The Taylor Hall trade. The devs got some good prospects and we don’t mind a first round pick, containing another top prospect. On the other hand, Taylor Hall was terrible for the Coyotes, giving them close to no help last season, causing him to be let out into free agency without a single offer, and getting picked up by Buffalo. Even there, this season he hasn’t lived up to the hype. I don’t think he’ll ever be the same as the 2017 Taylor Hall.

I'm a Devils fan. Scott Gomez. He fit in perfectly to the Devils system. He had a couple decent seasons in new York but was never near the same player he was in New Jersey. Even when Gomez came back to New Jersey near the end of his career, he put up numbers he hadn't attained in years. At that time though, the Devils were going younger and rebuilding. He is one player I wish would have stayed his whole career in New Jersey. I believe he would have ended yup well over 1000 points and had his number retired there with the other greats had he stayed there his whole career. The guy had some Gretzky like vision and playmaking skills.

Ryan o’reilly was treading water and mired in a losing culture in Buffalo, the blues sent a pair of bottom six forwards who had a small impact at the time and are no longer with the Sabre’s, an unproven prospect who has 14 points in 75 games with the Sabres, and two draft picks, who might turn out to be elite but if so, is several years away. Going way back to 1985 when Boston traded Barry Pedersen to Vancouver for Cam Neely and a 1st round pick. The Bruins used that pick on defenseman Glen Wesley. In Vancouver Cam Neely had scored 51 goals in 251 games. In Boston Neely became a great scorer, scoring 50+ goals in 3 different seasons and 344 goals in 525 games. If not for a bad knee injury, his stats would have been even better. Glen Wesley was a good goal scorer and top defenseman for Boston. Barry Pedersen had been a good player in Boston, scoring 39+ goals in his 1st three seasons. In Vancouver, he only topped 20 goals once.

I get the sharks wanted to keep Karlsson because they gave up so much, but they already had 7mil into an aging vlasic, and 8 mil pylon burns. Brunner had 3 assists in 17 games before that trade, 36 games, 12g 14a for the remainder of the season with Zug and in the following five seasons was one of the best snipers with a Swiss passport and made the national team and later played for Detroit and the Devils... Sergachev would definitely help the Habs blue-line but if you have Sergachev instead of Drouin, who has that type of chemistry with Nick Suzuki that's helping him turn into a potential superstar center in the coming years? He is good otherwise he wouldn't play in the NHL, but he is not that elite defenseman anymore, he used to be and certainly not worth 11.5 million dollars a season...

You mentioned Duchene, but remember what kind of haul Sakic got from the trade? I mean 1 for 1 trade for Girard would have been sad as a Avalanche win for the trade, but noooope. Another notable piece is the draft pick, which ended up being Bowen Byram. Then Duchene went on to have an expensive contract and struggle.

I have a future video suggestion, if you haven't already done this one, but what about each team's 'best team' year. Like what year did each team have their best overall team? Maybe for the last 40 years or something so you don't have to go so far back. What do you think?

Bergevin is highly underrated. Gets a ton of flak but he winds up on the right side of the deal far more often than on the wrong side. For instance the Subban/Weber trade was universally panned at the time. People wanted his head. Looks a lot different now...

I'm not sure it's fair to critique players too harshly as playing in today's NHL with the COVID protocols and the overall state of our country, I think it has to be difficult both on and off the ice. Maybe and mostly off the ice? What the heck do I know? I'm not an NHL hockey player but I will say to every player, good for you to be able to play this great game at such a high pace!

Montreal Canadiens trade for Ken Dryden at the draft after he was drafted by the Boston Bruins, for Alex Campbell, Guy Allen and Paul Reid. Ken Dryden won 6 stanley cups in 9 yrs... Won 6 Veznia trophies, 1 Calder, 1 Conn Smythe trophy. He also sat out 1 yr during a contract dispute. Ken Dryden retired at age 32, because he could. None of the other 3 ever played an NHL game.

Blues trading away Berglund and Sobotka for O’Reilly. Sobotka ended up in the minors and Berglund flat out quit, O’Reilly wins a Conn Smythe (for narrative sake, I left out the additional draft pick and Tage Thompson inclusion, but neither of those help the blues win the 2019 cup)

Even though Brassard was an impact for Ottowa Senators eliminating the NYRs the following year, thereafter Brassard began a Decline, and, has been sent to different teams, since, while Mika Zibanejad has thrived for The NYRs.
