Have you looked at the spartan wallet? I have one and love it. It is similar to your old wallet, but solves the issue of cards falling out with velcro straps. It lacks the small elastic pockets, but it still has the mesh id slot. It also has two places to hold bills, one being more secure with a velcro strap. I totaly recomend it. It is pretty thick, but the shape of it tapers in the back pocket and keeps it from being cumbersome.

I've had mine for 2 years now. It's held up great. Over time, you find many uses for the features you didn't think you'd use.
