I say the same thing. That's like signing up for stress and misery. That's like giving your property away.

You can pass all the laws you want but when a low-income tenant needs protection from a harrassing and irresponsible landlord, there is no help available. Many tenants are threatened with eviction or evicted when requesting repairs or 24 hour notice of entry.

This is awesome, you certainly wouldn't want a property owner to be able to manage their asset and business how they'd like. You definitely want the government to dictate all aspects of business, because you know the bureaucrats have the peoples best interest in mind... IF they can personally profit from it.

Of course, the government knows what’s best for land lords. If we can trust them to effectively manage our tax dollars. We can trust them with everything else.

Last year, because of the limitations imposed by the Rent Stabilization Board, I had the residents removed for renovations, then a few months later, sold the renovated vacant property. This resulted in a higher selling price, because the new landlord can set a current-market rental value (win-win).

Why would anyone be a landlord in California? It's a mystery to me.

...right now, my friend, owns a house in Sacramento area. During Covid her tenants chose to not pay rent. She could not evict them...during those 3yrs she had to continue to make her mortgage payment, out of pocket. This has driven her to need to sell the house. Her tenants moved out of state, a month or so ago, leaving his mother behind. The woman has nowhere to go... She was not on the contract, yet is demanding recognition as a resident...The landlords have no rights in CA... My husband and I bought our rentals in Missouri...on account of

Greedy landlords raising rents o 5000$ on a shithole is why this is happening! Move to Missouri where you get a fraction of the rent in California because guess what? There’s no high paying jobs! Don’t let the door hit you in the a$$ on your way out!

Inherited a nice townhouse in Southern California last year - I refuse to rent it out because of laws like these! I’d rather just eat the holding cost, fix it up and sell it! There is no way I’d take any chances with the crazy, landlord hostile government in California!

If you are a still a landlord in CA, sell and get out before it gets even worse. In a socialist paradise like CA, landlords are always going to get the shaft.

This is SO overdue. Landlords association is equally as bad as the judges and attorneys "good ole boys" reputation. A lot of judges ARE landlords and absent at that.
