably the best written character Square ever pulled off (especially if you did that collecting side mission, that gave even more context to Vivis upbringing and a bit of depth to Quina on top of it).

Final Fantasy 4 is still probably my favorite game in the franchise because it was the first one I had ever played (6 is a very close second place). Crazy to think that was over 30 years ago, but the nostalgia hit when I go back to it is still worth it, and I do intend to play it again on Pixel Remaster once I've finished with 5, which I've never seemed to have been able to fully play through.
Pretty close to what my list would be other than 7, 7 is S for me (music.. city of ancients??? Sephiroth/Junon/Aerith/Tifa etc all those themes are incredible. Also loved the main story) but everything else was spot on
7 is S tier for me, first FF for me and I will always love 7, maybe even my favourite. As for ppl who didn't grow up with it though...I can see them not getting it and in a legitimate sense not liking it. It's a creepy game that messes with you especially the psychological side of the story and I love stories like that.

Another big problem with 15 was you also needed to watch the movie, the anime, a book, and the dlcs to fill in all the plot holes...and it was planned that way.

Really appreciate Finn putting some respect on X-2's name. That game is so fun and I loved how it swung between silly (who stole the chocobo???) to really dark. The combat was super fun and the remaster with the international content (the monster tournaments!!!) were so fun. Hell yea S+++++ tier game.
Amazing gameplay, it's just hard to stomach that ott girl stuff. Especially back when I was a teenager and it came hot off the heals of X which has one of the best FF stories there is
Man I remember being like 13 when X-2 came out 😁 Had a save file that was right before the infamous massage scene....I revisited that many a time as a 13yo lol...no risk of bricking the family PC with viruses there 😁 Forreal though I played it last year for the first time in 2 decades and it holds up, it's a solid game if a little goofy. Hella side quests.
FF VIII and X-2 will always be cemented as my favorites at this point and im pretty confident its just cause how much that opinion triggers people lmfao
I want to say, I avoided 13 for a couple years, but after pushing though, it was not all bad. As it went on, it started to show some value despite the really weak and confusing opening hours, and the combat systems were actually fantastic. 13-2 however was like 10-2 for me, where it wasn't what most people were expecting, but I actually enjoyed it the most out of all of the post-10 titles
The FF13 trilogy is my favorite within the FF world. I'm actually playing through the HD versions now on Xbox. Epic sound track. Have you played Lightning Returns?
It's really worth it? I started it like a year or 2 ago and just never finished it but if it's worth it I'll revisit. I always thought 13 worked better as a movie and a story than as a game but that's an unqualified opinion.

I started to remember but yeah it wasnt the followup we 'expected'
@gibbleway yeah, it was pretty unmemorable for me too. I agree with him that it's like FFIV-2, but it wasn't worth a second playthrough. I've played FF4 a couple times or so, but that game is on another level artistically. The best thing about FF9 was the ost, and it pales in comparison to FF4s imo
Final fantasy 5 is super underrated and has a great quirky story that doesn't take itself seriously. The selection of different jobs is pretty wide as well.
FFIX is the greatest hits album of the series. The game that best represents every good facet of the series. It IS dark and mature. Its very philosophical about life and death.
IV through IX are the best. VII is my favorite, love the Materia System and the story is legendary. Fell off with X though. XIV and XV got me back into it. Looking forward to XVI, despite not having PS5 yet.
I wish you had played XIV. The game is amazing, the story is honestly my favorite in the franchise, and with the insane and turbulent development it had its crazy to think it became one of the most played MMOs in the world.
Thanks for putting X in S tier. Game changed my life. I was in in 7th grade and in my eighth year of Catholic school when I played it. I totally mirrored my transition into shedding the indoctrination around that time of my life.
Bro you had me heartbroken when you cut down 7 but ABSOLUTELY redeemed yourself with your praise of A2! My favorite game of all time and it gets TONS of hate. Thanks for spreading the good word. Never thought I'd be seeing content like this out of you
The thing about FF7 is that not only do people always want to put it in S, but they wanna put it there by itself so putting other games in S and then slapping it in A instead has me laughing so hard 😂 XII & IX are my personal favorites, probably would have been frothing 15yrs ago regarding XII's placement, but anymore now I have little to no desire or expectation that media important to me is going to be highly rated. Its nice when it happens, but wanting/chasing that "validation" is exhausting.
12 is amazing. Had the lead director not left midway thru and SE management interfering and forcing Vaan to be main character- instead of Basch, it would be up there w/ all the other greats. Gambit system is amazing, shame we never got another game w/ it. Though Dragon Age Origins does scratch that itch.
As the first one I played, FF8 will always be #1 for me. I have to put FF6 as a close second, though. Few other games have pulled me into the story quite the same way.
I have this running debate with my friend about final fantasy 8. I think it's a great game and overrated but it's flawed. I think 4 6 and 7 are better.
@@JAGtheTrekkieGEMINI1701 ffx2? Im finding people who grew up with-especially whatever first FF they played (ff6 and beyond) was their favorite and I get it, ff7 was first and it was very complete and there was completely nothing like it before. Now, having grown past much of games, I see things like witcher 3 just raved about when its just another young kid's first open worlder but really it has no life, very little originality to be found, and the npcs and combat are blunt and linear as the story. On that note I played much better action adventure games long before it. Asassins creed 2, 2 years ago, much more consolidated, flowed and played great. Take Origins, big sandbox boring flow/npcs had to put it down thankfully it was free at the time. Etc Etc
FFIX gets very dark halfway through disk 2 onward. It wasn’t exactly sunshine and rainbows when the party went to Burmecia and had a little bout with Beatrix or after Bahamut attacked Alexandria.. or when Queen Brahne was willing to risk the life of her own step-daughter and her own country for world conquest and greed… or when Vivi figures out he’s a man made golem and begins to question his life… this stuff hits deep.
Its the massive tonal shift from the original that might put some people off.. especially if they do not like J-pop... Yuna is practically unrecognizable as far as her character development in that game lol
X-2 isn't great, but it's also not as bad as some people say. The dressphere system was really fun and I remember enjoying some boss battles. Plus it was great to get to see what was going on in Spira after Yuna and the party brought the Calm. It has a ton of problems with the story and characters though. I think it just barely squeaks into B tier for me.
I could not believe the title of this when I saw it😂 7 is S tier for me. 10 is an A. 6 is good not sure where to rank it. I like it but it was the hardest for me to get into. I love 8 and have no problems with it, but I understand why a lot of people do. I have had 9 for a long time and I just haven’t gotten around to completely beating it. I didn’t have access to internet for 11. 12 was ehh for me. 13 straight to F nothing more to say there. I missed out on 14. 15 was fun to play but it really let me down in a lot of other ways. 16 we’ll see. 1 and 2 on ps1 wasn’t bad. I never played 3. 4 was solid. I didn’t really play much of 5.
Don't sleep on FF14. While it's technically an MMO, the story spans over 10 years and this last expansion just wrapped up that arc and it's fantastic. It's more RPG than MMO in my opinion.
second that but this guy is pure technical aspects music is an appreciation of emotion which is why he ranked ff7 a tier and 8 in b tier, otherwise s tier and almost and still probably S tier with 8 just because how goofy 9 and beyond came to be, I stopped at 9 and thought it was a nice refreshing complete macro story of a game.
I have twins, tidus and luca. Currently have a tattoo appointment for the brotherhood sword and tidus’ name in the yevon language and Lucas name in the Al bhed language revolving around it. I do a full play through of every final fantasy in order once a year
I remember going to my cousin's house when I was six, watching him play FF4, and the opening crawl where Cecil and Kain leave Baron was the first time I felt a "this is extremely my shit" feeling. I love the series, but that game really sticks with me (and now I own/have completed 7 different versions of it.)
Honestly your tier list is more on-point than most I've seen online, but maybe that's because it pretty much aligns with mine. My earliest memories of playing games was playing the first two released in America before my parents divorced and I kind of kept playing them growing up as a way to trigger memories of a happier time, while also playing the newer entries along the way.
@perkosean I've never played Tactics 2, but The original I do enjoy equal to or more than FFVII, and that was my impression before I was influenced by magazines and the internet. FFVII is a damn good game, with music better than most OSTs, but it's got a lot of smoke blown up its ass over the years.
*feathers ruffled* FF7 was the biggest game of my childhood for sure, 356 hours clocked on going after every little side quest out there. But, I totally understand what you're saying.
Yeah, nobody’s wrong here, and I can’t believe a game that’s as story-driven as 7 could be as poorly translated as it actually was and still be considered the greatest game of all time by so many. But at the same time, in terms of how much I enjoyed playing it, I’d have it S-tier for sure.
6, 7, and Tactics are the only S tier games for me. But I respect your opinions of the games because I can tell you are passionate about them. 8 is an F though.
FF7 is my favorite but his criticisms are spot on. For anyone reading this I highly suggest playing a modded copy on PC. There are some extremely good mods that fix a significant amount of the games flaws and bring it up to the S tier level.
Lmfao dude we have the exact same rankings “People didnt like 15 cuz it was gay and stuff. Boy band silly shit. Thats why I like it” Same with X2!! I think X2 is like summer break after a very heavy spring semester
Better be careful with this one, Finn. If FFX isn't top tier, us weebs may accidentally throw an elbow or two next time you're in a circle pit. Us weebs are out there (not really).
X 9 8 are my favorite three in that order. I've never really played FF for the game play, but the stories are where these games have always shined. X is the best , it isnt close. but the part in 9 with Vivi broke my heart when it happened. I liked 8's story a lot too, but it took me FOREVER to beat when it came out, because the exact issue you mentioned. I leveled too hard and the first boss after you go across the water was too tough and i didnt have the gear so he just kept beating me. but FF 14 is the coolest concept. i wish i could follow the story better, but apparently its really good.
I agree with almost every placement on this list except 7. Definitely deserves to be in S tier. I first played it back in 2015 as senior in high school and adored everything about it from the world and characters to the story and combat. Even the graphics are somewhat charming to me in the same way 16 bit graphics/pixel art are for most gamers
Every time i watch finns videos, whether it be the mba channel or the self titled channel, i get nostalgic as hell. Reminds me of me being yound with long ass hair. Yes, i had the topknot and shaved all the way around on the sides.
Funny you put this video out as I am now starting to play final fantasy. Never played it and jumping into FFVII as my first one. I thought that was the one with the most hype.
Props for giving FFX some love. It definitely has pleeeeeeeenty of flaws, but I would argue that the feeling of playing it also gives something unique that other entries don't offer. Is that just nostalgia talking? Maybe. But it's the only one that I can quote half of the script when replaying. Memorable
The Final Fantasy community is probably the most welcoming community of opinions. These videos always have really cool discussions in the comments 1 gets points for being first but 3 was actually a pretty good game, way better than 2. It started the job system and introduced moggles an summons. There's so many iconic things that are in just about every game that started in 3, that alone makes it a very important entry.
This may be the most I've agreed with one of your tier lists. Lol. Tactics Advance was an amazing game and got me into Final Fantasy in general. I played some of the older games before, but didn't *get it* at the time. Then I got Tactics Advance for GBA one summer on a family road trip and my life has been derailed ever since. Lol. I would also say that the PSP port of Tactics fixed all the translation issues making it without a doubt the defenitive version. I bring up Final Fantasy X-2 being horribly underrated to my friends a lot. I share with them a story of how when I was 12 I was like "wtf, it's just girls? This is lame. I don't want to play a girly game." But after hitting puberty and evolving into a disgusting weeb, I was way more into it at age 15. Lmfao. I played it again years later in my 20's and really appreciate the job system and ATB battle system. I think it being a very odd direct sequel caused people to over look all the amazing advances it made. To this day I wish we'd get that job / battle system again in a game. My only real dispute is putting 9 ahead of 7. In the rock tier lists you tend to give more credit based on infulence and the influnce of 7 is immense. It has multiple spin-off games, a movie, anime OVA, remakes and so on. While it could be argued that 1 is also influncial, I feel it didn't touch people to nearly the same level 7 does. And I'm not a 9 hater, I'm really just spliting hairs. Lol.
The story of FF8 is S tier. For all the hype, spin offs, films and everything FFVII had, i feel that expanding on the FF8 world would have been far more exciting
Tactics A-2 job's are so much varied than the original and fun to explore and the score was so atmospheric and proof that new composers after Uematsu left could still knock soundtracks out of the park
Final Fantasy IX is my favorite game of the franchise and it's kind of funny that most of my opinions line up with Finns (Save X2. Then again it's been a long time since I've played it and my opinion could change) lol.
Would love more game tiers from you! Love Final Fantasy, despite not really growing up with it. I really started with 14, and then played them backwards.
I largely agree with your tier list. Almost the exact same opinions. I would personally put 5 above 6, just because I prefer the pacing of it, and the job system. But I would put every game in the same tier. I would also add that I think 12 would’ve been one of the best in the series if it paced itself better. The zodiac version of the game was so much better (limiting each character to 2 jobs), but the problem is that there’s a point halfway through the game where the story just kind of takes a back seat, and you just travel across the map…there was a huge opportunity lost to flesh out the characters and their storylines. I also think Fran should’ve been the main character. Also…if they modernized X-2….it’s probably low key the best battle system in the franchise. Moves fast, job system is fun…has opportunities for some great challenges. They just need to tweak how the dress sphere swapping works in combat. (Like maybe limit how frequently you can swap, or something)
As someone who started with 7, I would like to put in my .02. I remember ff7 fondly but I will say I do not think it was or is overhyped at all. I have played through that game no less than 5 times and have well over 6-700 hours invested in the original. I do believe it is flawed but it still is, to this day, my favorite game of all time. I just recently replayed it and am going back through remake currently. I do believe that remake was hyped for sure, but it is great in its own regard. I am excited to see where the story takes me next year. The soundtrack... Legendary. The story and character development, amazing. The writing for the characters was flawed in areas, yes, but Overall I do believe whole heartedly that it was and still is probably the most important game in the series because of how much it did for JRPG's as a whole in the western world.
Final fantasy 9 is my entire childhood. Still a game I play to this day. Just finished it for probably the millionth time before 16 released, 27 now wondering where all the years are going.
I would love more video game tier lists. Maybe a AAA titles of the last 5 years (Elden Ring, CyberPunk 2077, Tears of the kingdom, Death Stranding etc) list
I agree with everything except your placement of FFVII. I don’t care how cliche it is but I love that game and replay it quite a bit! Now, FFX-2, I wasn’t into when it came out but you’re making me want to give it another try.
Awesome thanks giving final fantasy its respect as a series and as far as I’m concerned its as important to understanding the history of gaming as a whole as say Mario or Zelda but without the star series character. Your rankings were pretty much accurate as far as my personal opinion goes. Great job and thank you for all the awesome entertainment you give to me. I always check my notifications and when you are in there it comes before anything else.
I think that's the part about this series that's so unique, people resonate with different things. Like for me 6,7,8,10 are the only ones I would put in S tier. In each one of these there was a character I really resonated with and a plot I totally enjoyed. I can't say the same for the others even though I like a lot of the other games. X2 and lightning returns I would say are tied for the worst
I agree with your first 40 seconds, those are facts. Even if I disagree with many ranks, since I would put X-2 and 15 way below, there's a reasoning as to why you think what you say, which makes it more nuanced than a lot of gaming content. Wish to see more of your gaming opinions.
Final Fantasy 7 went from overrated (everyone thinking it was the greatest thing ever) to underrated (it's overrated because of nostalgia and it's bad/not great because I'm cool and like 6)
I really didn't mind XIII and I absolutely love XIII-2. Time traveling and alternative universes are some of my favourite themes in fiction. And simultaneously I had a crush on all XIII/XIII-2 female characters and I wanted to own all of their outfits. That's why XV was bit too sausage festy for me so it's X-2 for straight women.
I can actually agree with this list..been playing ff since 95 and if I could id place ff 7 inbetween a tier and S tier...maybe A+ tier. Its amazing dont get me wrong but its overhyped because it was many peoples first final fantasy. My first one was ff 2 aka part 4 but My favorite would be ff 6. I just played ff 8 again recently and I would say B tier is basically correct but man..that card game is so addicting.
For 15, i loved it immensely but yeah it was certainly incomplete because they added on A LOT after it was released. Also, I jaw dropped when you said you didnt play Xlll. I think I played that one more than any other FF game. Close tie with XV though
many final fantasies have a version of open world randomizer mod, which turns the game from a linear experience, to an open ended exploration game, sorta like minecraft, FF4, 5 and 6 even has tournament of it, IMO its the ultimate way to experience final fantasy, and most 2D jrpgs
For a linear robotic person your technical aspects were accurate, but the emotionality missing saw games like 8 and 7 both from being a tier above themselves. I would personally look back at 8 and rank it higher now to an A if not S tier, the game wasnt 7 experience followup and that disappointed me but the jumps from 7-8-9 were mastefully done from square and to be looked back on with more amazement then from as it came.

I never thought I’d agree with Finn on anything but here we are.
Ikr, I agree with him more on this than his general video game one 😂
My favorite part, even if I disagree with some of the ranks, is that you can tell he actually played the games.
Can you? He had no idea when the job system was implemented
That's where you look and realize he is trolling having that in S tier, and I love the game 😂😂😂
Amazing gameplay, it's just hard to stomach that ott girl stuff. Especially back when I was a teenager and it came hot off the heals of X which has one of the best FF stories there is
I absolutely hated X2... love the hell out of X. FF13 trilogy is my favorite. Some of the best FF soundtracks.
Man I remember being like 13 when X-2 came out 😁
Had a save file that was right before the infamous massage scene....I revisited that many a time as a 13yo lol...no risk of bricking the family PC with viruses there 😁
Forreal though I played it last year for the first time in 2 decades and it holds up, it's a solid game if a little goofy. Hella side quests.
FF VIII and X-2 will always be cemented as my favorites at this point and im pretty confident its just cause how much that opinion triggers people lmfao
This is the kind of content I've been waiting for. You always make my day while I work and listen to you, Finn. ❤️
*_FFVII, no question. I know it’s the most popular one, but it’s the best._*
Absolutely. FF6 and FF Tactics are the only ones that can make a case against it for obvious reasons.
Finn putting some respect on FF9s name, I feel a lot of people overlooked 9
ff9 was fine, it was a good run through younger but not really worth the replay later.
@@gibbleway ff9 is worth replay value!! Best story atmosphere and best sound tracks even better then the new FF games today!! E2PG is the hardest achievement in ff9 and let's be honest do to limitation on time to get Excalibur 2 arguably the hardest FF too 100% definitely overlooked but I'm not here to shove my opinion down anyone's throats!! If you want a better input on these games go check out Pro Jared's videos!! He does more then just plays these games he also analyzes what each game has to offer as well as calling out their strengths and weaknesses!!
I played it when it came out, but it was just ok. FF7 and FF Tactics set the bar REALLY really high, and FF8-FF10 did not live up to it imo
@@heybirddawg1055 I couldnt remember much of a damned thing with 9, I feel like if you stumbled into it afdter 7, 8, maybe just 8 then 9 but if straight into 9 it might be interesting, and if younger than 14/15. IT was PG Disney with slightly its own style I had to watch some guy's 20 min quick rundown of thegame and the first 6 minutes were before start game due to backstory and when he talked about zidane helping princess run away and steiner clumsily lumping after them...
MMOs will always deserve a special place in hell in my heart, same level with those who call themselves gamers when they only play mobile games
@@desmondlau1385 ok
@@desmondlau1385 Same level with gatekeepers of gaming too, I'd wager. ;)
Thanks for putting X in S tier. Game changed my life. I was in in 7th grade and in my eighth year of Catholic school when I played it. I totally mirrored my transition into shedding the indoctrination around that time of my life.
it was a game than I grew past after the previos 3 before it, and looking back seeing it had a place in time but thats really it.
Tactics has an S tier plot and story - love the politics, betrayal, character arcs.
We need more of this, more video game stuff. Love the music and metal stuff, but this is a great variety as well
Bro you had me heartbroken when you cut down 7 but ABSOLUTELY redeemed yourself with your praise of A2! My favorite game of all time and it gets TONS of hate. Thanks for spreading the good word. Never thought I'd be seeing content like this out of you
The thing about FF7 is that not only do people always want to put it in S, but they wanna put it there by itself so putting other games in S and then slapping it in A instead has me laughing so hard 😂
XII & IX are my personal favorites, probably would have been frothing 15yrs ago regarding XII's placement, but anymore now I have little to no desire or expectation that media important to me is going to be highly rated.
FF6 blew my mind as a kid in 1994, had never played a game with that much depth.
I have this running debate with my friend about final fantasy 8. I think it's a great game and overrated but it's flawed. I think 4 6 and 7 are better.
8 is the best. Glad someone else is reasonable around here
@@nothingelse1520 you kind of missed chrono trigger, which I comparitively was amazed at, nearly 3 decades later.
@@gibbleway yay Chrono Trigger was great
FF8 and FFX are both post-post-apocalyptic settings. Very awesome and underappreciated.
I played 8 and looked back at it (less salty post-ff7) as a great original masterpiece without mistakes and just fluid.
FF8 is *FUTURE TECH* Setting and FFX is like FF7/FF6 Steampunk Future
@@JAGtheTrekkieGEMINI1701 how is ffx like ff7? It looks real life sized but removed, with fake characters and just kind of silly.
@@gibbleway FFX and FF7 are even interconnected by "Shinra Corp" references in FFX2 and FF7 Remake!
Finn is a man of culture for putting FFX-2 on the S tier rank. I’m glad someone else appreciates the game for what it was.
Very underrated. Love the jobs and the robots you can ride.
I loved it.. loved 13-2 too btw.. and my fav are 7 and 10 😅❤
💯
Would love to see a tier list just based off the music alone
second that but this guy is pure technical aspects music is an appreciation of emotion which is why he ranked ff7 a tier and 8 in b tier, otherwise s tier and almost and still probably S tier with 8 just because how goofy 9 and beyond came to be, I stopped at 9 and thought it was a nice refreshing complete macro story of a game.
I have twins, tidus and luca. Currently have a tattoo appointment for the brotherhood sword and tidus’ name in the yevon language and Lucas name in the Al bhed language revolving around it.
I do a full play through of every final fantasy in order once a year
Great video Finn, nice to hear something different and as a FF fans this was very entertaining
10 2 and Tatics 2 better than than 7. On what planet ?
@perkosean I've never played Tactics 2, but The original I do enjoy equal to or more than FFVII, and that was my impression before I was influenced by magazines and the internet. FFVII is a damn good game, with music better than most OSTs, but it's got a lot of smoke blown up its ass over the years.
Out of the ones I've played so far
9>6>7>1>8
I like them all though so no disrespect to fans of 8
Bro really wants to get himself killed with this tierlist💀
Nobody's getting killed for tier lists.
Shout out to Finn for not only having alot of knowledge in the music scene but also being a RPG nerd 🤘🏽🤓🎮
Right? I was fucking ecstatic when I scrolled and found this video
Finn putting the respect on FFX 2 that it DESERVES
I learned to read playing old JRPGs.
Mmmmmmm. DANGEROUS TERRITORY MY FRIEND.
I swear to god finn... you better get this right! >:D
Yeah he didn't. TA an 10 poo Stier and ff7 A. OK if u want to put 7 A tier. But if ur gonna do that 10 poo needs to be to be D AT BEST
FF7 is my favorite but his criticisms are spot on. For anyone reading this I highly suggest playing a modded copy on PC. There are some extremely good mods that fix a significant amount of the games flaws and bring it up to the S tier level.
FF10 part 2 over FF7.........🙄 yup
Lmfao dude we have the exact same rankings
“People didnt like 15 cuz it was gay and stuff. Boy band silly shit. Thats why I like it”
Same with X2!!
I leveled too hard and the first boss after you go across the water was too tough and i didnt have the gear so he just kept beating me.
but FF 14 is the coolest concept. i wish i could follow the story better, but apparently its really good.
this is the tierlist that i need
Seriously! 😂
It's not the tierlist we wanted, it's the tierlist we needed
Wrong
I agree with almost every placement on this list except 7. Definitely deserves to be in S tier. I first played it back in 2015 as senior in high school and adored everything about it from the world and characters to the story and combat. Even the graphics are somewhat charming to me in the same way 16 bit graphics/pixel art are for most gamers
Yes, the graphics are very charming similar to the 16bit character models. S-tier for sure!
I loved FFX-2 too, I used to leave the main menu up on purpose to listen to the theme haha
Every time i watch finns videos, whether it be the mba channel or the self titled channel, i get nostalgic as hell. Reminds me of me being yound with long ass hair. Yes, i had the topknot and shaved all the way around on the sides.
You actually know your FF history, and the behind the scenes history pretty well too. Not surprising, but kudos 👏
FF9 is the best. There is no argument.
Meh
there is 😂. it is a great game though
Finn if you made a vid showing pics of you during the 90s and 00s and explaining the musical context behind it could be de definitive video ever made
Funny you put this video out as I am now starting to play final fantasy. Never played it and jumping into FFVII as my first one. I thought that was the one with the most hype.
9, 7, 10 are my top 3 and now probably 16
Props for giving FFX some love. It definitely has pleeeeeeeenty of flaws, but I would argue that the feeling of playing it also gives something unique that other entries don't offer. Is that just nostalgia talking? Maybe. But it's the only one that I can quote half of the script when replaying. Memorable
Finn, about 6, there's 12 characters. Terra, Locke, Edgar, Sabin, Cyan, Gau, Relm, Strago, Setzer, Shadow, Umaro, and Gogo.
14 actually, you forgot Celes and Mog. But still thumbs up.
12 was my favorite, countless hours
The Final Fantasy community is probably the most welcoming community of opinions. These videos always have really cool discussions in the comments
1 gets points for being first but 3 was actually a pretty good game, way better than 2. It started the job system and introduced moggles an summons. There's so many iconic things that are in just about every game that started in 3, that alone makes it a very important entry.
Your list is actually pretty good, very reasonable, Id put XII on S tier myself but thats about it.
That's awesome!!! Welcome to the Franchise haha
Seven is top tier for the story and music. Please do a Zelda tier list
FF8 is so good, the ending makes me cry bad until this day, plus it has the best character ever: Laguna.
I think i'm one of the few people who likes FF8 much more than FF9. FF9 just never did much for me. My top 3 are 6,7 and 8.
What about Crystal Chronicles?!?! That was a very fun unique game on the gamecube!!
FFCC with the best ost too
"people thought it was gay.... that's why I liked it!"
lol
Well to each his own man
13:19 the video fills its ultimate gauge and unleashes an audio jump-scare blip attack!
XIV is God Tier to me. It's the best MMO I've ever played, and arguably the greatest story in all of gaming.
I agree with everything except your placement of FFVII. I don’t care how cliche it is but I love that game and replay it quite a bit!
Now, FFX-2, I wasn’t into when it came out but you’re making me want to give it another try.
Play it again!!! Also make sure to mess around with the costumes, that is what makes the combat fun!
I love the ancient/future ocean vibe in FF X. Man it was mind blowing in 01' 02'. The Best!! 💙💙💙💙💙💙
This is the video I've been waiting for
I still listen to the FF Tactics soundtrack on an almost weekly basis. 😅
After playing all 6 of the originals in the repixel bundle, 5 is the best out of the 6 imo. 5 is top tier even for today.
Love that game
Agreed, 5 is top notch, after playing pixel remaster I still can’t get into FFVI lol
I play ff14 daily, it’s such a good game 🙏
Me tooooo lol
12 is S tier and underrated af
Final Fantasy VIII is My Favorite RPG Ever❤
I'm playing X-2 right now and I love it. I never thought I'd like it but it came with the X HD remaster so I gave it a shot and I do not regret it.
I was honestly pretty surprised to see this. I love your content about music. Fortune favors the brave brother.
Final Fantasy 7 went from overrated (everyone thinking it was the greatest thing ever) to underrated (it's overrated because of nostalgia and it's bad/not great because I'm cool and like 6)
Still better than FF10 part 2
7 is S Stier purely based on what it did for gaming and what it did for JRPGs in the west. Not mention how revolutionary those cut scenes were
I really didn't mind XIII and I absolutely love XIII-2.
Bro no Smashing Pumpkins video and now you put X-2 over VII??? We seriously need to debate this 😠😤
For a linear robotic person your technical aspects were accurate, but the emotionality missing saw games like 8 and 7 both from being a tier above themselves. I would personally look back at 8 and rank it higher now to an A if not S tier, the game wasnt 7 experience followup and that disappointed me but the jumps from 7-8-9 were mastefully done from square and to be looked back on with more amazement then from as it came.
