FixMyApp is a relaxed TH-cam channel where you can see educational videos of interesting repairs and analyze PCB boards builds from my perspective.
My name is Jimmy and I am a hobbyist technician with a degree in electronics engineering and software development. I've been interested in electronics since I was a child. I was that kid who took every electronic device apart to see how they worked.
In the last few years my interest was mainly in component level repair so I learned to repair electronics on my own and with some help from fellow engineers. Sometimes I succeed in repairing a device and sometimes I don't.
I buy faulty electronics with my own money and try to repair it and then sell it for a profit. In this process I try to learn how the device works and try to make a Diary for the repair community through this TH-cam channel.

Desktop Motherboard Standby Voltages, Power Rails, and Circuits Explained - Part 2
Standby voltages on desktop motherboards are specific power levels supplied even when the system is turned off but still connected to a power source (e.g., plugged into an outlet with the PSU switch on). These voltages are necessary for basic functions like waking the computer from sleep, powering the real-time clock (RTC), and enabling the soft power-on/off functionality.

I had the same problem with my camera and thanks to your video I could repair it and it works again! Many Thanks!!🙂
Thank you for this amazing video. I have very strange problem on one OLED motherboard. Although all other USB functions are working, HDMI, 5V and 15V charging, data transfer with dock or direct PC connection (MTP), USB-C doesn't power devices on its own. That means when you connect, for example, Pro controller directly to USB-C without dock or external USB HDD/SSD/NVME, that devices doesn't work. It works on every other Switch I tried, but not on this motherboard. To better illustrate problem, if you use any USB-C hub, even if that hub doesn't support HDMI output for Switch, USB device will start to work the moment you add power to that USB hub. If you have any advice what I have to check on the board. Pretty much is impossible to find anything on internet, because Google thinks I am looking for solution for delivering power to Switch, but my problem is that Switch doesn't deliver power to accessories on its own... and at least 5 other do that without any problem.
Thanks!! 👌
This is the best Video which i ever see in my life 🥺🥺 I have a 12v Short directly on the Powesupply + and - on Mainboard is that means AGPU Are defective or looking for the 7 Mosfets ? Every 7 Mosfet have short 🥺
Nice video, I am working on something similar. One question: Why did you use the 64 amp circuit breaker? I mean, its 4 x 600 W (bottom heater) + 450 W (top heater) = 2950 W total. Divided by 220V it comes to about 13.4 amps. I mean, the 64 at 30 ms will never pop, even if there is a short. The main breaker with RCD should instead pop first at 16 amps in 5 ms. Or am I missing something?
Very cool & instructive stuff in here.. i'm subscribing immediately ❤ I was wondering how to protect all the smd capacitors ..memory chips & all components at the back of the pcb of nowadays graphic cards.. there is a bunch of them made like that. the components will be facing lower heater.
I'm missing the 5v power on rail near the on botton. Is it safe for me to inject 1v hear and see what gets hot?

You're a god. I love you so much. Thank you for sharing this information. I'm here because my switch lite is only charging on one side. Motherboard CC2 location has no reading.
thx vey beautiful video
Could you provide the readouts of inductors and capacitors around the 77812 chip on the Switch Lite? I've watched some videos of yours, and I couldn't find that information.
Thanks for the video, where can I have the lf155 part?
When mesuring hdmi pins in diod mode should the board have any power connected or does it work completly free?
Hi, diode mode always with all power disconnected else you can create shorts. Gr. Jim
@ thanks!
@ replaced broken hdmi port. Every pin seems to have connection, tv sens the ps5 but no picture. I’m unsure if the hdmi cap was soldered with enouth conctact sins i couldent go closer with microskope. Hdmi diod on backside also got som small heat dameges. Could this case white light but no picture?🙏🏼
Do you have more mapped wiring diagrams of other PS3, Xbox X, Xbox S consoles for sale, etc.? I'm from Brazil.
Hi i don't have it, if i do i will make a video :) . Thank you for watching. Gr. Jim
I've never understood this product. Is it somehow different than a regular premium quality USB hub?
Hi, Unlike most standard USB hubs, the Overhub uses Multi-TT technology. This allows each connected device like midi devices to operate at its optimal USB speed without being slowed down by other devices on the hub that is the biggest difference. Gr. Jim
I have a faulty edm 020 board. 2sec blod. All my voltage rails are present apart from the ram coil is dead I get no volts and 0.04 ohms on the ram vias. I noticed under the microscope at the power button there is only one resister and a neighbouring empty pad. Should there be two resisters at the power button?
Hi sorry can't tell i currenty don't have any board which i can check. Maybe you can compare online photo's? Gr. Jim
@fixmyappjim Its okay. The missing resistor is to do with the blu ray version. So its not included with the Digital Edition. Same with V rails F5401 and F5402, missing fuses, but again they are to do with powering the disc version. One last question, when removing componant such as IC's to isolate a short is it still safe to check stanby voltage rails?
@@johnmellor932 Ok learned something new :) Yes removing an component you can still check voltages unless the component is responsible for creating a voltage rail then it is missing. Gr. Jim
Hi the lower right cap near the BQ chip is shorted even after removing the BQ chip. Any advice? Sorry I’m still new to repairing switches
Hi, Thank you for watching. I would inject a voltage of +- 1V to see which components get hot. Gr. Jim

I have recevied a lot rp2040 and I and I have put in switch v2 and when I start the console now backlight work but not display , but in hdmi work good ( owf ) I have make second console same thing …
I would check the custom soldering job to see if there are components missing or damaged. Maybe remove the rp2040 to see if it works again if not i would investigate the LCD driver connector and IC. Gr. Jim

Hi i would first check pin 2 of the backlight connector to see if there is a voltage present. If the brightness is set to high there would be a voltage of +17V max. If this voltage is present then you LCD is faulty, if the voltage is lower like +4V then i know the backlight IC is faulty. Gr. Jim
Hello , thanks , I have tested backlight 16.2v
Hope to see more of these love this info sir

i have a nintendo switch lite that is water damaged. there sound but a black screen is the backlight ic damaged? and if it is can you tell me where to buy the backlight ic (and if its a tps61163a or BOU196). please respond thank you.
Hi indeed the backlight ic could be faulty check if you screen has an image when you light it from a external light if you see an image then the backlight is faulty. Cause can be the screen but i also suspect the backlight ic. Just search in google and you will find switch lite backlight ic. Gr. Jim
@@fixmyappjim so its the backlight?
