I've never thought of deleting the legend and manually creating one... Brilliant!

Hi Mynda.. super tricks and tips on this one. It really makes the basic line chart look much more interesting and unique, compared to standard default Data Label placement. Excellent.. thanks for sharing. Thumbs up!

@@MyOnlineTrainingHub Thanks Mynda. By the way, I discovered a tricky way to have a legend (North, South) follow the line tips dynamically. Create a dummy record in your data equal to the last record and delete the reference to the year. Expand the data range to include the dummy record (including the blank year). You will now have a duplicate data point at the end of each line. Click on only the data label for the dummy data point in each series and replace the number with your label (North, South) or even make it a formula to the column headers of your data. Then format the width of the data label object to say 1 inch which will cover over the line emerging from the left of the real last data point in each series. Then increase the point size for emphasis. I also make the data labels bold, including the dummy end label. Once done, your pseudo legend will follow horizontally and vertically with the last true data point in your series, making it dynamic to future changes. If you add new data, it must always be above the dummy record. I also make the values in the dummy record equal to the value of the last true record with a single cell formula reference. It works pretty well. As the data changes, the pseudo legend re-positions the label accordingly. Presto.. a dynamic legend. Give it a try.. let me know what you think. Thanks for all your videos and blog posts.. makes me think.. create.. and learn. Thumbs up!

For the text boxes you can use the brush to give them the same appearance as the labels. Just 2 clicks (per label) and you're done.

Thanks for sharing the tip. In this case I didn't want the text boxes to share the format of the labels. I wanted them to share the format of the line, which unfortunately, you can't use the format painter on.

Groovy video, but I was thinking that I might want the series name of each line to move automatically should I add or changes data.I added an Extra column at the end of my data. The header of the column is just a space character, as I don't want it appearing on the X-Axis. The formula for the column is something like =OFFSET(H2,0,-1)I edited those data labels to show the Series Name and edited edited the Data Points to have no line

Thanks for sharing, David! I did something similar, but used a different formula, see here: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/dynamically-label-excel-chart-series-lines

Nice trick Mynda :-) Thanks for video.
But positions of these text boxes are not dynamic :-(
Using two additional fake series could make positions of text "South" and "North" dynamic.

This video was focused on the chart labels, but the dynamic technique is coming, Bill ;-) Keep your eye out in the coming weeks.

I did one of you videos last night and somehow got bullets or dot on the graph lines, and I could not figure out how to make disappear. Are bullets in the same formatting areas, maybe in other?? Help!!!

Sounds like you inserted a line chart with markers, instead of just the line chart.
