It all depends on the bacground process running, when you open any browser it loads a tons of things including your - Profile Cookies Saved password Cache storages Any extensions (takes the highest memory) History Bookmarks Themes (if any) And many other processes which are interlinked and are followed in sequence, having an HDD takes a lot of time to process based on what version of browser you are running and on what OS and how is the parallel process management is done. Your browser might start fast in windows 10 but if the same older version of chrome if opened in Windows XP it might open faster than this, the reason being is that with time there are many other features which are added to the software which makes the app heavy and difficult to lift.
