myself i went to devry institute of technology your vids are great
Hi fellow engineer, thank you for watching. Gr. Jim
Such a nice, informative video, good job.
Could you do a series on the STEAM DECK as well?
Hi, i don't have a steam deck to analyse if i get one i will try then. Thank you for watching. Gr. Jim
awesome work!👍

Hey Jim, really nice content. I think you are also from the Netherlands. Do you know if there is like a place where you can talk to people like you to share enthusiasm and to learn from each other? I have the feeling I'm alone sometimes when it comes too modding haha!
Hi Armando, yes you are correct i'm from the Netherlands. Same here it is hard to find friends with the same interest. Maybe you can join a discord group or maybe join as a volunteer at a repair cafe then you can meet persons with same interest. Thank you for your feedback. Gr. Jim
I have a question. Say for example I purchased a water-damaged Switch Lite from Ebay with a defective screen that won't power on anymore.
How do I make sure the APU is sending the "Enable" signal to the chip, in order to help filter the source of No Image problem? Do I just check for voltage and assume it's working?
Hi, i would first test the LCD display with a donor LCD, or test if the SW pin of the back light IC is generating the power. If there is power to the SW PIN then it means the APU / SoC is booting up en pwm and enable signals are present. If you don't have a image on the screen but do have backlight check the Backlight and also the LCD driver circuit for corrosion or check the LCD screen. The enable signal is under the IC you can't measure it from the outside. Gr. Jim
Very good Video. Can you tell what Kind of fuse on the USB-C Port is? Is it a 0201 32V 3A? Or anorher?
Hi i think it's 0402 3A SMD Fuse. Gr. Jim
Hello, I have a question is the TPD61163 chip you show and the small (tiny) chip that has markings U7Y is the same chip?
Hi, correct this is the backlight IC for LCD screen for the nintendo switch and the Nintendo switch lite. Gr. Jim
hello sir, if im missing fb1 and fb2, i got black screen and replaced 2 times the backlight ic
i only have 4.2v or 3.9v on SW
Hi, There are a few causes: LCD screen could be bad, Backlight driver IC, Missing or bad component near the driver IC. Also check if the PWM signal is present this signal comes from the SoC. There is not more that you can investigate. If there is no PWM signal when you turn the console on maybe the console is not booting up then the problem is somewhere else. Gr. Jim
@@fixmyappjim i resolve the issue replacing the FPC of DAUGTHER board to mainboard
@@zeefixhub Good job! so we where on the right track a damaged fpc connector, good to know! Gr. Jim
Hi man!
Sorry to bother you!
I have an issue with my son OLED. It doesn't output sund anymore on speakers and hdmi. It only outputs sound on the headphones. Tried replacing the board with the jack, but i still get the same. Tried to boot without the board, rhe same. Changed speakers, also disconected them, the same. But, if i plug a jack in the headset connector, not all the way in, but like 1/2 to 3/4, the switch starts to switch from headphones to speakers, with sound intermittent from either speakers or headphones... It' like it doesn't know that the headphoes are not plugged in. Any idea?
Thank you!
Hi, if you do not see any missing components near the connectors and if all solder joints and pins are ok i would reflow the audio chip / replace it or check the solder joints, missing / damaged components near the audio chip. Gr. Jim
Hey man, thank you so much for you videos. Just discovered them recently. One question, maybe you can help: I have a switch lite here, which had blod, I reflowed cpu, everything works, but I get no picture. But the backlight is on. Can you give me hints? I already changed the MAX77620H chip.
Hi Andyman, when backlight is on it means that the Switch is booted so APU and eMMc and all voltages are present. If you don't get an image then first i would check if the inserted the ribbon cable correcty in the FPC connector. Try an donor LCD if you have it to confirm that the screen is working. Also check the LCD driver circuit i has to generate a positive and negative voltage for the LCD screen. I will be releasing a video about the lcd driver in a few days. Last, because you reflowed the APU i would reflow it again as the datalines for creating the image comes from the APU and go to the LCD connector to the LCD, maybe not all pads are reflowed correctly? Gr. Jim
@@fixmyappjim hello Jim, thank you so much for your quick reply.
I already tried with a brand new lcd, same result. I reballed the CPU and installed it again, same result. I guess it is the lcd driver then? But I have not the knowledge to test it, yet. I will wait for your video and check if I can get it to work.
I have a new lcd fpc connector, do you think I should change the connector, as while I reflowed, maybe flux went inside the lcd connector?
@@der-andyman I would indeed focus on the FPC connector check if all pins are straight and ok. Remove any flux this can cause connection problems . Gr. Jim
@@fixmyappjim Ok mate, thank you. I will change the port tomorrow and solder it back pin by pin with as little flux as possible. I hope I can finally get my brothers switch lite back to life. Never had issues like this before in my life XD
i have a nintendo switch lite that is water damaged. there sound but a black screen is the backlight ic damaged? and if it is can you tell me where to buy the backlight ic (and if its a tps61163a or BOU196). please respond thank you.
Hi indeed the backlight ic could be faulty check if you screen has an image when you light it from a external light if you see an image then the backlight is faulty. Cause can be the screen but i also suspect the backlight ic. Just search in google and you will find switch lite backlight ic. Gr. Jim
@@fixmyappjim so its the backlight?
@@ghaleb.a Hi i would first check pin 2 of the backlight connector to see if there is a voltage present. If the brightness is set to high there would be a voltage of +17V max. If this voltage is present then you LCD is faulty, if the voltage is lower like +4V then i know the backlight IC is faulty. Gr. Jim
@@fixmyappjim ok thank you so much. and just in case if the backlight ic is faulty where can i buy it from and would you mind telljng me if its an BOU196 or a TPS61163
@@ghaleb.a Part nr does not matter you can buy this one. nl.aliexpress.com/i/1005002617330992.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2nld
Hi sir , i have a switch lite that i placed a hwfly ship befor i placed the switch was normal work after the hwfly ship thr screen go black but yoy can sound the tap and the digital works too .. i hae found that the backlight ic become very hot when i turn it on without have any image just sound .. if i change the ic backlight its resolve the probleme ??
I try too deffirent fpc cable but no result with it just the ic backlight always hot when turn the switch on hot with no image just sounds
Hi, The backlight of the LCD screen is controlled by the backlight driver. I would replace the backlight driver IC if it get's hot. The backlight driver IC has to generate a max voltage of 17 volt depending on the brightness settings in the Nintendo Switch. The CPU sends a PWM signal to this driver IC and it will start generating the voltage for the LED in the LCD screen. Gr. Jim
be great to see a oled gpu reball
The Nintendo Switch V1, V2, Lite and OLED all have the same reballing process, but you never know when i get a oled blue screen of death to repair. Gr. Jim
