    I don't understand why they would bother encryption for a bus service lol

      Gordon Foster that's possible. Esp with all the train bombs etc

      I don't know either. It's not like a terrorist could gain any useful information from being able to listen in to the radios. The routes of buses and even live timing information is freely available and I don't see why they would need any more information than that.
      It's just a culture of secrecy. Lots of businesses are encrypting their radio systems now, even for boring things. Like you could look them up on ofcom's WTR and see that it was just a taxi company or courier. Really unnecessary to use encryption but since it only takes one checkbox and a few random letters and numbers to be typed in, they seem to think "I may as well enable it".

      In sweden several municipal transport organisations have built their own Tetra networks outside of the national RAKEL system. At a vast expense to the taxpayer... Its insane, and now the government is battling with cellular providers for space in the 700mhz LTE spectrum to build a national government LTE broadband to replace The national TETRA system. Which has only been in active service for 5-6 years.
      The previous analouge systems S70 and S80 were in use for well over 40 and 30 years respectively... Money is fun to spend when its someone else's...

      The authorities are just completely clueless and stupid. Here in the UK we are planning to move to an LTE system for all emergency services communications. MCPTT LTE is not ready for such a challenge. The coverage is not even good enough and it will be difficult to get it to be good enough because of the high frequencies and low power limits of LTE devices. What we should have done is built our own TETRA network years ago and then adopted commercial LTE for additional fast data access.

      radiosification That's how many counties are doing at the moment in sweden. Running with RAKEL (TETRA) for easy linking. But using Commercial 4G LTE for additional data access. It's not working brilliantly, while running code 3 data transmission becomes almost impossible. Ambulances have to slow down to transfer the patient data as the small cell radius just bogs down the traffic with cell handovers.
      The RAKEL system also experiences problems with coverage in the vast lands of rural sweden. So much that in the apline areas the old Analouge 79mhz "Alpine Radiosystem-80" a trunked CCIR/FFSK system is still in use.
      But now it's decided, nothing more is going to be fixed. So it's dying a slow and agonising death.
      I hope someone finds a piece of competence in that departement one day.

    Has this happened yet ? I remember a few years ago listening to London bus activity on a handheld scanner; I distinctly remember a driver calling in saying someone had stolen his hat and what to do about it ! Anyway not a good story really I hope he go it back. Ive recently made a bid on a receiver radio and am hoping to once again listen in on the London bus network; will I be able to do this still in 2022 ? Thanks

    What frequency is this on ? Can any analogue scanner receive this trunking system ?

    • @radiosification
      @radiosification  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is not following the trunking system. It is only scanning the channels. And there are many different frequencies, not just one. There is a whole list on radioreference.

    Nice video!! And yes, on my country much company are in progress to migration they comm to DMR encrypted :(
    Do you know which system is the actual for the London busses ? Because I have communication in my city with the same noise at the end of the transition and I don’t know how can truck them .
    Thanks and best regards.

    • @radiosification
      @radiosification  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The trunking system is MPT1327. There are no scanners that can follow this as far as I know, but I think there is some software that can do. Try this: www.linato.net/trunkview/ and also I think maybe unitrunker might do it although I'm not sure how.

    • @sutagloc
      @sutagloc 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that info!! I will search the control channel and may decode the system with unitrunker or trunkview.
      Great channel radiosification!!

    Sounds like a version of on the Buses conducted via radio. For people not in the know was a classic Television Comedy set in England.

    Nice video. And yes it will be good for the historic content, but (at the risk of sounding like a killjoy) is it not a little bit "naughty" posting the fact that you have received current unauthorized radio traffic? Ofcom's Guidance on Receive-Only Radio Scanners is a little bit scary!!!! But regardless, keep 'em coming! Good work

      Hope you read the comment in a nice positive way! And I do agree... but there's always the one who has nothing better to do than to spoil it for the likes of you and me! Top marks on the HD1 videos to date also. Any more in the pipe line?

    • @radiosification
      @radiosification  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I did. I hope my answer didn't come across in the wrong way.
      I certainly want to make more videos on the HD1. I ran a survey on some of the videos asking what people wanted to know and a few people wanted a demonstration of FPP programming. I want to do this but I'm still waiting for them to fix a bug with the contacts. At the moment, on my radio I can't change the type (private, group or all call) of a contact which in practice means I can't create any new contacts and therefore can't really do full FPP.

    • @brianwhelan5093
      @brianwhelan5093 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! Unfortunately, regardless of the recent releases of new firmwares and new CPS's, they are not addressing the rather lengthy Bugs List that has been created over on FB. It would be nice to have a stable proper firmware release that does address the issues raised by beta testers, otherwise what is the point of beta testing??? Ah well... Looking forward to the next video release regardless. Cheers for now and keep up the good work!

    • @radiosification
      @radiosification  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree. I wish the Chinese manufacturers would take bugs more seriously. They impact so much on the perception of how good quality a product is. Were you one of the beta testers or did you buy the radio yourself?

    • @brianwhelan5093
      @brianwhelan5093 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A beta tester. I had a look at the first version of the CPS last June or July and gave a very pedantic report on that first version. About 20% of my suggestions for simple fixes were implemented by October and still loads outstanding. A good physically well made radio, just the bugs let it down. I had the radio on a comms analyser and although the power output came close-ish to the advertised 10/8 Watts levels, it didn't quite hit the mark. RX squelch sensitivity is actually quite good, but there does seem to be a little bit of variable quality control which may affect the hardware. Its supposed to be a radio designed for Amateur useage; perhaps the verdicts from the testers should have been implemented before general release? I could go on and on... but this is probably not the appropriate forum!!

    In France, public transport makes the migration to TETRA unencrypted. I think it's more comfortable than DMR III

    • @radiosification
      @radiosification  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More comfortable in what way? I think I'd prefer to be a user of a TETRA system than a DMR system because it has much nicer sounding audio, but in terms of cost, a DMR system would be much cheaper because it has much better coverage for each repeater.

    • @kishascape
      @kishascape ปีที่แล้ว

      It's less comfortable. TETRA is low IQ troglodyte mode.

      I agree! Apart from listening to planes, marine radio and amateur radio, since amateur radio cannot legally use encryption in most countries.

    Ours is currently a DMR Tier 2, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why a transportation company can't use simple, analog VHF with a repeater - I mean, they use it to tell jokes all day, I'm not sure they require such expensive technology, ffs, they have bigger problems they should be worrying about.

    • @radiosification
      @radiosification  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the London bus system is going to be upgraded because the old system doesn't have enough capacity and they can't get more channels. It makes perfect sense because DMR is double as efficient compared to 12.5KHz FM. This system covers the entire city, so a single analog repeater definitely would not be enough. As it is they have 5 or 6 sites, each with quite a few trunking repeaters.
      Also on the London bus system you don't hear them messing about telling jokes much at all. Listen to this video. I didn't hear anything not serious in it.

    • @victor_gradinaru
      @victor_gradinaru 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I suppose your drivers are more serious. The technical part of it makes sense, somewhat, in the sense that clarity certainly is a plus, as well as coverage, though our Ambulance is doing quite fine on analog VHF - I don't see why a bus company can't make it work. Sure, the ambulance has more repeaters, but they reach all over Bucharest and surrounding communes, both served by the same ambulance service.
