I agree, I feel like be has the potential to be a really great guy and tbh Devi doesn’t deserve him 💀. I really liked Aneesa and I was really happy seeing her with Ben so I hope he isn’t using her
@@drxwswonder6449 i LOVE aneesa but her relationship with ben seemed so dry to me 💀 esp bc i don't think ben is over devi (most notably shown in end scene of s2), which i hate since it means he's using aneesa. i think ben and devi have the potential to be a good couple if both of them grow a lot, but also if devi grows as a person in s3 and then later on gets w/ neither ben or paxton + ben is either single or dating someone else that would be cool too.
The best part of the show is breaking down the 'dumb jock' stereotype. Paxton's character arc in S2 was frickin amazing. As for who Devi should end up with, I don't have an answer for that. After S1 we could simply say it depended on what Devi wanted - something serious or just an 'american highschool boyfriend' experience. But after Paxton's arc in S2, it's a bit more complicated.
I would prefer if Ben just stayed with Aneesa. I don't think she deserves to be reduced to the side-character who gets forgotten as just an ex and an ex-rival. I would like to see her developed more even if her and Ben split, but I don't think he should go after Devi again. I personally get annoyed with back and forth relationships in young adult stuff. It just seems so overplayed nowadays to the point of exhaustion, it was done already in the show and I'd just not want them to make it become convoluted trying to be clever for drama or twists. 🐇
I definitely would love to see more of Aneesa’s character. Excited to see what they do with her next season….how do you feel about Paxton and Devi as a couple?
I'm team Devi loves Devi. Because right now I think she doesn't really love herself, she's trying to find ways to become her ideal self instead of finding who she is and loving herself. I think it will be so powerful for the end to come and she doesn't have a boyfriend at all, she goes to Princeton, she does well and she is just happy with herself.
I wish they'd put more focus on other characters honestly. I liked Kamala's scenes and was glad she got a fair amount of screentime, but I feel like the show could go more into Eleanor's story. I also don't really like Fabiola's relationship. Her girlfriend is cute, but it feels like they have nothing in common, no chemistry, and we barely see them have a regular conversation one on one, it seems like the writers just made up one other queer character and put them together without any real thought
Better suited sure, but when you really think about what's best for her. Like the ideal situation. It would be for her to heal first before she starts chasing people.
Fab's story had some issues too. I wasn't in love with the fact that the unambiguous Black lesbian was the rude/mean one who disrespected Fab's interests, while the white gay guy was the one who swooped in in the last episode to save the day and help Fab discover her truth. Netflix already has a colorism issue, so it was disappointing and not surprising that the enemy in Fab's story was another Black girl of a darker complexion.
I definitely get this. I didn’t particularly look at it from this perspective because Fab and Jonah were actually friends and I just saw Sasha as the mean girl. But Netflix definitely has a colorism issue so I get it.
@@bubbles4897 ambiguous as in racially ambiguous means that someone cannot be identified very specifically to one race. It's not obvious what race this person is. The black girl with the nose ring that was a friend of Fab's love interest, was obviously black. So she is NOT ambiguous therefore unambiguous.
I was thinking the same thing!!! As a black girl with darker skin, it made me feel sad that the only not racially ambiguous black girl was mean and written to be unlikable
No but I think the point of it being a downfall stands, because to me when I watched season one Devi was a lost and deeply traumatised girl trying any and everything to forget about her issues instead of actually dealing with them, which incited sympathy in me and made me root for her to get better. After this season, I’ve lost all respect for her, I think she’s selfish, immature and cruel and that she really needs to stop thinking the world revolves around her (which they did to an extent in season one only to backtrack that and have her behave somehow even more entitled in season 2). It still makes for a watchable show, I know my mom watches it to know how bad Devi’ll fudge up everything again, but for me this last season was painful to watch, uncomfortable and made me fairly angry (I don’t love Aneesa but GURL was she done wrong)
Yeah exactly. You forget that she's depressed and recovering from a trauma and a teen. Devi is a kid who is trying to make sense of her life after watching her father die in front of her eyes. I hope that in the next two seasons she will start listening more to her therapist (as its implied in the end of the season) and she'll realise she doesn't need a boyfriend, will cope with her father's death and get better mentally
my biggest issue with this season was the fact that devi just kept doing things that were beyond awful to the people she loves and never once has to take responsibility for her actions. even when she finally apologized to aneesa it's only for her personal gain bc she's trying to get back into school and impress ben not bc she sees how her actions are wrong. when she feels bad about things she does for people, she's sad they don't like her anymore, she doesn't feel bad that she hurt them.
They definitely match each other’s energy. Although there was a moment during their mock trial where he was irritated with her because she lost them the case. Made me wonder if we will see a clash between them next season.
Thank you so much for uploading Part 2, it was well worth the wait! Devi CLEARLY didn't think things through when she decided that it would be a good idea to date both Ben and Paxton. I'm glad that they found out about each other quickly enough, because it would have gotten old had it continued throughout the entire season. In my opinion, while Devi DID lie and deceive, I didn't think that she should have done Paxton's homework for him, or shouldered ALL of the responsibility.
Hey love! Yea she definitely didn’t think it through. Though I do think it should’ve last a bit longer only to add more drama to the climax…. And Paxton really did the most with the homework. Like I get that you’re mad but come on lol
As a Tamil (like Devi) I understand why people like her character, but it's such a god awful and lazy depiction of my culture that I would actually prefer if it didn't exist at all. Not one Tamil ( other than Mindy, as far as my research) in the writers room, and no language consultants really shines through. Low-key glad they're stopping after 4 seasons. That being said, the success of the show may influence Netflix to make more stuff with South Asians, so that's great. ALSO: If you like it, no hate to you, it's just that I work in the industry as a LITERAL consultant and they never even advertised for one.
THIS! Im Tamil, and I don't love the way they made South Asian culture interchangeable. The only two Tamil actors on the show Im aware of are Maitreyi and Sendhil. The few Tamil words spoken are butchered by the actors' North Indian accents. Tamil is a difficult language to master, and there are sounds and phonics in the language that have a certain pronunciation. ( the zha sound, for example ) I love the South Asian representation, but I don't love the way they portrayed Devi's Tamil family and culture.
@@myas.6485 Oh man, our language is so hard to master, and our mannerisms at home are so singular. I agree with you that more care needed to be done, and it would have been cool to have an entire cast be at least South Indian, if not Tamil, but they even made the 'pretty' cousin be fair skinned, because colourist isn't damaging enough. Shows they really don't care
As an Indian myself I kinda feel happy Davi is a mess. Hopefully there won't be anymore Indian stereotypes in the future. But this is Hollywood so.. who knows. FYI high achieving Indians like Davi are crazy IRL. I have known many. The kinda things she has said and done in the series is quaint in comparison, Just speaking my truth hear don't come at me.
ok here's the thing I really like about this show: Devi acts horribly, but everything that goes wrong is just natural consequences for her actions. Half the time, she's about to get away with it and then she wants just a bit more, to take it even further and she falls on her face. Idk I think it's a really good depiction of teenage erratic behaviour, where you can't seem to stop yourself from acting out even though you know that you've already overstayed your welcome.
I feel like even though Devi is unlikable as a character, whether intentionally or not, the writers are making her more of a "real" teenager. People her age make stupid decisions and get butterflies for each other for no reason whatsoever, but I do feel she and Ben have chemistry. Paxton and her feel very forced down our throats as they have no connection. Great video, by the way. Subscribed.
I'm sorry, I've tried so hard to feel empathy for Devi, but she's so insufferable and doesn't seem to grow up AT ALL. When my friends and I were teenagers, we would often make mistakes but quickly learned from them. I'm a highschool teacher and never, EVER had students like this character in four years of service. And writers try so hard for people to hate her and then make us feel like she's some kind of victim (?). Like, I'm confused all of the time. I thought the show was gonna get better but I had to stop watching the second season and only finished it a couple of weeks later against my will. I'm not watching a third, that was it for me :(
I feel like whenever Devi dislikes someone or something or does something stupid, the audience isn’t meant to agree, because usually it’s pretty obvious that it’s a bad decision or wrong, like hating Aneesa. I think what’s entertaining is watching Devi make her own mistakes. Like, you’re not necessarily rooting for what she’s doing you just want it to work out in the end. You know what, at least we have two more seasons to look forward to where they can elaborate on and fix some of the problems so far. I also want to say that the reason Devi makes so many irrational mistakes is because she’s a teenager. Im a teenager and I make so many stupid decisions, that, looking back, are obviously not gonna work out. As long as it stays entertaining, I’ll keep watching!
I think Paxton coming in the middle of the night to kiss Devi to the soundtrack of Heat Waves was perfect I still have that song in my head as we speak
I finished the first video today and was immediately like......I NEED MOREEEE ....and boom 💥 Season 2 video 🥴🤌🏾 absolute perfection 👏🏾👏🏾 Much love from Trini 🇹🇹
I get that Devi was caught in the middle of doing something outta pocket. But her mom straight up lied to her, gaslighted her, and then never even had to apologize when she got caught in her lie.
well, Devi did communicate with Paxton because of the s1 “have sex with The hottest guy for popularity” so it’s mostly physical. but Devi knew Ben for literal years, she knows his personality, likes and dislikes but with Paxton literally nothing. it’d be a mess if Devi and Paxton continue. I’m team Ben but if both Ben and Devi grow and we also get to see aneesa aswell, I like her and would like to see her arc.
How are you so hilarious? No, really. Who authorized this? I'm just minding my business at 4am, just vibing with my little sleep disorder and my Watch Later list, when BAM suddenly I have to worry about waking up my partner in the next room because I can't stop giggling like I'm goddamn Amadeus.
I guess I'm team whatever. I like her with Ben or Paxton they both can be good for her sometimes. However To be honest I don't think Devi should date someone for a while...she needs to figure how her anger hurts others. Anger drives Devi's emotions a portion of the time but she is getting counseling to help deal with them. Devi will learn she has be willing to not let her anger get the better of her. She's young so things can around before she does something worst out of anger and there's no going back to how it was.
i love your content its so interesting and you always word it perfectly but GIRRRLLLL you need to post more 😫😫 I already watched all your videos and I NEED MORE. also you should DEFINITELY do gilmore girls or the movie 'Sierra Burgess is a Loser' on Netflix. i'd definitely LOVEE to hear your opinions on those
Hi! How are you? Devi definitely had a lot on her plate this season. Can't even imagine what I would do if I was in her place, probably fall of the face of the earth and live off the grid. Anyways, hope you're well!
I’m team Paxton and Devi because Devi should have the experience and fun that she’s wanted for so long. I’m rooting for them and their growth together, Paxton can help with her social anxiety since he’s a lot more confident than she is and Devi can help with his academic work, since she studies a lot more than he does. All the same, they’re more interesting to watch and realistic.
I'm definitely team Paxton. I have been since season 1. Firstly, because I didn't like Ben's character. He was self-involved and bragged about stuff WAY too much. Probably explains why he had no friends. Not to mention, he himself cheated on his ex, and when Devi does it, it's all 'Oh how could you do this to me.' Not justifying Devi's actions but it's still hypocritical. What goes around comes around Ben! Also, I don't like Devi and Ben together because they have the same kind of intellect which makes the whole relationship unexploratory to me, that's what it's been in my dating experience at least. I would have been more on board with this ship had they explored more core beliefs and personality differences between Devi and Ben which would make their dynamic more fun to watch since they'd butt heads over their differences rather than similarities. Right now, they are sort of just like very very alike. They both have the same kinds of professional goals, same exuberance over school, extremely competitive, impulsive, jealous, vengeful. Besides Ben is also using Aneesa as a rebound who he was very into until she shuffled up her cards and ruined 1 presentation for him. Quite honestly, if Ben was one of those characters that acknowledged his flaws or at least realized them, then I'd have more sympathy for him but he has zero self-awareness and puts himself at a higher moral ground than Devi which he isn't at.And Paxton isn't like the best or anything but he realizes when he does something wrong and makes an effort to fix it. This = character growth = the better character= the comparatively better boyfriend
Ben acknowledge his flaws actually that’s why he was hurt about Devi, because he was her friend, he opened up to her and told her about his parents, his fear of abandoned, also he told her about Shira, he explained and apologized to Shira because he is learning on the emotional front. Ben didn’t use Anessa, she is kind, smart and a good friend, even Anessa said that Ben was supportive when the rumors started. Ben likes Anessa, he is not in love with her but they’re 16, also before enter that relationship he fix his relationship with Devi, because he cares about her as a person, and in his perspective he was never an option it was always Paxton and Devi finally apologized to him (after like 2 months to apologize to Paxton) but he understood because he knows Devi is good just messy, that’s why in the first apology he said her name in a sad way, he knows her and knows she can do better than that and in the end he is right Devi is better, she deserves more than a guy who humiliated her in front of his friends, yeah she was wrong but she deserve better
I like Devi and Ben together more than Devi and Paxton, but I don't think Devi deserves either of them because she always goes for the next best guy in the show.
I'm team Devi soughting out her issues before running into a relationship and making an absolute mess of herself and the other person (or people- the esact same situation could just happen again who knows, she never seems to learn her lesson anyways)
I liked the video but not sure I agree with the take on Paxton in the later episodes. If someone I liked (and it was pretty clear he did have feelings invested in Devi), cheated on me very publicly and indirectly ended my swimming career, I wouldn’t even consider taking them back. I don’t think he’d ever been hurt by a girl like that before and it was a lot to take in. Not because of Devi’s status. It’s just unlikely that someone had ever humiliated him or cheated on him before. And he’s always been a fairly honest character unless he’s using a defense mechanism (the friend zone “we don’t make sense” line). I don’t think he was embarrassed to be with Devi because of WHO she was, he liked her quirks. He was embarrassed because of WHAT she did and how that would reflect on his own self worth especially since he’d been reevaluating that since losing his swimming prospects. He’s shown that he also may make a quick decision on something that makes him uncomfortable or isn’t easy, but then after reflection, does the right thing. Hence showing up at the dance to be what Devi needed. I think Devi doesn’t treat him like a human with feelings though, but this object on a pedestal that is the true issue here. I can see them connecting on a deeper level but she’s got to get over those insecurities. I definitely think they’re compatible especially as they both grow.
Devi definitely doesn’t see him as he sees her and if we’re speaking scientifically his attraction to devi is bc it was so different and stressful for him that even if he broke up with her he will still always see her as “his first love” as she tested his boundaries and changed the way he viewed high school relationships and relationships in general..I’m team Ben but if she ends up with Paxton at least she will be able to brag about her hot bf with her future kids
I was able to get through the first season even though Devi's scheming was cringey at times, but when she was two timing I had to stop. I literally paused when the two boys overheard her admit it at the party and never went back because the cringe was so intense, I couldn't bear to see the fallout ☠️
I don’t feel chemistry with Devi and Paxton either. I feel like he likes Devi as a person, and also feels physical attraction to her, and doesn’t know the difference between this and actual romantic feelings. I got the sense that Ben actually liked Devi.
I just know Ben is going to catch more feelings after taking Devis v card, then Paxton is going to return home, and Devi is going to fall for him all over again.
I really ship Devi with Ben, after he found out she cheated on him with Paxton he became bitter and mean but also can we really blame him? He never stopped caring for Devi. I just finished watching season 3 and if they greenlight a season 4 I hope they can finally interact with honesty and love towards one another

It’ll definitely be interesting to see what type of relationship Paxton and Devi have next season given his arc.
🐇💗
LOl, he doesn't even love aneesa
I think that she should break up with Ben cause she doesn't deserve to stay with someone who doesn't love her. Anyway I'm team Ben and devi.
Now this is a good ending. We’re definitely going to have to discuss for season 4.
girl i'm team devi and therapy she should not be in a relationship rn
If only. Lol we know she’ll never do that.
Now that you say it, I did feel like Fab and her girlfriend were an odd match. But more so because of the chemistry between the actors.
devi has more of a physical attraction to paxton in my opinion rather than a romantic attraction and her and ben are better suited
Definitely more physical. That’s what makes it such an uneven comparison. Hoping we see more of a compatibility next season.
Better suited sure, but when you really think about what's best for her. Like the ideal situation. It would be for her to heal first before she starts chasing people.
Paxton is better
Fab's story had some issues too. I wasn't in love with the fact that the unambiguous Black lesbian was the rude/mean one who disrespected Fab's interests, while the white gay guy was the one who swooped in in the last episode to save the day and help Fab discover her truth. Netflix already has a colorism issue, so it was disappointing and not surprising that the enemy in Fab's story was another Black girl of a darker complexion.
I definitely get this. I didn’t particularly look at it from this perspective because Fab and Jonah were actually friends and I just saw Sasha as the mean girl. But Netflix definitely has a colorism issue so I get it.
unambiguous?? lol she’s definitely ambiguous what are your smoking??
@@bubbles4897 ambiguous as in racially ambiguous means that someone cannot be identified very specifically to one race. It's not obvious what race this person is. The black girl with the nose ring that was a friend of Fab's love interest, was obviously black. So she is NOT ambiguous therefore unambiguous.
@simmer you must be mistaken. They're not talking about Fab. They're talking about the darker girl with the nose ring
I was thinking the same thing!!! As a black girl with darker skin, it made me feel sad that the only not racially ambiguous black girl was mean and written to be unlikable
there’s no downfall everyone knows she’s a horrible person but she’s funny
Lol yea but you gotta admit she topped herself this season.
4:58 did NOT think we were getting an 'It Takes Two' reference but man I am glad we did
One of those “if you know, you know” moments lol
my biggest issue with this season was the fact that devi just kept doing things that were beyond awful to the people she loves and never once has to take responsibility for her actions. even when she finally apologized to aneesa it's only for her personal gain bc she's trying to get back into school and impress ben not bc she sees how her actions are wrong. when she feels bad about things she does for people, she's sad they don't like her anymore, she doesn't feel bad that she hurt them.
I like this take.
Ben and devi, but honestly ben DESERVES annisa, like they have charisma, she is kinder
They definitely match each other’s energy. Although there was a moment during their mock trial where he was irritated with her because she lost them the case. Made me wonder if we will see a clash between them next season.
@@TheBlushBunny definitely will. I don't think there wouldn't be a season 3 if Ben didn't start liking devi and then devi..yk
Like I get that you’re mad but come on lol
i'm team punching some sense into devi
Whoa whoa there lol there’s a easy solution to this lol
As a Tamil (like Devi) I understand why people like her character, but it's such a god awful and lazy depiction of my culture that I would actually prefer if it didn't exist at all. Not one Tamil ( other than Mindy, as far as my research) in the writers room, and no language consultants really shines through. Low-key glad they're stopping after 4 seasons. That being said, the success of the show may influence Netflix to make more stuff with South Asians, so that's great.
ALSO: If you like it, no hate to you, it's just that I work in the industry as a LITERAL consultant and they never even advertised for one.
That’s understandable.
I mean I can see someone who is an overachiever being high-strung but Devi is a lot. I’ll take your word that you know people like that. But yikes lol
Yep I do... gonna be spending a lot of time in therapy when i can afford it.
ok here's the thing I really like about this show: Devi acts horribly, but everything that goes wrong is just natural consequences for her actions. Half the time, she's about to get away with it and then she wants just a bit more, to take it even further and she falls on her face. Idk I think it's a really good depiction of teenage erratic behaviour, where you can't seem to stop yourself from acting out even though you know that you've already overstayed your welcome.
This was the perfect recap for when the new season comes out 🙌 love to see a new video from you! 😍
Hey love!! Thanks for your support. You’re always so positive. 💗
YESS, FINALLLY!!
Right???? Lol this wait was ridiculous. Like really.
"edward! 😁 oop- 😳"
Lol I was going through it this video.
Ahhh I’m so happy you posted!!
Hey love!! 💗💗
Subscribed.
Good take. Thanks for subscribing love. Welcome! 💕
@@TheBlushBunny Thanks.

Thanks so much for watching love. Glad you’re enjoying 💗
@@TheBlushBunny You're welcome!
I'm not watching a third, that was it for me :(
Devi definitely has extreme reactions. But I have a feeling in the next 2 seasons they will give her a more mature attitude.
Well said.
I think Paxton coming in the middle of the night to kiss Devi to the soundtrack of Heat Waves was perfect I still have that song in my head as we speak
I am team Ben and Aneessa and team Devi and therapy
😩😂
Team Devi needs an intervention lmao

honestly the slip up btwn the names of the love triangle earned an instant follow on my part😂😂😂
Lol! I was having a moment 😩
Welcome to the blush bunnies! 💕
The thing about season 2 is that when Anessa came on the scene she felt threatened like nobody can compete with Crazy Devi
I get that Devi was caught in the middle of doing something outta pocket. But her mom straight up lied to her, gaslighted her, and then never even had to apologize when she got caught in her lie.
It's Official: Another Season Is Coming
Yes! Can’t wait!
I couldn’t keep a smile off my face when #Daxton became official

Now this is just too sweet. Thanks so much. And welcome to the blush bunnies! 💗🐇
Im team Ben 100% she treats Paxton like a object but I’d rather a new guy for her but a lot later. She needs to focus on herself first
Yea I’m interested to see if there’s truly a deeper connection with Paxton next season.
well, Devi did communicate with Paxton because of the s1 “have sex with The hottest guy for popularity” so it’s mostly physical. but Devi knew Ben for literal years, she knows his personality, likes and dislikes but with Paxton literally nothing. it’d be a mess if Devi and Paxton continue.

Devi makes Paxton better but Ben makes Devi better
Hmmmmm….. this is very interesting. You may be on to something here.
🐇 I'm glad you're baaaack! Also I think I'm team Paxton at this point... Idk confused
Hey girl! I’m so happy to be back. Missed you guys!
Paxton…what is it about him that’s pulling you in that direction?
This is still my favorite show, never will have a downfall
Can’t wait for your take on the newest season!
I'm team Ben because Paxton's actor is very visibly 10 years older than Devi and Ben's actors and I just can't unsee it.
😂😂
Soooo truuuee
YESS ive been waiting for this
Thanks for your patience! Lol 💗
Yea she definitely has a lot of growing to do. It’ll be interesting to see what big blunder she causes next season .
I am so ready for this 👏🏻👏🏻

Devi season was way crazier than the last one
Off the hinges!
Hmmmm…. I really like this reason. Don’t know if I’m convinced to switch sides BUT you definitely have me intrigued 🤔
Team Bevi (Ben loves Devi for her and he kinda gets her)
He really does. And she slowly began to realize it.
The amount of second hand embarrassment in this show 🤦🏾♂️
I watched the part 1 an hour before this came out
Right on time! Lol
That’ll be the day. Lol
13:20 hit too hard 🤣💀💀
😂
A really rough season to watch but was it worth it for the season 3 growth? Yes
I was able to get through the first season even though Devi's scheming was cringey at times, but when she was two timing I had to stop. I literally paused when the two boys overheard her admit it at the party and never went back because the cringe was so intense, I couldn't bear to see the fallout ☠️
I'm team Ben but i would totally watch an entire season of Devi dating both of them and almost getting caught.
Right??! The suspense would’ve been good. And hilarious lol
I missed ur videos 😭😭😭
Hey love!!! 💗 thanks for being patient. Definitely going to do better with this uploading schedule . Lol
Nice It Takes Two reference 10/10!
Thank you! I’ve been waiting for someone to catch it!! 💕
I don’t feel chemistry with Devi and Paxton either. I feel like he likes Devi as a person, and also feels physical attraction to her, and doesn’t know the difference between this and actual romantic feelings.
I got the sense that Ben actually liked Devi.
Thanks for the proud Mary ref
This just made me smile so big. You’re the only person to catch it.
Now it all comes down to who’s worse: Ginny from “Ginny and Georgia” or Devi from “Never Have I Ever”?
Lol I’ll give Ginny a chance to redeem herself in season 2
Ginny Lol
I just know Ben is going to catch more feelings after taking Devis v card, then Paxton is going to return home, and Devi is going to fall for him all over again.
I relate hard to a character that struggles with her anger and severe avoidance tendencies.
It’s like Devi makes so many bad decisions, and still manages to be a likable character somehow
I really ship Devi with Ben, after he found out she cheated on him with Paxton he became bitter and mean but also can we really blame him?
He never stopped caring for Devi. I just finished watching season 3 and if they greenlight a season 4 I hope they can finally interact with honesty and love towards one another
