    This video is amazing. I used PixInsight for the first time and was to do a decent editing using your tutorial! The only issue I faced is about the EZ Suite unavailability. I found an alternative - GHS stretch. Thanks a lot for the tutorial :)

    Ok, I've done a ton of pixinsight tutorials over the past few months, and I'm always learning something new with each one. This was a fantastic tutorial, and I wish it was the first one I had ever done. Your tutorials are always must sees for me, you've just got a great instructor voice.

    Awesome video! I have all the processing tools. I just needed to put everything together and your video is just the ticket! I've learned a lot about Astrophotography in the past 2 years via TH-cam. And, very often, your channel is one of my favorite go to's. Your Rosette imaging process paralleled my own for the North America Nebula: 3 hours imaging time, Canon EOS Rebel T4i modified DSLR and Optolong L-enhance filter. Because of this imaging similarity, I followed your process and now have an pretty good finished NA Nebula image as a result. You explain in plain English and give reasons for what you do. Pixinsight is a great program, but, really daunting with one hellacious learning curve. Your instruction is easy to follow and helped me build some processing confidence. Please, make more of these PI videos.

    Nice job on this, Walt. Thanks! I've been learning PI during the never-ending clouds this winter. I know it's not a beginner's tool and I don't know if you've already tried it, but the Generalize Hyperbolic Stretch tool is pretty awesome. Like the regular stretch on steroids! (I don't know how to use it yet, I just tried it a couple of times.) This was a great intro to a PI workflow.

  • @w8bya
    @w8bya ปีที่แล้ว

    Howdy. Just starting out with PI and have been watching a lot of YT videos on how to start out. I must say I really like your style, your comfortable speed, and most importantly you explain why you are doing things. You deserve a pat on the back. The one thing that kills me is when I see folks hit the square (along the bottom) to apply a process yet at other times they will drag and drop the half triangle onto the image to apply the process. At times both are available but no reason is ever given why one was used over the other. Anyway, TU very much, keep up the excellent work.

    • @deltaastrophotography
      @deltaastrophotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      The triangle is probably most useful if you want to apply something to multiple images. It's also good for dragging your settings onto the workspace to create a processing icon with the settings your just made. I hope that made sense! 🤣

    Hi Walt, Always enjoy your videos, but I also want to add one tip that Adam Block shared about 3 weeks ago as a thank you to the TH-cam astro community. In th-cam.com/video/7ldbGxFi-OM/w-d-xo.html he describes using Star Exterminator *before* applying Dynamic Background Extraction. This creates a starless field that greatly facillates the placement of DBE regions of interest without having to avoid star clutter. Do this, run DBE on the 'clean' field, and then add back the stars and keep moving along, just faster and more accurately...

    Greetings Walt. Love the site and always learning something from you and tickled with the humour. A bit off topic, but PixInsight far beyond my means , at present. Please give me your thoughts on Backyard EOS. Worth the efoort or too old to be viable? Thank you for your time, James.

      I've been thinking about that. There are a lot of things Pixinsight can do that Photoshop can't without paid plugins or using free software like Siril. But at the same time Pixinsight sucks when it comes to masking. There is so much to consider. Would it be fair if I did the comparison using the paid plugins in Photoshop?
