    Some of those rims and parallels gave me the sweats just looking at them, but that's the nature of the beast. Really makes you appreciate nice, wide-open, wireless joist ends where you can lay some butter, after having to deal with the tight ones behind the ducting. Thanks for another great video!

    Right tool in the toolbox. Like the fact that the CC becomes the vapor barrier (retarder) at the mud/rim joist. Not knowing how the exterior side is composed of, I will assume that any drying from the OC can occur from the inside to the outside? Which I mean from the back of the Closed Cell foam where the Open cell foam starts heading to the exterior side.

    This is great. No one shows this stuff. In my area with interest rates as they are we don’t have many new builds with construction loans. We’re doing a ton of retrofits. We hate it, the spaces are so much tighter, it seems insulation (foam or otherwise) was a total afterthought of the builders. But, we have increased our profits because we’re charging lot more. It’s so much more prep and masking, often dealing with hoa requirements on when we can operate and noise limits etc. nightmare.

    Love your TH-cam channel. I’m going through a gut remodel of a 1970s home and am putting closed cell spray foam in the exterior wall cavities. Exterior gypsum sheathing with 2x4 studs. Is there any concern with the exterior face of the studs absorbing too much water if water gets past the brick and soaks the sheathing leading to rotting of the studs in between the closed cell foam? I’m in hot humid Texas (Houston). Is there vapor drive through a stud into the interior? I know there shouldn’t be any through the sheathing and close cell foam. Thank you!!

    If water had been a concern would you have decided not to do open cell? What could you have done alternatively if water was an issue?
    Love all the videos you put out. So much information. Thanks!

    I really appreciate the education o get from you. I see they did not move the wall framing out the 2”. I have a basement space that is already framed and I would rather not move the framing. What do I have to watch out for if I do not move the framing?

    Mike, love your videos. I just had my Metal garage sprayed with closed cell spray foam. 2 - 2.5 inches. Any tool recommendations on trimming some of the foam where it sticks out a little past the joists? I plan on mounting drywall to the metal studs to cover the foam and all the electrical wiring that is now incased inside the foam. Thanks!

      Knives and saws, finer the blade the better. Rough blades leave chips.

    Does an electrician have to check the wiring design now the wires are insulated?

    That’s a question I have never asked before is spray foam insect repellent or can you put something in there that would stop insects from coming in or born into it

    • @SprayJones
      @SprayJones  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will stop mice, bugs. Not so good against rats or termites, carpenter ants.

    Hey Mr. Jones, I own a spray foam company and was wondering if you had any good websites that contain the documentation and studies about closed cell foam that you talk about in your videos. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

      I have 18 years worth of info I have collected and gleaned from many others. There is no central place to go to.
      Start with you suppliers and get them to assist you with documents. Also SPFA in USA is good for resources.

    Is there not a flexible spray nozzle for these spray guns? (I have zero knowledge of spray foam devices, but seems like a potential area of innovation if possible)

    I just tell them I’ll get it as good as I possibly can, but I’m not god. I can’t work miracles. Set the customer’s expectations low and then exceed their and my expectations with 100% coverage. Rims are such a pain sometimes…. Correction, most times.

    • @SprayJones
      @SprayJones  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally agree. People have amnesia when a problem arises and you told them.... or they didn't want to change it for you.
      Yes most times joists are baaaad. I refuse the fight for the work and price stuff low anymore. Too much hassle.
