Wow... The art on the Japan Historics set and the names in Japanese on the front- great execution of a great idea. This is the kind of artwork that makes a lot of us buy 2 of each- one to open and one for display in the package.
The excessively grainy tampos are spoiling every car in premium and it absolutely should be fixed, especially since theres been a stark decline in quality over the past few years. Unfortunately I don't expect Hot Wheels to do anything about it.
I mean, look at that RX3. Horrid.
The only casting that got enhanced by the grainy tampo is that rusty one.

I know some people wanted more muscles but HW had already catered to it before, so much so that it costed them the Ferrari license. One thing i like about HW today is they're trying to expand it's market world wide, not just stuck in the past. That's why we have tons of JDMs and Europe with more realistic designs. It may be hit or miss but at least it's different enough from the usual muscles and stuff.

true i don’t see the lack of muscle as an issue, HW has made premium muscle cars for literal decades. Most of their vintage premiums are USDM cars. I can’t tell you how many Larry’s Garage type cars they have made. I’m glad they’re branching out as well

Spoon FL5 is a surprise. Paj Evo was something i felt would come out ever since the normal car dropped last yr. Datsun truck reminds me of the Nissan King Cab truck from Tamiya. Also the Mazda 323 GTR whooo weeee. that is nice.

MATTELS PATINA WORK IS AMAZING. Even on other mattel products the patina and rust Mattel does is Awesome 👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️

A lot of nice stuff coming. Yes even the JDMs. I know I complain of the lack of American cars in premium, but I do like the cars we do get. Just would like more variety. Seems the same JDM’s are being rolled out over and over. I like the new stuff though….Corolla, Gen 3 Supra, etc.

The blue trailer is all wrong. Can't have a low front like that. It would be neat if the patina varied so not all the same. Some of these look like they have extra thick paint vs how the released cars will be. The orange Corolla is awesome. I see so many I'd steal wheels from. Those big 5 spoke chromies are sweet.

Ugh!! Still trying to hold out hope for a Gen 1 or 2 VW Scirocco. That Corrado at the end of the year is giving me more. I’m a car guy as far as taste, I like the JDM, favorite is Muscle cars, but there’s just something about that German style. I’d honestly give up all my JDMs for a Gen 2 Scirocco.
HW never put much effort into watercooled VWs and when they do, they put tacky decos on them. Early VWs are so popular yet HW just does not care to include them. Matchbox however are some of the best at this scale 😎 just a shame they don't do them in premium lines.

American muscle and classics have unfortunately been non existent in Car Culture. I don’t get it. How can you have Car Culture without American classics? Totally ignoring a huge segment of Car Culture. What do you mostly see at car shows in America? Anyway, I hope that changes soon.

Ok so who is responsible for putting the front driving lights on the SE-R in the wrong place? I drove a real one for 7 years and this casting is just plain wrong.
"Authentic", they say, yet all Japanese-sold Hot Wheels have English text only on the front and in fact every Japanese car has its name on it in roman letters. That's not authentic, it's a gimmick. Also, why is Honda alone written in roman letters?
