I like all these neww features they have added to the lock screen. I just hope that in the future they let you move the time and widgets around and not have to work around the picture/wallpaper you have in mind.
My only issues are that we should be able to move the widget above and below based on where we want it. Like the calendar that shows the month and date, it has to be on the very top and not under the time. You also can't change the font of the date and I would like the clock and date to match. I would also like a weather option that says just your city and an icon (sun, moon, rain, whatever) and the temp on one line under or above the clock. It would be nice to be able to make most of the simple text coordinate in font.
I think u should move to Android. 😅 cause basically apple won’t give that to you. If you can’t appreciate the new update, I guess moving to android would please you.

How do you change the wallpaper on the lock screen without making an entirely new widget set up? This is a major step backwards for changing the wallpaper. It’s way more complicated than it needs to be. I got my old Samsung phone out to do something the other day and it was literally like two steps to change the wallpaper.
As depth effect covers a portion of the clock, widgets would be covered up by depth effect as well, so you can't use both features at once. You can create 2 lock screens with the same wallpaper--one with widgets, another with depth effect.

My brother switched from android to apple after his phone broke. He likes the new lockscreen update. He says is so much better now, and he’s been a droid user for awhile. I’m in love with iOS 16, especially all the customization features. I have 50 lockscreens I shuffle between every hour now, and it gives me variety. I love it because I never get bored of my lock or Home Screen.
You can also select multiple photos/wallpapers and the iPhone will switch those any time the screen turns on/off. Just saying so you don't have to switch that often :V

Mine keeps changing the wallpaper at the same time as the Lock Screen. I only want to change the Lock Screen and keep the wallpaper as it is. So frustrating that they removed the simple method before where we simply choose ‘wallpaper, Lock Screen or both’.
Great video! Lots of useful info. I’m wondering if you or anyone if the comments can help me though - earlier today I somehow faded the display of my clock and date stamp on my Lock Screen. When I’m in the customization menus everything looks great, but as soon as I leave the customization it’s faded again. I know I must be missing a setting somewhere, but I can’t for the life of me find it. It happened after I somehow locked my phone down for 5 mins - another new feature I wasn’t aware of, I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it….

The Lock Screen dims and blurs during Sleep focus, or during any focus with Dim Lock Screen enabled. The option to disable this for Sleep focus has been removed.

It’s quite frustrating that if you only want to use 1 widget it doesn’t allow you to position it as per your liking. It will always be centred.

I read somewhere that it only works on iPhone XR, XS and above but not on iPhone X.
You just need to adjust the Subject of your photo properly, then the toggle for Depth effect will be enabled. Hope it helps.
