The best part of the original Japan Historics was the use of CRISP decals, as opposed to the crddy dot matrix decals that have adorned every other set.
You noted that Prince “became” Nissan. It would be more accurate to say Prince “was merged into the already existing Nissan Motor Company”. Great video. Thanks for all you do for the hobby.
@@stevebricker2542 Datsun was originally one of Nissan's first names before it was formerly known as Nissan. Back then, they produced mostly Industrial vehicles starting in the 1930s. Later on during this decade, the owners essentially started separating the industrial side from the automotive side and then the "Nissan" name became a branch for the general motor cars under the Datsun brand, while the other branch focused on industrial and military vehicles. Later during the 1950s, the name was applied to exported versions of Nissans (mostly in North America and Australia) but that was phased out in 1986, when Infiniti came into the picture and were mostly rebadged versions of pre-existing Nissans. It relaunched as an economy and industrial sub-brand in 2013 in South Asia but was phased out again in 2022.
@@DaMotoristX Add to this: In N. America, the ‘83 Datsuns were all badged as “Datsun”. In ‘84, they were dual badged as both “Datsun” & “Nissan” except the new models (like the new 300ZX) were only badged “Nissan”. For ‘85, Datsun was history.
Man... I would love to see the Mk1 Celica Supra next year on this series! We also would finally have all members of the Supra family with that one too.
My favorite car culture set since the very 1st set dropped.Japan Historics brought true jdm into the hotwheels spotlight 🔰🤩 The 1st set is truly hard to beat,as far as the new set goes the corolla, fairlady Z,and little premium honda are my favorites.😎👍
I know the tampo work on the early Car Cultures left much to be desired but I honestly think I'd still go with the first wave of Japan Historics since it had the Toyota 2000GT plus it had to date the only time they've ever put the regular, non-LBWK-mangled, Kenmeri Skyline casting into a retail premium Hot Wheels line with Real Riders. (it was also in Heritage 2015 but that release had plastic wheels.)
@@jeremysuit6957 I have the first three sets but it's hard for me to rank the fourth based solely on photos and TH-cam videos. I'm just going by castings not decos. I certainly wish there was another Japanese Historics (or any Car Culture or Boulevard) release of the relatively stock Kenmeri Skyline casting (but I actually do really like the Japanese police car livery on that one Japan Historics 1 release) but, given that Japan Historics 1 had the only premium Hot Wheels release of the Kenmeri, it still has the edge for me. I do reaally like the Civic in the new set though.
@SteveBrandon yeah I want to get the 4th set but that it'll probably be around Christmas I'm going to wait for the price to go down. An I want the new modern classic set with the 2 white skylines
Agreed with almost everything said. The variety of factory colors (of the 70s) was wild, and my favorite thing in the Japan Historics line. Purple C210, green Laurel, orange Corolla Levin, yellow Z... love them all. The red Civic Custom is ok, but it's hard to beat the lime green, orange, and yellow (with Honda wings) in mainline. The Japanese cop car livery is a hit every time. My favorite might be the red Kenmeri mainline, or the recent RX-7 in inverted black-white, *finally* doing that casting some justice. JH3 was a huge pegwarmer locally. No one appreciated the factory muted green Silvia (a killer color on the later model Silvia in Boulevard!), the KDR30 was too plain (like the Devil Z, it might be a nod to the Western Cop TV series -- Tomica has a similar one in its pop culture-influenced Premium Unlimited line), the Cosmo and City Turbo had no following. But the Sunny truck was *incredibly* hard to find. I love the sunburst yellow with metallic flakes, the tiny wheels, and the low stance. It's right up there with the purple C210 and green Laurel, IMO. Overall, JH2 might be my favorite (until I get my hands on JH4), simply for the wide variety of colors.
I was lucky enough to get the RX3 and Skyline from the first set when it was new, but I do remember by the next time I came back to pick up the rest it was completely gone. I really do like JH3 and have the Cosmo and the Ryu Asada City Turbo
Great video Thanks ! I can't pick a favorite set but I do have favorite cars for each # of casting. #1 are a tie between JH3 and JH4 . #2 JH4 and JH2 VERY close. #3 JH3 . #4 JH4 ... I grab this Honda casting every time I see it in the wild , I think I have 3 or 4 versions of it and great to see it as a premium finally. #4 JH4 wins yet JH3 and JH2 and very strong castings . #5 JH2 with JH3 VERY close too. As far as the art of the cards ? I like JH1 the best .
@wut0.o I would of bought it lol I have JH2 & JH3 I'm waiting on the new JH4 & the new modern classics sets to drop. Right the prices on the new sets are wild I'll wait a few months maybe Christmas to get mine. I'd like to find JH1 for a good price not $200+
I would just like to see corvettes get more premium love. All we’ve seen is the custom c2 stingray and c3 and drag c6. Everyone raves the c6 zr1 super yet we’ve never seen it go premium yet being one of the greatest/popular cars ever made on the American side. Also the casting isn’t wonky like the c7 zr1, I’d premium the hardtop c7 z06 as well. Also been years since we’ve seen a c5. Yet we see every other American car all the time.
Can this community tell me where I should be looking for the new set of these cars when they come out? I feel like I never see things like this at any targets. Are these Walmart things? Do I have to go online or something? Please point me in the right direction. Thanks.
i love your content and watch everyone but your ranking is more like top peg warmers. dont get me wrong i like obscure cars myself but the advan 510 and the 510 sedan out of the set 1 is just wrong. i agree the tasmpos missing for headlights and tails is a issue but... i think the new set is the worse of them all. just my opinion but cant agree with any of your ranking on this
There was only one "Godzilla" Skyline. The R32 GT-R, hailed that way by Australian media. Adding that moniker to any other Skyline is just plain wrong.
I’d say the original or second one. Oh, and there is no reason there should be an Rx3 in 3/4 of the sets when there are endless other castings you could use 🙄
Soooo many bloody nissan/datsun products. I love them, but there's so many other possibilities. So few old Toyota's, never seen the celica 1600gt in premium. Bring on some more old Maida's (r100, rx2) or Isuzu, Suzuki, daihatsu, and maybe a few less nissan/datsun models
Godzilla is only the r32 and r33 gtr generations because of how good they were at racing at the time. The r34 wasn’t as good of a racing car so it never got called that until people learned about it and started calling it that because it makes big power
Awesome car culture Japan historic sets you have and you reviewed congrats.👍 They're all my favorites.👍
I love them all, every casting in all series!!!!! Great video and very informative as always. Big Thanks Indeed!!!!!

Yes, this is the key piece.
Where is Datsun in all of this?

@SteveBrandon I like this 4th set the best honestly an the 2nd with the sliver bluebird datson

That Prince is going to be a peg warmer .... if it makes it to the pegs
Yeah! Tell him 😅
Soooo Phenomenal cars, thanks for Content.
Freaking awesome. Thanks for the content:)
I was pissed about most of the wheels being the same on the 4th set. However, they are period correct. Good job HW
Honestly lamley I love them all. I stood no chance to choose one. I love them all 😂
I was lucky enough to get the RX3 and Skyline from the first set when it was new, but I do remember by the next time I came back to pick up the rest it was completely gone. I really do like JH3 and have the Cosmo and the Ryu Asada City Turbo
Wish list for jh5: R31 skyline so we have the full lineup, mk1 supra, first gen rx7 (in premium), 910/1800 bluebird, datsun 280zx or z31.
Great video Thanks ! I can't pick a favorite set but I do have favorite cars for each # of casting. #1 are a tie between JH3 and JH4 . #2 JH4 and JH2 VERY close. #3 JH3 . #4 JH4 ... I had the chance to buy Japan historics 1 for $70 off Facebook marketplace years ago and now it's selling for over $300 🙃👍
Very cool castings lamley group
I can't believe how much the first set is going for I seen somebody paid $250 for that set at a toy show a couple months ago
I just made a comment about this I had a chance to buy the set for $70 years ago 😭
@wut0.o I would of bought it lol I have JH2 & JH3 I'm waiting on the new JH4 & the new modern classics sets to drop. Right the prices on the new sets are wild I'll wait a few months maybe Christmas to get mine. I'd like to find JH1 for a good price not $200+
For me it's 2, 4, 3, 1. And I don't own a single car from any set. Can't find just the right deal. All your top 5 winners are nice picks.
So historic 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Let's do a ranking video of Deutschland Design's series! (if the third set comes lol)

Mattel doesn't make any money off of previous sets. I can't be certain, but I'd bet that "helped" JH4 to the number one position.
There was only one "Godzilla" Skyline. The R32 GT-R, hailed that way by Australian media. Adding that moniker to any other Skyline is just plain wrong.
are you flying down to philippines to attend and get the luzviminda gasser?
You are the GOAT
I’d say the original or second one. Oh, and there is no reason there should be an Rx3 in 3/4 of the sets when there are endless other castings you could use 🙄
Why is the paint so rough on these?

Great suggestion! I'd love to see a Cappuccino and/or Swift Gt. I owned the latter. Isuzu I-Mark turbo, Stylus turbo and Impulse come to mind as well.
I have that JH1 Advan 510 wagon. I never opened it.
Now that you're building a "studio", how about filming inside all the time so we can stop hearing about glare, wind and noise.
That beautiful DR30 Totally beats that Prince. 😅
I'd go for the Cosmos.
Lamley. Showcase. Battle. Of. Hot. Wheels. Japan. Historics
Still like the first releases the best.
Finally a te27
Green Laurel is #1

So, only one was called it until another was called it and another was called it?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
My son has preordered this new set so I might beat him and take it from him haha
Japan Historic 2, 3 and 4 were extremely underwhelming. Worst set is definitely JH4 which will warm the pegs like JH3 did.
The only one I got from jh3 was the sunny 😅
you got your 1 and 2 round the wrong way for JH1
Gold and yellow don't go together.
JH2 > JH1 > JH3 > JH4.
JH4 is so bad, so many boxy and ugly looking cars, only Fairlady Z is good.
